If Leo finally wins I will post nudes.
It's basically confirmed at this point. His competition isn't that great.
I have this feeling it could be Redmayne.

'Cause, y'know, social pandering.
If Redmayne wins it'll basically confirm that the requirements of winning an Oscar is by playing in a tug-on-the-heart-strings movie that panders to a specific minority.

I thought the Revenant wasn't as great as everyone was making it out to be honestly. I mean that plot wise. But what he did to prepare for the role is nothing short of amazing.
Yeah complete Oscar sweeps are rare. Not even 12 Years A Slave managed to pull it off. The Revenant while good, certainly doesn't deserve all the praise it's getting.

I think it's really cool that Mad Max was nominated for so much shit (it was certainly my MOTY), but honestly?

I think it really only deserves visual effects.
George Miller went through fucking hell to get Fury Road to the big screen. As skilful as Alejandro Inarritu is he didn't put in nearly the amount of effort as Miller did.

Yeah, yeah, he used only natural lighting etc etc but I still think Miller deserves it more.

To use 'racist' as a means to slander historical tradition and remembrance as if it's at all comparable to slavery is pretty laughable to be honest.

I don't subscribe to this revisionist history hogwash, and yeah, the Civil War was quite obviously fought over slavery and myriad other racially charged issues, but this guardianista lefty snobbery whenever the South decides to organise a cultural even that isn't contingent with your views can be quite insufferable at times.

Alice Cooper
Eagles of Death Metal

Plus there's a whole subculture of conservatarian punk rock that doesn't get a whole lot of attention.

Smoking is bad and the majority of medical experts can corroborate with that claim. Must be an appeal to authority fallacy too going by this shit logic.
If you're arguing that smoking is bad BECAUSE medical experts all agree, then yes, that's fallacious.

Smoking is bad because it's physiologically harmful and addictive. Not because people deem it so.
And how exactly do you think we arrived at that conclusion then?

Oh yeah, medical and scientific experts telling us so.
Not because they told us, but because of the research behind it.
And what makes you think these economists haven't conducted research of their own either?
Well different economists have reached different conclusions, so it's not exactly cut and dry.
You mean 1 economist out of 20?

I like how anything proposed by Sanders that would actually benefit Americans in a real way was met with "bad"
The term 'benefit' being completely subjective of course.
When you're better educated, you can get better jobs. This is not subjective.
An overwhelming majority of economists who are more educated on this topic than you disagree. So yeah, it kind of is.
So your level of education is entirely unrelated to prospective employers? If you've spent 5 minutes looking for a job you'd know that's a lie.
Okay so strawman aside, the original proposition that was posited was free tuition, with the vast majority of experts concluding that it is indeed, bad. When someone who has extensively studied a field that is telling you that a certain course of action is a bad idea, perhaps you should actually listen to what they're saying and not label it "a benefit".

Except it's a bad idea because it would mean banks, schools, and government can no longer fuck over people and rake in tones of money. It's a bad decision economically because they won't bring in as much money to pad their administrator's pockets.
This is the serious board. Conspiratorial arguments aren't welcome here.

  • Expel immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.
Quote
Proposed by Trump.

Rating: Bad (22 bad).
The fuck? They're here illegally.
How facile of you.
How exactly is it 'facile' to make sure we're abiding by the law?

I love how the left does this big song and dance about gun control but when it comes to immigration control apparently it's a free for all.
