The basilisks spray you with nasty shit that kills you and cuts your HP when you die. It decreases more and more each time it happens. Pretty sure in the vanilla DS1 it would make your HP go VERY low but they patched it so it's not so bad.

Thoroughly enjoyed that episode. Teared up a bit at the end. Also some obvious foreshadowing of the wall coming down, sweet.

The Flood / Spoiler Something that bothers me about the ending of X-Men DOFP« on: May 22, 2016, 10:01:02 PM »
Soo... the main, future Wolverine (that we've been seeing in the films) has his consciousness transported to the body of a Wolverine in the nice new timeline at the end, right? He wakes up and he's all like 'WTF. Why is everyone alive?'
Does this mean that there was a Wolverine in this nice new timeline who lived years up to that point, only to get his mind effectively erased and replaced with the mind of the old timeline wolverine who we spent the film with? I mean, they're both Wolverine but one was used to that nice new life at the school while the other was from the war torn future who suddenly wakes up in the body and has no idea what's going on... Also, how does Professor X even know about the new timeline? 5394
Gaming / Re: People hate on Bulbasaur but I think it's the best choice for Gen 1« on: May 22, 2016, 09:37:40 PM »The thing is, Bulbasaur gets early access to one of the most broken moves in the game--Sleep Powder. There's no sleep cause in single player, so you can just use it on everything with impunity. It misses most of the time when I use it. Could just be my terrible luck. And I find that using Charizard makes me less inclined to use the rest of my team because I can just burn everything with Flamethrower. I mean it's useful to have something so fast and powerful yeah, but I like having a nice balanced team I can rotate at will. 5395
Gaming / Re: People hate on Bulbasaur but I think it's the best choice for Gen 1« on: May 22, 2016, 09:23:59 PM »The fact that Bulbasaur is essentially the game's easymode kinda makes me dislike him more, to be honest. Really? I only find him to be too useful near the start, after that he's pretty much only useful as a support Pokemon. It's my first time playing Firered in a while though. From what I can remember, once Charmeleon evolves into Charizard the game goes into easy mode. Just Flamethrower/Wing Attack everything. 5396

Incredibly rude and his response here confirms it even if it's no longer in the OP. If he wants to keep people out of his "discussion", he's gonna need a private place to do it off the main forum. If he didn't want other responses, he shouldn't have bothered with a public thread to begin with. That's my only beef. Oh, I didn't know about Pip's original post. 5398
Gaming / People hate on Bulbasaur but I think it's the best choice for Gen 1« on: May 22, 2016, 09:16:45 PM »
I see so much Bulbasaur hate and Charmander dickriding. In my opinion, he's the best choice for a starter because he makes the first 2 gyms manageable, after which point you will have access to a wide range of other Pokemon to build your team with. You'll get comfortable with the game quite early on, without feeling the slow ass grind that you'll have to inevitably endure later on.
The other 2 starters make you grind out just to beat the first 1/2 gyms which can make the start of the game a bit of tedious drag and kill the flow a bit. If you pick Bulbasaur you are able to beat Brock and Misty relatively easy and make it to Vermillion City where you'll have to start relying on other stuff. You have quite a range to choose from at that point, so I find that it's a good balance, imo. So uh, yeah that's what I think. Discuss what the best gen 1 starter is in terms of actual game progression and pace. 5399

Yeah you can. Just don't cry about not getting the inside jokes when you choose not to join in.
