The Flood / It's just a forum, I don't care
« on: October 06, 2016, 07:04:10 AM »
I've seen people say this. I've also seen people say that this a more close-knit forum where it's way less informal and the members are more comfortable and do care about each other in a weird, twisted way.

What do you think? I like to think that this is more like a smaller community than a general forum, we all have our quirks and play off each other, bad shit happens sometimes but we all laugh or cringe at it afterwards.

Not saying I'd want to hang out and chill with you all IRL but... y'know, I like it here. If I got banned I'd probably really miss it.

We aren't toxic to new users. New users just need to try and intergrate themselves into the forum and not act like complete tools

I am hyped for books 8-12. Those were the best ones imo. I mean they're all good, but those were the peak.

I still don't understand people who SR for anything. Showdown's existence should nullify that necessity.

I completely understand wanting to be "legit" or authentic, but I don't know--SRing doesn't exactly scream "legitimacy" to me, either. So when you have resources like Showdown that allow you to cut right to it, it just seems like a total waste of time.

This probably sounds autistic, but I can't stand Showdown because it feels soulless.

Cause it's just battling with no attachment to the Pokemon whatsoever

Yeah, I like my Pokemon to have sentimental value.

Me too, it feels good spending ages to get a good one to raise up.

I want them strictly for collection purposes. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and look at my little collection of shiny legendaries and think 'Ah, I spent time trying to get these. They're nice to look at.'

Ii think it's kind of like how, yeah you can just download a RBY off the eShop but there's something really nice about owning a physical copy too, y'know? You can just look at it fondly every once in a awhile. On Showdown it's super easy to just select them as shiny but actually having them in the game feels... special. Even if nobody else really cares, I'm still proud of my mini collection.
Natures, though?

I mean, the only reason you'd care about natures is if you played competitive, right? That I could understand--and if competitive is all you care about, then Showdown's the way to go imo.

2nd time lucky

Showdown is more convenient but I still enjoy going to local events, battling with friends on cartridges and stuff. If I want a Volcanion on my team then it better be a good one damnit. Especially if the other player's team is properly trained too.

Wait, you can soft reset event legendaries?

FUCK

Yeah, I only found out recently though. Save in front of the woman in the Pokemon Center and check stats, then rest

Dammit, I could've gave my Darkrai that I went all the way to the city for a decent nature. I'm mad at myself.

I feel ya. I could have gotten crazy good stuff. At least I can still reset for Keldeo.
