I'm hoping when he actually gets round to voicing Black, he does it with a softer more menacing tone than OG Goku. Kind of like how he sounds during the Kai version of his SSJ speech.

I don't really know how I'd like him to sound in the dub tbh. I mean making him gravelly makes him sound more like an evil version of Goku (which is the point) but then when he's in Rose he acts more regal and proper, so I GUESS the voice suits?
But it's such a bizarre difference between the voices that it really doesn't work that well for me. I think I would have preferred him to keep the gravelly voice but then give it more of a posh touch, rather than just making him fucking straight up British.
His British Rose voice in XV2 should have been used for Merged. It was probably a mistake.

making super an anime series was a mistake
they should have kept the movie format and expanded the story in the same way they are for the manga. it would space out the story nicely as well.
A movie for each saga?
I'd be so down for that. I can't deny that I'm enjoying the Super anime though. I see its issues but it doesn't really bother me. It's just more Dragon Ball for me to just chill back and watch.

The point is, it should, because it's a) not how Goku was intended to be written, and b) it makes him and the experience worse.
If I get too caught up in dissecting it while it's still ongoing, yes it might compromise my enjoyment of it and I don't want that to happen.
See, the problem with that mindset is that it's complacent. You need to, y'know, not be happy with what's being given if you're unhappy with it, not convince yourself you're okay for the sake of maintaining your blissful innocence. Imagine how much happier you'd be if the anime was good; if the anime was the unaltered animated version of the manga.
Come to think about it, didn't the same thing happen with MGSV?
I see what you're trying to get at, but I just don't think it's comparable. MGSV is only similar to Super in the sense that it deviates from what the source material is/has been/should be. But where MGSV differs is that, while it branches off from what was traditionally a staple of the source material, it manages to be good on its own, or in its own way. Super is a bad anime no matter how you swing it, and the only thing keeping it going is nostalgia. But that doesn't have to be the case, because clearly, from what we see in the manga and the two movies, Toriyama can still make cool storylines that don't feel cheap and easy.
That does make sense I guess, but it's not like I can just suddenly switch my brain into disliking it all of a sudden. I still find it entertaining to watch despite being aware of its flaws. I watch anime for entertainment and it fulfills that role for me.

Part of me misses the messianic monkey jesus that he was back in the original Funi dub but I know that's not the way Goku is supposed to be like. I'm glad at least he's straight up admitting now that he's never done it to be some sort of grand savior, he just wants to fight strong guys. I know the manga is the true Dragon Ball experience and I'm going to catch up on it eventually. Anime is something I just like to sit back and enjoy for the time being and pick it apart way later on when it's done. If I get too caught up in dissecting it while it's still ongoing, yes it might compromise my enjoyment of it and I don't want that to happen. It's a new Dragon Ball series, of course I want to enjoy it, I've waited for this shit for years. Hell, I even enjoyed GT while watching it and it wasn't until afterwards that I really sat down and thought about it. Come to think about it, didn't the same thing happen with MGSV?
