Their life value dropped to zero the moment they kill an innocent person.
no
bad

life has value
Feel free to explain.

What options? Like let them live off tax payer money till death in a cell? The government isn't in that business. But they should be.
As opposed to murder? Of course. And you know that you can put prisoners to work. They can more than pay off the cost of a 10x10 square foot cell, food, and water.
That's true. I suppose I could be a bit more lenient. So hard labor until they're 60-70 and can't work anymore. Then they can be executed.

813
I completely agree that every life is valuable. Which is why prisoners convicted of murder should have theirs taken away. It really is doing the world a favor, no matter how bad that sounds.
"I agree that every life is valuable, that's why I condone ending lives."

Just because the murderer disagrees that every life is valuable doesn't mean that they aren't.
Okay give me a reason to let them live other than that their life is valuable. (lol) Their life value dropped to zero the moment they kill an innocent person.
Because the government is not in the business of killing people when there are other options.

I don't have a universal maxim against killing, I have one against murder. Killing someone in self-defense or who has a desire to be killed isn't murder. Killing a prisoner or someone on their knees, who doesn't want to die, is.
How did you come to these conclusions if you think doing so by weighing the consequences of the same action in those different situations is the wrong way to do it?
Consequences don't matter, the act itself matters. In wartime combat and self-assisted suicide, there's consent involved. You sign up for the military, knowing and expecting that you might get shot. You ask a doctor to kill you, knowing you'll die.

With people on death row, there's no consent. They don't want to die, and they're not in a position where it's life or death. The executioner, the government, doesn't have their life in danger and are forced to kill the prisoner like a soldier is with the enemy.
It's great isn't it? Ridding the world of one scum at a time. Just too slowly and too picky about who to do it to. Euthanasia should be saved for other things. A bullet to the head for the prisoner is all their worth.
People like you need to stop playing video games. Every life is valuable, and the volition of the life is what gives it meaning. No one has the obligation to live, but no one has the obligation to die.

Homeless people are a waste of space, they just eat, drink, and tarnish our poverty statistics. Let's kill them all!

Utilitarianists are retarded.
If they really caused sufficient harm to society to outweigh the impact of taking a life, which they don't, which is why you don't think that's a good idea. For comparison, how do you feel about the morality of killing an enemy combatant in the middle of a firefight on the front line of a war?  How about assisted suicide for the suffering and terminally ill?  If you think it's okay to kill someone in either of those two cases you obviously don't agree with a universal maxim against killing.

Sweeping moral ultimatums (such as: we must never ever under any circumstances convict an innocent person) sound nice but become pretty useless when almost any pair of them can be made to contradict each other.  They're useful as heuristics but the underlying sentiments they embody have a utilitarian basis.  (or they were just bogus to begin with, looking at you 'homosexuality is a sin!' et al)
I don't have a universal maxim against killing, I have one against murder. Killing someone in self-defense or who has a desire to be killed isn't murder. Killing a prisoner or someone on their knees, who doesn't want to die, is.
It's really simple. A murderer doesn't deserve to live. Especially those who do it just because. You're completely missing the point. Why should I pay for some murderer to live his life locked away? That's fucking stupid. If that prisoner didn't want to die, then he shouldn't have killed anyone.

Interesting. But I'm not sure what to think.

819
Can't say I agree. It would depend. I'm not letting a bunch of murderers go to save one person. If  you ask me. With the large amount of prisoners in the US, there's a way to save us all time, space, and money. It's harsh, but people would get used to it. I want prisons to line up all the people they have convicted of murder out in the prison yard. I don't care if it's a line of 100 people. Put a bullet in their heads, all of them. Problem solved. If you're a murderer you don't deserve to live. Fuck getting 10 years or some life sentence. No. A life for a life.
And how did you come to this conclusion?
It's just what I think. Having thousands of murderers living in prison is a waste of time, money, and space. It's as simple as that. Do the world a favor and get rid of them.

Unless you have a 4k TV would a 4k console be worth getting on a TV that's under that resolution? For example I have a vizio d series full-array led TV. Would a 4k PS4 look any different than the one I have now due to my TV not being 4k?
You'd just be running games at 1080P. But this new console isn't just bumping up the resolution. It would allow for better graphics and frame rates.

Yeah I'm not a fan of it. Word is a lot of developers aren't either. And Microsoft is doing the same thing.

it's only a 4k video player iirc

wont actually play games at 4k
It will upscale games to 4k, but not run them natively.

Games will still run on PS4.0, but they will look and/or run worse than the 4.5.

