Serious / Re: Slippery slope is not a fallacy

Oh I guarantee if they did what I say here violent crime would drop. It is my belief that if you take a life, yours no longer matters. A life for a life. I think I read there are 180,000 people in US prisons for murder. That's a whole lot, but you know what? I would have absolutely no problem if everyone of them was executed tomorrow. Killing nearly 200,000 people sounds awful. But it's retribution for all the lives they took.

Funny how people support killing an innocent newborn baby but oppose the death penalty. My state is bringing back firing squads. I say good on them. I'd prefer it over lethal injection. 1 bullet to the back of the head, the cheapest way to dispose of those who no longer deserve to live. If you're willing to take a life, yours no longer matters. Seems like a waste of taxpayer money to keep murders alive in prison. I wouldn't mind if they lined them all up at each facility and shot them all. Quickly though, humanely. Last meal and everything. Priest and stuff if they're into that.

I need to replay MGSV. And Platinum it.

What's the 3rd one? Also take your hud away when taking FF 14 shots.
Yes sir.

And it's the original Crysis. Looks great for a 10 year old game huh? So fun too. Crysis 2 was a decent game. And the third was just eh. But the first was great. Smooth gameplay, sandbox style gameplay. Big open levels. The nanosuit was new and cool and the on the fly gun customization was cool too. Environmental destruction was a bit neat too. Awesome to throw a guy into one of those metal shacks and watch it fall apart.

Gaming / Re: Mass Effect Andromeda Dropped Paragon & Renegade
« on: February 11, 2017, 08:44:55 PM »
From Xbox Magazine

* There are 'several highly advanced alien races' we'll meet in Andromeda

* Barrier can now deflect projectiles at foes

* Powers have individual cooldowns

* Blades confirmed as a craftable melee weapon (we already knew hammers)

* After a couple of encounters with the Kett, you'll be able to craft some of their technology (they use plasma guns)

* Crafting is entirely optional, not important to the story

* Based upon your dialogue choices, there can be tensions in the team

* You see planets and stars fly by from the Tempest's bridge, all windows on the ship give a view of your current location on the galaxy map

* 'Interrupts' are not paragon/renegade, but 'disarm' for example (it's a strategic choice, not a moral)

* You'll be able to understand the Kett motivations, they're more nuanced as an enemy

* There's a whole separate storyline besides the Kett

* The Kett were originally designed to be completely nude, but it was awkward in cutscenes

* All squad members have a loyalty mission (they seem to be 'a string of objectives' rather than one single mission)

* The loyalty missions will explain the squad members' motivation for leaving the Milky Way

* Michael Gamble: 'I definitely wouldn't call Andromeda an open-world game.We like to use the term exploration-based game. Sometimes that happens in open spaces, but not always. You can cruise around some of these planets in the Nomad, but it's not the traditional sandbox-type game.'

* You don't have to fuel the Tempest

* Side quests will be 'more varied and interesting than ever', says BioWare

* Active abilities/powers (like Overload, etc.) have an alternate fire mode

* There is no level cap, you can keep leveling until you run out of skills to put points into

* 5 difficulty levels, including narrative (very easy, just the story)

* Nomad's top speed is 130+ km/h

* Tempest top speed is 13 light years per day

* You can upgrade the omnitool (the blade)

Who cares about the author of the article? The PDF is what Khalid wrote. I don't see why Carol matters here...

Doesn't bother me. I'm hoping it's good. I do plan on buying it. Inquisition was pretty good. If this is like that minus the MMO design in parts(they say it is) then it should be good.

Interesting read. He is right about our foreign policy at least.

Too bad there's citizens there. Otherwise I say we bomb the shit out of it till the city looks like a wasteland. Nothing but rubble. Or is that too much?

371
I could never get into the originals but man I love Link to the Past. I've always loved games with that style and graphics. Even today like Stardew Valley. But I'm a bit biased, it was my first Zelda I really played all the way through.

I know it's the typical answer, but for me, it really is my favorite. OoT. No game has ever made me feel the way OoT has. In fact, I wouldn't even put any games in a list with it that have come out in the past 10 years or so. No game has come close to it, or other games near its time. I know a lot of people don't like The Witcher 3. But now that I think about it, I would put that up there with OoT. TW3 was the best game I have played in years.

do u ever shut up about the witcher 3
No, sorry. It is my duty to spread the goodness that is The Witcher 3. Once again. Best game in YEARS. But it doesn't touch OoT. Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 will dethrone it.

