Gaming / Re: Favourite/least favourite mission? | MGSVTPP Thread
« on: September 09, 2015, 08:46:37 PM »
To answer the thread question my least favorite mission is the one where you have 15 minutes to destroy as many trucks as possible. I hate it because it has no checkpoints and I died when I was on the way out of the hot zone >:(((

Replaying it is a bitch because you need to wait the whole 15 minutes every time. And you need to replay it multiple times in order to get all the mission tasks.

I think my favorite mission was either the Total Stealth version of Pitch Black, or Skull Face. Those missions required top stealth and I loved them.

Here's one for you, boss.

Eh I like my current one. I like the lighting on it.

yeah, me too

just for if you get bored of your avatar
I shall steal when the time is right.

Gonna turn the HUD off and try and get some nice screenshots tomorrow. There's a setting that makes it so your gun and ammo only show up on your screen if you are currently aiming it, which is cool. Might keep using that setting.

This is why Dark Souls is for retards.

Eh the game can be pretty cryptic. When it first came out I just gave up and stopped playing it and just read some wikis and watched lore videos and along the way I just kind of picked up what to do in the game. Fast forward about 2 years and I beat it, it was enjoyable. People say that going in already knowing stuff ruins the experience but I still had fun.

This. I was like "hurr durr this game sucks ass ill never play it again" when I was in the Asylum. I thought the mechanics and gameplay was a heap of dog shit. I put the game down for a few months, and then returned when I was really bored one day. I persisted, and well, it turns out to be one of the best games I've ever played.
It's a bit of a slog at first but when I got past Sen's I knew I was in it for good. Never looked bacl :)

It took you to get to Sen's for the game to sink its hooks into you? Jeez, I got hooked after the Burg.
I think it was because it took until Sen's for me to really get into the flow and finally realize I may be able to beat the game. Everything up to then I just kind of stumbled through, and Sen's felt like the make or break point of the game for me. It's like From put it there as a way of saying 'Alright, you made it here. Now are you definitely sure you want to push on? Yes? Good, go get them champ.'

Then you get to Anor Londo. Full of dangerous walkways and towering giants. And you just think to yourself 'Well I said I was gonna push on so fuck it, let's do this!'

Oh yeah, I remember it was because I followed a guide. I value a functioning controller and an enjoyable game instead of a broken controller and a more enjoyable, albeit frustrating game.

But seriously, FUCK those fucking archer knights in Anor Londo. Cunts.
I don't think I would have been able to finish it if I didn't know what I was doing by reading a guide. Sure some people may see it as cheapening the experience but fuck those guys, I want to know how to find stuff and make the game more manageable.

And fuck those assholes they still give me trouble. Good thing they stagger pretty easily

It came to a point where I'd just get a summon solely for the purpose of suiciding for those archer knights. It's the most difficult part of the game for me.
I finished the whole thing without Summoning, soloing O+S with Super Ornstein was the great highlight of the game for me. It's not as hard when you realize you can ignore the Knight on the left.

The one on the left still manages to fuck me over.

Y'know, now that I'm more experienced at the game I might give it a try without summoning. Could be fun.

I remember I had to beat the Four Fags without a summon, because nobody puts signs down in New Londo. It was a nightmare.
There's a summon for The Four Burger Kings? o_O

If you really want to, I guess you could max out your equipment to its highest, but I wouldn't do anything beyond that.

Don't overdo it man. Don't ruin the game for yourself. It's more fun if you level up naturally.

How does someone become human in this game?
Use a humanity so you get a '1' in the corner of your screen by your health bar. Then you can reverse hollowing at a bonfire and become human. And if you're human, you can use another humanity at a bonfire, boosting your Estus to 10. Not sure if you knew that.
Oh wow I actually didn't know that. I haven't been human for the entirety of the game so far.
I beat the whole game solo. I didn't even know you could kindle the bonfire until about halfway through. It really does help, believe me.  Don't use humanities for summoning other players, I'd reccommend you'd save them for kindling bonfires :)

Also you can get an item which lets you get your Estus all the way up to 20. Quite useful and you can get it at any time really if you feel like a bit of a sprint.

I heard the new Aftermath book wasn't that great, but that might have just been salty EU fans.

It's both. Salty EU fans actually spammed the Amazon page with bad reviews because they're angry the EU was retconned.
Which isn't to imply that the book is all that great, because from what I've heard it's not. I read the preview excerpt a while back and the writing style is awful. "The entire book. Written in short statements. Third person. Present tense. Just like this."

My only interest in the book is from a canon standpoint; what happens post RoTJ. Thankfully, online plot synopses spare me from having to read it.
The author is quite snappy in his blog posts too. But he does have a point sometimes.

So... does the water gun work on vulgan or nah?

According to my guide, with the fully upgraded water pistol it takes about 50 shots with it to stun him.

I just stand in the pool of water and use the Hand of Jehuty to pull him into the water with me, ending the battle instantly.

don't have the hand of jehuty yet :(

looks like im doing it the old fashioned way

It's not that great, tbh. The range on it kinda sucks at first. If you want it, capture the Legendary Ibis in Africa.

You can Fulton Volgin too if you can stun the Boy.

Amazing! That right there is why you're the Boss.
Thank you Mr Snake, is there anything you want on it, like a background or details?

Maybe a flag with "OUTER HEAVEN" on it with a sunset like in the Nuclear trailer?

It's so fucking frustrating how everyone is so much stronger than me.
The thing about Dark Souls combat is anyone can beat anyone, you just need the skill do to it. Try practicing rolling and parrying.

I'm still terrible at it myself though
To be honest I have terrible vitality. I need to level that up like crazy before I will be able to take all of these guys on. My weapon does like 220 damage in one hit. I still only leave a tiny little scratch on all of these guys when I try to attack them. Whereas inversely, they all take away like half of all of my health, or the majority of my health in one hit. That's because my vitality is still in the teens of number levels.

Did you pick a weapon that scales with your stats? Also, upgrading your equipment is usually more important than upping stats.
At this point I need large titan shards to get my equipment leveled up that high. My favorite weapon so far is the halbert because of it's versatility. I have that thing at an ascended +2. It's powerful as fuck, it's like 224 damage. It's still not powerful enough to put much of a dent in the enemies I face online. I don't really know what you mean by finding a weapon that matches my stats.
Okay, there are weapons that scale with Strength and Dexterity. There are some weapons that level up with just one of them. Depending on which of those stats you level up, a weapon with a good scaling stat will benefit more.

Like a weapon that has an A scaling in strength will do better with a high strength stat, get it?
