I've lost a couple of grandparents, but only one I was really that close to and I cried quite hard but I guess I got over it. It's been years since someone I'm close to has died, so I can't even remember how it feels. I don't think I'm very well prepared at all but unfortunately, I guess it's something I'll have to endure.

I'm not a fan of having a platforming-esque boss in a game that has shitty platforming mechanics like taking leaps and trying to navigate janky ass slopes. I have no idea what triggers the OHKO fire pillar attack but it's terrible. It can somehow hit you on the slide or under the tree, too.

Well fuck me, I guess he's canon now. Not what I expected, but since it's gonna be a new character essentially, maybe they can do some actual good with him.

In the time it would take to read this argument I could have written 8 pages of Gwyndolin smut.

Obvious nitpicks aside, DMC1 is pretty great 3 missions in.
Anything obscure i should be aware of?
DT-powered bullets are very handy against certain bosses, if you haven't seen that already.

Uncharted 4 is a good game, but there are a lot of parts where the game just drags on for too long and you'll get bored. Those parts are the segments where you are put into a large area and have to explore it to advance. I found these to be too unnecessary long and tedious when a game like this is supposed to be in-your-face and constantly have you moving.
The cutscenes however are fantastic and big budget Hollywood movie quality. All of the characters have their own cool moments throughout the game. It really feels like you're watching a movie because of how well they are shot.
Overall I wouldn't say that this is the best Uncharted because I still think 2 is the best one.
Would any of that sway somebody who is not at all impressed by the big Hollywood actiony setpieces from the other games?

U4 is better than 2 and 3, but if you didn't like the others you won't like 4.
Glad you feel that way about them. I personally find them to be the most overrated video games of all time, and a symbol of ND's decline as a developer and the quintessential example of why this medium is falling apart.
The main selling point I always see is 'it's like a Hollywood blockbuster with amazing setpieces and action' Which is fine but it doesn't sell me on the game at all. I don't really get impressed by these giant action packed set pieces like climbing through a falling train or plane at all. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, I mean I don't even enjoy the Indiana Jones films much either. If the characters were interesting or the story was good I'd like it more but... eh. Is this seriously supposed to be Playstation's flagship title?

Right, so I recently played through the Uncharted trilogy for the first time, after hearing nothing but praise for them, and... meh.
I didn't find the story particularly interesting, it had one likable character (Sully), the shooting became downright fucking tedious near the end in all games and I don't get impressed by 'Hollywood-like' setpieces at all. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something but I didn't really get anything out of one of the 'greatest franchises ever' at all.
So that being said, I've heard VERY good things about the fourth game, but given how much of an overwhelming MEH the others gave me, is it worth even playing? Does it make an effort to make the shooting less tedious, or have a plot that isn't just 'find the mystical magoo of Walmart' or something? If it's THAT good I'd give it a shot, but I dunno.

You on DMC2 then?
Nah man, I might get 4 and 3, and 5 when it comes out, but 1 and 2 seem really boring tbh. Right now I'm playing Vergil's downfall, after this it's probably gonna be the third game
Vergin a shit, the only good thing about him is his nice coat.

I just see DLC like a dessert
Do I still feel hungry after the main course? If not, cool. I've had my fill, I'm content.
Do I want more? Okay, let's pay a bit extra.

so, i just had a heated argument with a friend that has caused me to triple down on my total opposition to all video game DLC
effective right now, i'm making the moral decision to boycott all DLC (even free stuff), and this includes dark souls
simply put, i'm never paying for "extra" content that should already be on the disc, and i'm making no exceptions—that means i don't give a fuck if the content was developed after the game was released, and i don't even care if it's free, because if it's free, then there's no reason i should have to manually download it in the first place
don't even try to argue with me on this, because i'm not budging—i'm never buying another DLC package again, for any game
so, sorry if you were looking forward to that, but it's guaranteed not happening, at least in this playthrough
Your dedication to salt is to be admired

'Frank, history will never know what she did. No-one will ever learn the truth. He story, her debriefing will endure only in your heart. Everything she did, she did for Philadelphia. She sacrificed her dignity and her self-respect for her work. She was a real broad. She was a true hoor.'

Fuck, that's kinda sad. I mean, they don't really have any reason to keep them and I doubt many people in the overall userbase will even care as much but damn I still have some great memories there. 'Remember elk' was probably my most notable achievement, lol.

I've been rewatching some of my favorite game trailers from over the years, so I was wondering, what are your favorites? What really got me going was the Dishonored trailer. I love the game's version of the 'Drunken Sailor' song, it's haunting but also goddamn catchy and fits the trailer really well. I'd probably have it as my favorite, actually. Metal Gear Solid V's 'Elegia' trailer was also a standout, as much as it kinda hurts to watch now.

2 is shit. 1 is worth playing to see where the series started, and it has things that are expanded on in the third. There isn't really a reason to skip it because it's still a great action game, imo.
