I don't play the TCG but I occasionally get booster packs because I really like the art. I saw a special box that had a nice little Arceus pin and card, along with two booster packs. Check out what I got inside.

Spoiler

These any good?

- Aqua Jet

It's a rain team--or at least, as much of a rain team as I can make since the weather nerf. I don't care to make any other archetype--rain is my style, and I'm gonna stick with it through thick and thin.

Politoed is Politoed. It's a pretty shitty Pokémon (especially these days), but I absolutely need it for Drizzle. As such, it's pretty much the only reason I have him. In the past, when rain didn't suck, I could afford to give him things like HP + Specs, or even HP + Zoom Lens--but now that rain sucks, I have to give him some kind of half-assed defensive set with the goal of keeping him alive as long as possible. Toxic is for wearing down big walls that I wouldn't easily be able to take out otherwise, and Rest is just to ensure he lasts longer than he should. He's definitely the load of the team. I really wish I had more options.

Swampertite is my choice of Mega Evolution. Mega Swampert is a very powerful physical sweeper who is a speedy monster in the rain. Practically nothing can outspeed this thing when it's raining. All of his attacks can OHKO just about anything they need to, given the target has the right weaknesses. Power-Up Punch is awesome because it's a guaranteed method of getting progressively stronger, unlike Superpower, which only makes me progressively weaker. I've had a lot more success using Power-Up Punch than you might think. Also, Swampert's Ground typing offers the invaluable immunity to Electric moves.

Tornadus-T provides the final piece of the trinity I have going on between Politoed and Swampert. Whereas Swampert covers Politoed's vulnerability to Electric-types, Tornadus provides resistance to Grass-types, and can threaten them heavily with Hurricane, which is 100% accurate in the rain. I also gave him Rain Dance, because without permanent rain, I need all the support I can get. Unfortunately, having Rain Dance basically obliges me to have a Damp Rock--an otherwise shitty item that I would rather replace with something like a Life Orb, but oh well. 8-turn rain is very important.

Ferrothorn is obligatory. I would be remiss if I didn't include something so extraordinarily useful in my team. He's essentially a simple trap setter and defensive wall, and anything that touches him will receive a stinging 27% damage. It resists basically everything that matters, and even its main weakness--Fire--it curtailed somewhat by the rain. Thunder Wave is to ensure that no one can outspeed the other teammates.

Zapdos is there just because I like the benefit of 100% accurate Thunder in the rain. He has Rain Dance, too, and he's a Defogger in case my opponent sets up too many hazards. Heat Wave can surprise certain Grass or Bug-types when it's not raining anymore.

Kabutops is another physical sweeper. In retrospect, I should probably swap him out for Omastar or a special sweeper instead, because I already have Swampert. The original idea was to have Zapdos and Tornadus be my special attackers while Swampert and Kabutops were my physical attackers, but Kabutops finds himself vastly overshadowed by Swampert in every way. He has access to different moves like Stone Edge, and his access to Rapid Spin and Aqua Jet carves him a small niche, but when it comes time to sweep, I generally just opt for Swampert instead.

If anyone has any tips, feel free to share.
I would probably swap out kabutops for azumarill
He's a better physical sweeper and you don't really need the rock type move, the fairy attack would be more useful since you have no dragon coverage besides Ice punch.

Also I would give zapdos roost so when he switches Into stealth rocks he can Defog and heal back up

What do you have to kill Fairies? Could chuck a Scizor in there since its only weakness is dampened by the rain

Something I've been using a ton is tank arcanine. Wil o wisp + intimidate shuts down a lot of shit the use morning sun to stay alive

I love that shit

I've been wanting to try out lesser used stuff and Arcanine was always on my list just next to Xatu

Try getting Contrary onto an Arcanine that knows Overheat and Superpower.

:D

Had an idea for Doubles. Lead with a Slaking and Contrary Serperior, then have the Serperior use Gastro Acid on Slaking to get rid of Truant. Then go all out attacking.
Would that work? Provided I don't get Taunted of course.
Yeah. Worry Seed would also have the same effect. Two issues, though:
1. Sacrificing one of your teammate's moveslots for an otherwise useless move may not be the best idea, and
2. The effect wears off as soon as you switch out, so you'd have to keep reapplying it, which is pretty unwieldy.

Sounds like a fun strat, though. I haven't thought of that before. Perhaps Regigigas would make a better beneficiary.
Regigas won't work. Getting rid of Slow Start means you won't get the good stats. It needs to take those 5 turns to get going.
Nah, that's how it worked in the Japanese version, but they fixed it.

Quote
If this Ability is replaced due to a move like Skill Swap or Worry Seed or suppressed by Gastro Acid, the Pokémon's stats return to normal.

In the Japanese version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, removing Slow Start does not undo the Attack and Speed drop; it must still wait five turns. This was changed in localized versions as well as in Platinum.

OH

Cool

I should stop listening to Gamefaqs, heh.

Just need to get my hands on a decent Regigigas

Alternatively, I could send out Slaking and Cofagrigus, and get Slaking to hit Cofag with a weak move so it gets Mummy as the ability.

Then anything that hits Slaking will also get Mummy, which could be quite useful I guess.