I doubt it would look much different than just running the games at 1080p and having the tv upscale them instead
It might look a lot different. Resolution isn't the point though. Games will look better on that machine graphically, and run better.
hardware improved a lot on the previous generation too, ultimately supported the same software but some of the hardware was different by the end of the Xbox 360's life cycle

FPS caps are set by the developer

in terms of hardware, games should run better, but they wont, and outside of 4k video you really won't see any difference unless you had some synthetic tests done, at the very least, you might see less stutter in the games that had them

it IS better hardware but they're not going to make games that can't run on both, that would be what Sega did with the Dreamcast and look how that turned out
No. They said Sony said there can be no games exclusive to this new system. Nor can there be gameplay features only on this system. But games can run better on it with higher framerates and also have better graphical fidelity and graphical features. They're even letting developers patch older PS4 games to boost performance or graphics, if they want to.

This is out? The last news I've heard of it was announcement of the Alpha 2 years ago, and then absolutely nothing.

I got pretty hyped after the announcement too.
Yeah, since UE4 is free and all. Go download it. Then on the launcher you can download UT. The community is helping Epic build it. It's not finished though.

What does this expansion have going for it that can compare to the new grinding DLC for Destiny?

And man you guys are slow. I've had NG+ beaten since like 2 weeks after that patch came out.
ye

I was holding off for the DLC to drop so that I could play through it all as one big e.e
but eh i got impatient so i'll just take my time with this playthrough and it should coincide with the next dlc too

Trouble for me was the story was still fresh in my head, so i didn't want to just rerun everything I'd already done and go gg in a couple of weeks.

Going for NG+ with Death March because ayy lmao
should at least slow me down until B&W is out
Yeah, it should take you awhile. It took me like 60 hours just to finish NG+ I think. Then I spent another good bit of time doing side stuff. And I still have side stuff left. Hearts of Stone will only give you 15 hours or so so it's not too long. But that should give you enough time for when Blood and Wine comes out. Which is supposedly in June. Not confirmed yet though. But Blood and Wine adds an entire new region. I can see it easily adding 30 hours or more to the game. Can't wait.

Privacy. The phrase you have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide kinda annoys me. Our government can protect us from other countries with the military. Everything else is left up to states. We have police. I don't think the NSA should be tracking and listening to all phone calls. It's wrong. So privacy all the way. It stretches much further too. Such as why is the government worried if you're doing drugs, or growing them? Anything like that is your own private matter. Let people do what they will, even if it means screwing over their own lives.
Listening in to calls and whatnot is more for anti terrorism.
Which is what has been said already. Are you willing to give up that privacy so government can protect you from terrorists?

Both in Korea and Vietnam, the last thing the people wanted was for us to leave. We backed the bad guy in Vietnam? Tell that to the screaming families who were toppling over each other for our helicopters to leave their own country when we pulled out.

The reasoning and ideologies behind both Korea and Vietnam was more calm than WWII, but it's an objective fact that countries living under a communistic rule are in a far worse condition, and the people of both countries absolutely did not want to be in those conditions. The world saw what happened to Germany, and how it affected the lives there, and there shouldn't be an argument on trying to prevent that from happening again. Unfortunately it did happen again, because such vehement protesters never saw such struggles, and people today of course wouldn't know these struggles at all.

There's no reason we should have been in any of the others like Korea or Vietnam. Heck, we backed the bad guy in Vietnam.
No doubt. Neither were good. But we picked the worst one just because the other was communist. I can't remember it all, haven't been in school for awhile. I don't know those struggles, of course not. I hope I never do. My point still stands though. We should not, especially now, waste time, money, and resources on other countries.
We are only as healthy and strong as we are because we dominate other countries.
We were doing well before WW1 or WW2. We don't need to "dominate" other countries to be healthy and strong.
But that's literally what 1800's America did.
And did we need to? Being Imperialistic and all is kinda evil if you ask me.

You can pretty clearly see that there's going to be a big battle between the Boltons and the Wildlings which tells me they aren't avoiding revealing the plot and semi-spoilery content. So aside from this, what else is going to happen this season? Jon Snow is dead, Arya is with the Faceless Men, Bran is with Bloodraven, Cersei talks about dealing with her enemies, "The dead are coming". Not really seeing any groundbreaking plot advancements.
A bit late on this. But the creators of the show have also said after this season there's more than likely only going to be 13 episodes left. 7 for Season 7 and 6 for Season 8. Compared to the usual 10 per season. So I could be wrong, but this season should advance the plot forward quite a bit. There's a lot in these trailers that aren't in the books yet. Hopefully Winds of Winter will be out this year. Who knows. But the fact that the potential last 3 books aren't out means there's less to film on. Martin told them the essential points and they'll go from there.

The last war we should have been a part of was WW2. That's the only one that's justifiable.
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
Laugh all you want. There's no reason we should have been in any of the others like Korea or Vietnam. Heck, we backed the bad guy in Vietnam. You can come up with all kinds of good reasons for intervening and helping these countries, but in the end, they don't matter. It's not our problem. It wastes our money and resources. We don't need to be the world police. Nor does any other country.