But anyways. To be fair I guess I won't mention OoT. A Link To The Past is my favorite besides OoT.

This is the kinda shit I'm talking about.

Maybe it is a majority. It sure looks like it. What the fuck is Europe doing? Look at how they're talking. Saying Europe will be an Islamic State with only Muslims. I cannot be called a racist. But they can. This is the epitome of intolerance. As the video said. Might as well call it genoicide.

I agree with most of what you said, but this conflicts with

There are a couple billion Muslims. A vast amount are not terrorists. That's just statistical fact. I do agree it needs major reform though, but that entire region is backwards in general.
Well I said a lot, not a majority in the first part. Just keeps getting easier and easier to cave in to this now.

I've come to the conclusion recently that Islam is not a religion of peace. I'm done listening to people say that. It's simply not true. Just look at the polls of Muslims who support Sharia. And the huge amount that are terrorists or just local populations who kill people. It's so sad. And it's been going on forever. Read up on the Barbary Wars today. Didn't even know about those. I think this religion either needs to be reformed or hopefully destroyed one day. Let's hope the vast majority of Muslims stay normal like now. Just my opinion. I'll keep it to myself. Post this elsewhere and I'll get torn a new one.

A little miffed that they couldn't have added HDD support earlier. Would have been nice to plug up a hard drive instead of having to constantly delete games.
It's possible to open it up and add one that way too, right?

I guess he isn't too bad. I was just reading some people want Ben Shapiro to run. I wouldn't vote for him though. I don't think. We didn't have anyone worth voting for this time, probably won't next time.

383
I actively hope that it never happens.
Why?
There's no point.
Sure there is. We could mine other planets, asteroids, moons. Discover new things. Maybe find life. And the future of humans depends on colonizing other planets.

As for the time it takes to travel to other places in response to the other post. We could always hope for a breakthrough. Like near or FTL travel or collapsing space time around you. Crazy how that all works with time dilation and all. Think I read if someone traveled at light speed for 1 year 10 years would pass for us here. But what if for example we're communicating over video chat? Seems like a paradox.

If you're going to bet all your hopes on being able to break the laws of physics, then there's really no point having a discussion.

For time dilation to kick in with noticeable effects you'd need to be travelling around 10%C.

Lightspeed is unatainable because to get anything that has more than zero mass to that velocity you would need literally infinite energy. To get anywhere near velocities measured in percentages of C you'd need the kind of tech you see in science fiction.

I hate to break it to you but science fiction is called science fiction for a reason.
You can't crush the dream! I read Lightspeed travel is theoretically possible. So is FTL. Such as The Alcubier  Drive or "unusually distorted space time". Their words. All theoretical of course. You never know what we'll find out. Look at Quantum mechanics saying it's like the universe is written in code with strings. And the tiny atoms or whatever it was only existing if being observed. We just don't know much yet. But who knows what the future could bring.

384
We're more technologically behind on space travel than we were in the 70's due to none of the blueprints being saved. I had a long talk with my astronomy teacher about it.

It's honestly really fucking depressing.
How so? We can do the same stuff we did back then right now, and more. It's all a matter of money.
No, we can't. Engineers today literally do not understand how they made the Saturn V rockets due to the plans being lost over time via shut downs and what not. They have an idea, but blueprints are gone. Last I checked they had to call the engineers in from the Apollo program to help them build their recent rocket or whatever it was.

We're basically starting from scratch
Fuck. Well. We do have places like SpaceX. They want to put people on Mars before 2030 I think. And they've been making good progress. Landings have been made and they even re supplied ISS.

So this means the UK officially is leaving the EU now? I wonder how many more will follow. I read a Polish or Czech article the other day. They praised Trump and want to leave too. They said Muslim immigrants are destroying the EU. As I've said before I don't agree with the harshness of this ban or whatever you'd like to call it. But I have seen videos of HUGE crowds of immigrants flooding into Greece and France and other countries. They're literally punching the police, lifting the skirts of women, throwing bricks, grabbing things and hitting cars. If you want to get into the these countries, let alone the US, why would you act in such a way?

We should build a space elevator.
Yeah and Terraform mars. A good way of getting rid of all our nuclear weapons? Blow them up in Mars atmosphere. :P Can't say I agree with that idea. While it might work overtime it just seems like it would create more problems to begin with. Nuclear Winter, more radiation, etc...
