I get your point. It's just not for everyone. I was actually talking with a friend about Point and Click Adventure games the other day. He despises them. I enjoy them though. TellTale games are kinda watered down compared to older ones though. They don't really make Adventure games anymore. One old one is called Grim Fandango if you've heard of it. That game got like perfect scores across the board nearly. So these games focusing heavily on story are nothing new IMO, not after seeing all these 90s Adventure games.

And I agree. I want to see ND do something different. An RPG would be great. Preferably open world. What's your opinion on Mass Effect since it's got a lot of cutscenes and you're stuck in a dialogue wheel a lot. The Witcher 3 does that too.

122
I was referring to RPGs with that last part. Like Baldur's Gate or Divinity Original Sin, should those not be considered good games because you're reading half the time?

Well, no, because presumably those games do something engaging beyond simply reading half the time that justifies being included in the medium.

And yeah, Uncharted doesn't have good stories. I've always enjoyed them though, because besides RPGs, the stories are a bit above average compared to other games.

Again, how? They simply don't tell "a bit above average" stories. They rely on good writing and characters to make a mind-numbingly generic and pedestrian story somewhat engaging.
Well. Take Destiny for example. Great gunplay. Amazing gunplay in fact. Some of the gameplay systems are good, others not so much. The story? Literally what story, there wasn't even an attempt to make one. It's just vauge dialogue spread few and far between. And that brought the game down, way down. Any COD story is pretty bad too. Most don't even have interesting characters to me. God of War? Not that cutscene intensive, but HIGHLY linear. Very scripted. Again, not an amazing story, and the gameplay isn't innovative. But it's fun, and the story is interesting. That's all I'm saying.

123
Well I guess, I just have to disagree. The gameplay is fine. It's fun to me.

The point he makes is that it's extremely well-refined but it doesn't work well in-tandem with the enemies, level design or anything else; it just feels very generic and barebones with little thought put into the relationship with the rest of the game.

And story is always important to me.

All Uncharted games (I haven't played 4) all have bad "stories" though. They can pretty much all be summed up with the exact same synopsis. Granted 3 actually shakes it up a little but it's still the same structure.

The main appeal is the set pieces, the characters and the writing, all of which shouldn't really be the focus in a video game.

I want it to have good gameplay, but I want it to have a lengthy and in-depth story too.

Uncharted doesn't do that, though.

Yeah, I still don't get him complaining about the cutscenes saying they may as well make a movie. You have like 10 hours of gameplay with 2 hours of cutscenes. Same with TLOU. Now some games do overdo it, like MGS4.

He explains that. He says that the main draw of the Uncharted games are their characters and the excellent writing, and you yourself said that there's only 2 hours of cutscenes (which is a highball to begin with) and over 10 hours of primitive and uninteresting gameplay. They may as well make a movie when the only reason the extremely meh gameplay exists is to highlight the characters and writing.
Well I guess, I just have to disagree. The gameplay is fine. It's fun to me. And story is always important to me. Though, I'm meaning more along the lines of RPG games. I want it to have good gameplay, but I want it to have a lengthy and in-depth story too. Shit, you could argue Mass Effect did the same exact thing as Uncharted except it was a bit longer and you have a dialogue wheel.

I think I watched that. Is that the guy complaining it focuses on story too much and just has standard gameplay instead of innovating?

I've heard of some people soloing old content so I was just wondering. And if that's the case, 2-3 people, unsynced at 70 should do the job for most of them. Except maybe 24 mans.

Its still shady af. As memorial dlc it should have been free from the start.
Uh I guess the idea was good in theory. Make a small DLC with profits going to the family. They should've gone about it another way though.

Warner Bros probably tried to share it. You already know they were pocketing some of it. Due to different regions having different laws it probably all got sent to WB. And from there they decided how much to give to the family.

exploiting dead employees
?
Warner Bros was selling a DLC and giving partial profits to the family of a developer at Monolith who died recently. Eventually they made it free and just gave his family some kind of lump sum.

Getting it eventually. Busy with FFXIV at the moment. Closely watching the new AC. And I'll see how COD and BF2 turn out.

I've only done The Crystal Tower. I still wanna do The Binding Coils, The Void Ark, and Alexander. There's also the hard mode dungeons. I've only done 2 or 3. And there's a few Heavensward dungeons I never unlocked like The Fractal Continuum, At this point, do you think most of the stuff could be soloed, besides the Heavensward raids of course.

Thanks. It went better than expected. Didn't even loose power. It fell apart and didn't strengthen.

Lmao, the people in this thread. Bunch of paranoid people. That's all you guys are. Trump is a moron. His sentences aren't even coherent half the time. If you believe in this New World Order, Zionist blah blah blah, you're also a moron. To the guy talking of Reptilians and suggesting some fictional character in some old book was one, you're not a moron. You're fucking retarded.
Is this guy trolling?
I'm not but I sure hope you guys are.

Yeah. Kinda came out of nowhere. Should be a direct hit to Harrison County. I'm in Hancock so it will still be bad. Should be about 11 feet of surge in some areas. Hitting dang near the same exact spot as Katrina. This is no Katrina though. Should hit in about 3 hours.  8PM CST. The storm shouldn't be too bad unless you literally live on the water or get hit by a tornado. Problem is there's a bay at the bottom right of my county and a river that forks off of it and goes throughout the county about halfway. And there's a lot of low lying areas. And of course. We border The Gulf of Mexico.

This is EXACTLY what a reptilian servant would say.
You'll be happy to hear I've never encountered one. Just maybe.... They don't exist.

Cool, everyone enjoy. I hope I can too. This Hurricane is coming though. Just got off work. It's really windy now and the sky is completely gone. Nothing but thick gray clouds now blocking it. Not much sunlight can get through it. Hopefully the power will be out for a few hours, and not a few days. It is only a Category 2, but you never know. Wish me luck everyone.

Fucking tinfoil hat wearers in this thread...

Gun control may well prevent some deaths overall, but at the end of the day, a person like this is going to get a gun if they want it. Besides that, no doubt the gun he used was illegal. That isn't a semi-auto.

Tinfoil hats act more like satellite dishes than Faraday cages.

I just coat my entire body in vaseline to make my thoughts more slippery and harder to steal.
Good for you.

I have the same thoughts. It's my favorite of the trilogy. Did you play Andromeda? It felt like a chore beating that game. I liked the lore they set up. But compared to the others it felt like it was wandering around big areas with lazy mission design and not much story.

Mass Effect 1.... Honestly, I felt like the story was better in it. But there seemed to be less story, if that makes sense. So I enjoyed 2 and 3 more. I was on PS3. No 360, and a PC that couldn't hope of running it. So for a long time. I couldn't play it. The original Mass Effect didn't come to PS3 until December 2012, after all the others came out. A lot of my friends told me about it. So I bought Mass Effect 2 and 3, ASAP, never played the first, nor looked into it. So I was quite surprised when I played the first when it finally came out. Talk about tedious and clunky. I immediately set it to the easiest difficulty so I wouldn't get even more upset with the game over time. I enjoyed it. But nowhere near as much as 2 or 3. Maybe if I had played it first, things would be different.

And of all things it's a new difficulty level they're charging for. And $15? Wow.

We had like 2-3 minutes left. It wasn't bad. Certainly doable. But I'd prefer a different kind of difficulty mechanism. Maybe even have the timer on Prestige difficulty only.

There's so much salt about Nightfall Exodus Crash lol. We got it in two tries. It's not that bad. Worst strike in D2 though. I've still gone all this time without doing Lake of Shadows. It's the only strike I've never played.
