I was on Holiday in Spain, in 2003 I think. I had my nice little silver GBA SP with the Incredible Hulk game. My parents bought me one of those 118 games in one cartridges, some of which happened to be Pokemon. There was 'Pokemon Yellow', which I thought was odd because it was a Mario like side scrolling platformer in which you play as Pikachu. Wtf? The other game was Pokemon Sapphire, and I didn't really get hooked at first. I ended up having a team of Zigzagoons named 'ZizzyNo1', 'ZizzyNo2', etc. I didn't get very far because my save was corrupted. I then ended up borrowing my friend's Gold, and fucking loved it. Didn't really know what I was doing, but I made it all the way to Ice Path before I got really, really stuck and ended up giving the game back to him.

When Emerald was released I proudly marched into Woolworths with my own saved up money and purchased it, fell in love. I spent HOURS on the game. I had my cherished Blaziken and Crobat, the best team. I was so into the game that I had friends in school lending me their game to help them with parts they were stuck on. I was heartbroken later on when it was stolen. I spent years feeling bitter about it.

I went to Toys R Us and bought the Pokemon Colosseum+Gamecube mega pak for my birthday later on, and that has a funny story (sort of) attached to it. I had been upstairs playing, and my mum called me downstairs for food. She was carrying a plate, and I wasn't looking where I was going and I walked right into the plate. My front two teeth are still chipped to this day.

I spent about five years soft-resetting a shiny Rayquaza in Soul Silver. Not constant, just periods where I'd do it nonstop every once in a while. The feeling when I finally got it was so fucking sublime, I didn't care that it didn't have a good nature. I FINALLY GOT IT. FUCK YES.

I'm slowly building up my collection, I have nice boxed copies of most of the main series but I'm missing a few. Pokemon is one of those franchises where I'll lose interest for a while but always get drawn back in eventually. My favorite is still RSE because it gives me a really nice warm feeling in my heart when I hear the music and see them sprites. It all has a certain charm to it. Lately it feels like the games have been getting less and less interesting to me, and I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older and my tastes are changing or what. Gen 7 felt like such a let down...

i can't relate, i take my handhelds out in public all the time

some people have this perception that they'll look cringey or whatever, but people either a) don't care or b) think it's cool and interesting and will ask you what you're playing

I play Pokemon if I'm in a waiting room or something but otherwise I can't really concentrate

2045
Yet me and all my friends don't take them out and just play them at home.  I find it hard to enjoy a game if I'm not in a cosy environment so I just nestle in and play the handheld in the same place I play a regular console.

I hope RUTURA SUN and RUTURA MOON aren't just the same story with new added things. Looks like Solgaleo and Lunala combine with Necrozma or some shit. I liked the look of Solagleo though.

Gaming / Sony Exec comments on backwards compatibility
« on: June 06, 2017, 06:56:52 AM »
"It is one of those features that is much requested, but not actually used much."

Quote
The PlayStation 4 does not offer the kind of backwards compatibility support that the Xbox One does, and it sounds like that won't change soon, if comments from a top exec are anything to go on. In a new interview, PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan said backwards compatibility is a much-requested, little-used feature.

"When we've dabbled with backwards compatibility, I can say it is one of those features that is much requested, but not actually used much," Ryan told Time. "That, and I was at a Gran Turismo event recently where they had PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 games, and the PS1 and the PS2 games, they looked ancient, like why would anybody play this?"

The PS4 plays PS3 games through the streaming service PlayStation Now and PS2 games through the PlayStation Store. However, people need to buy the games again, even if they owned them on the earlier hardware.

By contrast, the Xbox One offers a catalog of more than 300 Xbox 360 games--including Red Dead Redemption and Call of Duty: Black Ops II--that don't require a second purchase.

At E3 2015, where and when Microsoft announced backwards compatibility support for Xbox One, PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida said Sony had no plans to offer a backwards compatibility solution of its own on PS4. "Backward compatibility is hard," Yoshida explained at the time. "I won't say we'll never do it, but it's not an easy thing to do. If it was easy we would have done that."

It's time to take a stand

They're talking about it like it's some kind of revolution while sitting around in nice clothes sipping wine while telling you to spend more money on their music

The teenager became trapped in the purifier of his local pool and was unable to free himself because of the suction

A teenager was left fighting for his life after his intestines were sucked out by the filter of a swimming pool
The 14-year-old became trapped in the purifier of his local pool and was unable to free himself because of the force of the suction.

His intestines were then horrifically sucked out, causing him serious injuries and requiring a life-saving operation.
The boy was enjoying a swim in the pool of a private leisure centre in Carpesa, Valencia when the accident happened at 9.30pm.

The emergency services rushed to the scene and freed the youngster who was then taken to hospital.
He underwent a four-hour life-saving operation in La Fe hospital in Valencia and is still in the intensive care unit.

It is understood he is now out of danger.

The boy had been attending swimming lessons and according to witnesses, he and some of the other children had stayed behind afterwards to play in the water.

It is thought the youngsters lifted the purifying vents off and then sat on them. A trainer on the scene turned hero by jumping into the water to save the boy, whilst ordering the mechanism to be switched off.
Other helpers dived under the water where the boy was submerged to breath oxygen into his lungs, according to Valencian newspaper Levante.

"He was only under the water and trapped for seconds until the purifier was turned off but it seemed like hours," a witness told the paper.

An investigation is being carried out by the Civil Guard but all the indications suggest the accident was a direct result of a deadly game.

Errrrrrghhh... Makes me arse tingle.

Do they need to comment on it?

yeah

Why? Maybe they don't even know SSJ2 by name, plus they seemed a bit occupied with at the time

also 1k get WOO

at this point ss2 might as well just be ss1 anyway so

I reckon SSJ1 should have stayed looking the way it did when it was first introduced, with the less defined ice cream hair. It would have made SSJ2 stand out more.
