Serious / Re: A serious question about #GG
« on: May 06, 2015, 10:30:57 AM »
"Games journalism" is bullshit.  To be honest, I couldn't give a shit about the personal lives of game developers/"journalists".  All this talk of "muh journalistic integrity" and "muh ethics" has become just as mind-numbing as the SJWs complaining about "muh tropes" and "muh sexism".

In the grand scheme of things, video games aren't that important, and people who say otherwise are lying to themselves.
That's not really the crux of our argument though. We recognise that in the wider scope of social issues, ethical journalistic practices isn't going to be at the top of the list. Still, it was an underlying problem that had been niggling gamers for a while, and GG was the tipping point.
So why did GG become a thing after Zoe Quinn and not before when we all knew IGN, Activsion and EA etc were doing it for the best part of a decade?
Idk, I guess the Sarkeesian scandal and the dissatisfaction with censorious third wave tumblr feminism had a part to play. Whatever happened, happened, and now we're here. The controversy with Quinn was the precipice for a variety of reasons.
Yet none of those were as bad as what the triple A industry gets away with. Funny.
GG takes issue with them as well. You would know this if you took the time to research GG and not what the leftist groupthink spoonfeed you.
Again you're assuming that I'm from the SJW anti-gamergate.
I tend to avoid insufferable identity politics, but whatever you classify yourself as, you're simply incorrect either way.
Again you're still assuming.

Have you read the zoe post? If a woman had received as much emotional abuse as he had there would be no question and everyone would have her back. So on that front he was justified.

As for the ethics part of it she was sleeping with her boss and two journalists who had given her positive press. That raises serious ethical questions that deserved to be answered.

Regardless of what any one's opinion on gg is I have no idea how anyone can view zoe quinn as anything close to a decent human being looking at the facts.

That all said this is old laundry and gg moved on from zoe a long time ago.
I have read it and I'm can't take it for face value. But lets say that I did, and she did cheat on him with several people, yeah that's fucking wrong when you're in a committed relationship. But does that give him the right to out her and whip up an angry mob?

Then shouldn't those questions be targeted towards the journalists and not Quinn? Like I said when the firt videos about the incident came out they all attacked Quinn and not the journalists.

I couldn't give a shit about GG, it's nothing to get worked up over, but it only started when Quinns ex doxxed her. So she might not be relevant currently but it's eyebrow raising that the people who started GG haven't give two fucks about sites like IGN who take money under the table from big publishers.
Seriously this thread reeks of either troll or quite a bit of ignorance. This is all months old stuff they tried to slander us with at the beginning. GG goes after the big publishers and 'journalist' sites as well not sure where you're getting otherwise. I'd suggest reading the Kotaku-in-action subreddit along with whatever sjw outlet you're coming from. If you're actually interested in learning something that is.
.
Yeah I stopped reading after this paragraph, I'm an SJW because I don't think GG is a proper movement and that doxxing Quinn was wrong? Dafuq you smoking?

So you're denying that Quinn was harassed and that she was wrong to get the videos about her taken down?

This is why I don't follow sites that are on either side of the issue, because of people like you who take it wa too seriously and twist things to you're own end.

Sword Art Online
or Fairy Tale
They're both good long run dubbed animes.
Has season 2 of SAO come out yet?

It finished last spring or summer.
Don't think it's dubbed yet.
Then it's not come out yet, Jap speak don't count.

Season two as in the one where they're fairies?
It's dubbed on Netflix they just didn't make a second season and lumped it in with season one. They did that with Black Butler too.
Ah saw that, thought that was part of the first season.

It's definitely a different season.
Yeah but they consider it the second arc of season 1. Season 2 (proper) is based of the 3rd arc I believe (which has guns n shit)

oh damn! I didn't realize there was a third arc @.@ with guns?
Are you shitting me or did you genuinely not know? I can't tell :/

:L I genuinely didn't know

Yeah just fuck off with that shit.

Hahaha sorry <3
Just seriously, no

The only censor that I know about was the one about Zoe Quinn and her supposedly cheating. And you can see why she did it, (true or not). Would you want people making threads and videos about your personal life?
I really don't give a fuck about Quinn and what she decides to put in her cunt. It does however, raise a few eyebrows when she actively sleeps with the gaming press a few weeks before the release of her game, because that would ultimately fall under a conflict of interest, reconciling with GG's ethics in journalism talking points.

There's damning evidence to suggest she faked harassment to gain sympathy points too, so I'll just add that as a little addendum.

Yeah I saw Sargons video about that, the anti GGers were quick to distance themselves from Chu. Chu just looks and sounds like a fucking spaz. Though it might not have actually been Chu but his twitter posts etc do make him look guilty.
I've yet to see anyone from anti GG disown Chu, but okay, I'll just take your word for it.

Onto your first point, what's worse? Making videos about someones personal life and spreading chinese whispers
It really doesn't fall into the purview of "personal" when you actively try to embroil yourself in conflicts of interest.
So Quinn is the one at fault and not the 5 guys? And what evidence that she faked harassment?

What the fuck even is gamergate?
Basically an anti SJW movement who harass people online and call it "ethics in games journalism".

Just saying what it objectively is. Anti-GG says they're harassers and GG says they're for "ethics in games journalism".
Well it's not really objective if you're just listing the opinions from either side of the debate now, is it?
It's not a debate when it's just people spewing bile at each other.
Sure, but it's pretty clear which side is demonstrably worse when they actively try to censor, libel and disown the other side through the corporate media.

Not to mention, in recent news, a bomb threat was tossed around in a GG meetup that was supposed to be a social event where gamers could have fun and talk about ethics in game journalism, causing panic and a variety of disabled guests to be hauled out haphazardly. It was later discovered that Arthur Chu, a staunchly anti GG member (not third party trolls), was to blame, yet not a peep from MSNBC or CNN funnily enough.
The only censor that I know about was the one about Zoe Quinn and her supposedly cheating. And you can see why she did it, (true or not). Would you want people making threads and videos about your personal life?

Dubbed?
Try Blood+, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Baccano!, Gurren Lagann or Code Geass.

They're the best dubs I know of.
Thanks
