I don't see how they could use a cuttlefish of all things.
Apparently it was meant to rapidly increase the creatures growth, thats why it grew so quickly, but (I dont know my cuttlefish) they have a form of camouflage, where they can change the colour of their skin.
So yeah they shoved the genes of a cuttlefish into it, as well as everything else, cause "what the fuck could go wrong?"
No, I get the chromatophores part. But I don't understand the genetics of mixing a cephalopod with reptiles.

But a chameleon would've made more sense. Heck, they had a chameleon in the lab at the end!
