Gaming / Re: Hey Verbatim.« on: November 30, 2016, 06:29:32 PM »while you wont mod a game yourself or use them would you object to others using games and their tools to learn and create for themselvespatienceI imagine Verb sees mods as a sort of fan fiction, which is generally trash and detracts from the artistic value of a work, despite being a form of artistic expression itself, often helping amateur writers gain exposure and experience -- and is often embraced by the original authors themselves as a way to build the fiction (JK Rowling is a prominent example).you got it, in a nutshell again this doesnt mean you have to like it and with most fanfics its probably trash but for those with the drive and motivation to create and enjoy it would you say thats a bad thing 790

i agree with most of this video but about the readable and modular code
that might not always make the most performant game, just look at bethesdas engine, decades of piling up features onto an aged platform isnt a great idea and while you can make a moddable game run efficiently in more modern the bad side of this is its still a business bad programmers (or good programmers who can just do things in efficient but crazy roundabout ways) can keep their code difficult to maintain and understand for the sake of job security it sucks but it happens, or at least i know it happens in web dev and some software, so im guessing some games might fall into that category but yeah modding games is great fun and to be able to put something thats tangible and you can see in the game may not be the vision the developer wanted you to see but its not like youre working on an irreplaceable copy of something that can be digitally duplicated millions of times, and you can always go back to the original i almost look forward to the point where my skyrim breaks again so i could mod it from scratch and play a different game every time 791

Gaming / Re: How did Locke's punch crack the MC''s visor?« on: November 27, 2016, 10:18:01 AM »nerdArmor lock is not designed to reduce any type of impact, it's designed to prevent the users body from being moved around in the event of broken bones. When you have a broken bone or shattered ones, moving them around is going to causes even more pain and injuries, armor lock is there to prevent that. Why can a Spartan survive a fall from space but not from 100 meters?Actually this is semi believeable. Helicopters can survive engine failure if there a few meters off the ground, since the fall is too small; or from a few hundred meters up, since they have enough time to cause the blades to "glide" using the momentum of the fall. But anywhere in between, and it's too high for a safe crash, and too low to glide, so you're guaranteed to die. 795
