He’s a real son of a something else 😂

When he does that load up charge you can roll into him when he slashes, it’s a small opening but you’ll get the hang of it. Also that rock can be used to really cheese this boss (which is what I did), by getting an ability for the sword where you do a load up attack. It’s RB + B for me on an Xbox controller I’m not sure what that is on PlayStation. But definitely get that move dude it’s excellent. When the enemy is down you can do that attack THEN do a finishing move, which is really useful to take a big chunk of health from a boss on harder difficulties.

I really struggle with human-sized enemies. Big ugly beasties are fine, but the smaller quick dudes are a real issue.
What do you have trouble with specifically?

I think it's because they're smaller, faster and I have more trouble reading their attacks and dodge timings.
Yeah it’s a little tough at first but you’ll pick it up as you go along.

I'm somewhat decent at fighting those revenants and human sized enemies with that move where you do a flip over them, but speedier smaller dudes can SMD. I guess it's a learning process, I mean I found those wheelmonks DREADFUL at first but now they're not so bad.

Would you count Pokemon games? I mean they've had mythicals and legendaries as downloadable content.

Though you could say USUM were basically DLC...

i don't get the hype either, beyond the fact that it came out of development hell and the fact that it looks kinda cool (but only kinda)

it has sex and naked people in it though so this is obviously a step forward into making video games a Mature Artistic MediumTM

Are you against all sex and nudity in general or just when it's gratuitous and shoved in your face?

Because if it's just kind of in the background during a scene it just seems like worldbuilding to me, without the game shying away from people who may be offended by it. If it's appropriate to the scene then why not?

Beat that lightning fucker. His roar > x4 lightning attack killed me a fair few number of times at first
Damn great job dude. That one for me is really annoying at a low level, I remember his lightning attack would kill me in one hit. 😩😩

One thing though, when you get an enemy’s ki down and it’s red, just keep attacking until their ki comes back because you won’t be in any danger as each attack stun locks them. There’s also a combo for mid stance where you can break your combo at any time with a backflip slice which is great for what you seek to be doing a lot with bosses. That way you back off but you get in another slash which is more powerful than your low stance attacks.

Oh shit, really? My usual tactic is to just get 2-4 hits in then fuck off, I'll try doing that. I'm guessing there's no context-sensitive finisher-type attacks you can do to them like you can with regular enemies?
Yeah you’ll find the name of the game is reducing their ki and getting finishing moves on humanoid bosses or stun locking the bigger ones. So imagine you get their ki to red then activate living weapon, you’re doing a shit ton of damage. Also, Kato is basically the best spirit in the game even when you get to the end of the game.

Oh cool, thanks for the tip. I tend to forget I can even activate living weapon sometimes I should use it more. Hella damage

holy fuck that’s amazing did you let them do this?

Nope, I only just saw it while scrolling through FB. From what I've read, Indonesians don't really get copyright stuff so they just kinda use whatever. It's just a small food place though, and it's not like they're making millions off it so it's cool. I'm more just amused than anything, hah.

Damn I just saw this man I’ve been super busy. What are your thoughts so far?

Combat's nice and fluid, I'm enjoying it more than Souls, gameplay wise. I feel like I have a lot more to take in in terms of mechanics and features though. I've ran into one or two questionable enemy placements but apart from that it's great! I'm currently stuck on that second boss, Hiroki Emma or something.
Yeah dude the combat is awesome huh. You want a tip for Hino Enma?

yes please
Activate your living weapon right next to her and it’ll knock her down then just go off on her until she gets up. If you can’t kill her in that time get away fast because she does like a little spin and links into a grab attack which can kill you.

Add me on Steam if you want I’ll help you out.

Sweet, thanks my dude I'll see if that works

I'm on PS4 :(
Oh too bad. Good luck anyways. Make sure you’re online and fight revenants you can get really good gear.

This is what I got on me currently. Figured I'd just stick to Health, Ki and Sword Damage.
You should level up Skill and Spirit, possibly Dexterity. Shouldn’t you do Strength if you’re using a spear?

I thought I'd want a spear at first but after giving it a go I don't really like them
So what are you using?

I've got a sword and an axe on my offhand. I'll get a screenshot later. I'm trying to keep my equip load in the 70-90% range so I can swing a good few times and still keep a decent amount of stamina
Honestly I don’t see the point of having heavy armor as even the lightest armor can be as good as a full set of heavy armor later on in the game. Also did you get all the DLC?

The season pass is on sale too so I mght, but I wanted to see if I liked the game itself first before buying it. Would you reccommend going for a lower equip load, then? I guess it's better to not get it at all.
Yeah I would. You guess it’s better to not get what at all?
Whoops, typo. I meant to say it's better to not get hit at all, which would get rid of the need for heavier armor.
Yeah definitely. You want to block and dodge like crazy, getting hit should be a last resort if you know what I mean. But most importantly play very aggressive. Wait for opening the to attack safely of course but you want to have to dance around with enemies too much. Play it more like Ninja Gaiden than Dark Souls.

I do try to be hyper aggressive with different stances and finishers and stuff. I fucking love that low stance move where you do some cool jumping attack, and the parry. I'm surprised by how much damage the sword blocks, too.

Nice, and just also get into the habit of getting behind enemies and attacking cause that does extra damage.

That's what I try do do. I've also noticed that sometimes I'm able to instantly put those buff yokai dudes into the red after a single attack, is it some sort of directional critical hit from the front?
Yeah that’s when you cut their horns. You can also shoot them there or activate your living weapon close to them to break their horns.

I diiiiid it, had to be pretty patient  and bait out certain attacks but phewww

”oh noooooo” hahaha good work dude. You nailed the timing on her paralysis attacks. Thanks for the video it’s always interesting to me to see people’s playthroughs.

Cheers, felt well satisfied after it! I forgot I had the audio sharing on haha

I'll probably be recording all my boss wins, I usually do for these types of games. Do they uhh... get way harder later on? I heard a couple of people say Emma was harder than some late game ones
Haha yeah. Yeah I read that too when I first started playing but there are quite a few that I find way harder than her. Especially in the DLC and the harder difficulties.

Looking forward to it then. I think I'm getting the hang of the blacksmith more now and I gotta say, soul matching and refashioning is an incredible feature.
