As someone very cynical and somewhat tired of superhero movies, I really bloody enjoyed that.
I hope Korg was okay. Also, when Thanos called Peter an insect I was really hoping he'd quip back with 'I'm actually an arachnid,' but that's a very minor nitpick, lol. I rarely laugh at these films but Starlord doing a Thor impression had me in stitches.
I like the fact I have some semblance of a soul still left and found myself enjoying this a lot.

I'm going to count series in which I've played a tiny amount, because I don't think it really qualifies as 'playing'
Ass Creed The Witcher Splinter Cell Ninja Gaiden Civilization/Any strategy game Chrono Trigger Most Nintendo franchises bar Pokemon and Zelda

As long as it doesn't break immersion, sure.

I just saw it. As someone who unironically loved the first one, I was somewhat optimistic for this one.
Well it was uhh...Kind of a mess. There were things in there that I liked such as the hybrid kaijus and the rogue Jaeger fight, but damn the rest of it was awful.
Did anyone else see it? I know I'm probably in the minority loving the first one, but damn I'd like some reassurance that this one was much much worse.

Yo Chally, you're into Ninja Gaiden right? I'm thinking of giving it a try.
I love Ninja Gaiden. If you need any tips on a good place to grind essence or anything in general let me know. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the game, too, if you wouldn't mind.
Are you going to play the first one?
If that's the best place to start, sure. I dunno, I've been binging DMC3 hard and I always see Ninja Gaiden mentioned alongside it during discussions on over the top difficult hack and slash games so I thought I'd give it a go!
Yeah I definitely recommend playing the first one. And it is really hard. Hard to the point where abusing invincibility frames doesn't feel like cheating at all.
Is it Ninja Gaiden Black or Sigma or whatever? Or the original game? If it's those other versions I think you have some new weapons and stuff I wouldn't know about because I just played the normal version. If you could stream it that'd be awesome.
Unfortunately, unless it gets a PS4 re-release I'll be unable to record or stream anything. My laptop can't render for shit. I'll probably pick up Sigma, since it's exclusive to the PS3 while Black is for the Xbox. If I like it I'll probably pick up 2 afterwards. Not gonna buy the sequel at the same time as the first again, I made that mistake with Dead Space. If it's a proper skill based hack and slash I'll probably enjoy it. I love learning and mastering all the different mechanics like jump cancelling etc.

Beat it on Normal. Final boss of 3 is goddamn awesome, zipping about with swords clashing and dodging in and out of each other. Immediately started the game again on hard, so this should be fun.

First one is still my favorite because of nostalgia. I used to run through the series yearly but haven't done so in a while. How much was the remaster?
Around £24 on Amazon for me. I swear it's like most of my PS4 library consists of remasters, lol.

Rathalos is a cowardly nigger. Fucker kept flying across the map the second I entered the same area as him. Tedious to wait for him to land, but on the ground he's still the same big dumb lumbering retard he was in MHF though, so a pretty easy kill overall. Next up is Diablos, shouldn't be too hard either. If I remember correctly, just bait him into charging into a wall and he'll get stuck.
Flash pods, my dude.

Not really interested, or just one of those things you never got round to playing?
Never caught my interest but I don't know much about it. What's it about? Is it challenging or just kind of mindless hack and slash?
It's challenging. It's challenging in both unforgiving difficulty and the sense that if you want to get the most out of the game then you have to really be prepared to sink hours into it and learn all about the different combos, weapons, timings etc. It's possible to just sort of hack and slash your way through it, but you won't get graded very well on it. It's a series that prides itself on being as stylish as possible, and I mean that in the least pretentious and uppity way possible. The game has a style meter which you fill by stringing together different attacks, switching weapons mid combo and not getting hit at all. After a couple of hours (or maybe even minutes, depending on how you do) it just sort of... clicks, you know? The game actually motivates you to do better, to get the best ranks possible. After a while you'll be zipping all over the place, bouncing off enemies heads for extra jump height, spinning around before finishing with a room-crossing stinger move. It can get really fucking hectic at times and if you start getting tilted you can get easily frustrated by it, but goddamn does it feel satisfying when you flawlessly clear a whole room of enemies without being touched and get an SSS rank for it. Honestly I'm probably not even doing it much justice by talking about it, it's best experienced by playing it and giving it a chance. The first game set the stage for fast paced action games back in 2001 and by the 3rd game it's like they've perfected it to an art form. The story isn't too amazing if that's what you're after. The basic lore of the whole thing is fitting for this kind of game and the interactions between Dante and the other characters is enjoyable, but at the end of the day the gameplay is the real star. Hope I've done a somewhat okay job of explaining how it is. If you're into action games and see it for cheap, I'd recommend it. Here's a boss fight and accompanying cutscenes to give more of an idea what it's like. As you can see it ...doesn't take itself too seriously but it's goofy in a fun way.

So I picked up the HD collection this week and been giving it another whirl. I started the first one again, but goddamn it feels old now. Not that it's a bad thing, but you can definitely see it. I decided to go straight to 3 because of course that's the golden boy of the franchise and hooo boy, it's still as good as ever. The fact that the gameplay and over the top-ness is still fun as hell 13 years later is a testament to just how well designed and fluid the combat is. Being able to string together SSSTYLISH combos from loads of different attacks and timings is just so damn satisfying. When I beat it I actually want to go back and do it again on Hard just for that extra rush.
Anyone else a fan? Is it just edgy over the top bullshit? I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of hack and slash or action games, they're all worth a go, I think. 4 was a good...half of a game. Maybe with this recent re-release and Monster Hunter crossover they're getting us back into the DMC mood to prepare us for a new one. Who knows.

Looks like an enjoyable superhero flick. Not expecting anything major, it's not going to live up the years of buildup and hype but it should be alright at least.
