Gaming / Re: Forced walking sections in games

The MGS V one has to be the worst one in a long LONG time. It's just too fucking long.

which one are you referring to
Just take one guess

if i were you id probably be talking about the hallway where you kill the infected soldiers with the peace walker theme playing

the jeep ride isnt a forced walking sequence, youre just travelling to your destination. its awkward but its not insulting in the same way forced walking is.
No you dope, the very fucking beginning when you take 3 hours stumbling around like a moron.

and meh, the jeep bit is bad because they just awkwardly stare at one another for like 4 mins and it's been handled in previous games better before.

oh, yeah. i completely overlooked the prologue, probably because it was really well done. at least in spectacle, anyway.

my point was though about the jeep, that it doesn't really count as a hand hold. it's a different kind of bad.
I wish I could forget about the prologue. The cutscenes were cool, but watching Snake struggle and fall over 10 times got old quick.

fair enough, but there are still better reasons to hate boxing than that
I hate it because it's boring, the referees, while qualified, I've seen more than once let a player get hit in the face again and again when only the ropes were keeping them up, and it's just a relic of the past that has lost all of its luster. No one wants to see two guys hitting each other every so often and hugging for most of it.

Don't get me wrong, the people boxing are tough as nails, and there is a lot of mechanics that go into it that are VERY technical. It's just all boring to watch now a days.

That's a good thing. It's bad to think that's a bad thing
The other ones are safe as well, they just allow more precision. It's nowhere near the UFC gloves. It's a weird weight thing Las Vegas has with its rules. Thing about boxing is it's just a bunch of archaic bullshit that got left in the past and has been a very boring sport since Tyson retired. Tyson even told young aspiring athletes to go to MMA because that's where the future is at. Not that you care.

Anyway, reason it's declining is because of what I mentioned earlier, and just as many people, if not more, find the sport repulsive.

Yeah, 'cause they should be fighting with metal boxes around their hands so that when someone gets punched their brain shatters and then they get knocked out because that's how conussions work.
Or 8 ounce gloves...

Quote
Everyone knows that the harder you punch, the easier the brain breaks.
The harder the head gets hit the more likely you are to get brain damage? Woah.

Quote
Plus, because they're so hard they increase the risk of cutting your opponent, which not only increases the chance of a match being called off, but it makes for a more gorey and fun sport.
Boxing gloves rub, not cut. UFC gloves are 4 ounce and cut much easier. That's why they rub vaseline on their noses and foreheads before each UFC match.

Can this stupid boxing fight or whatever it is get over with already.
"waaaah I don't like people having fun over stuff I don't like"
"waaaah i don't like people disliking stuff that i like, especially since it exposes my lack of morals"
"waaaah i like to tell everyone they're wrong just so i can ride my high horse and feel superior to cope with my otherwise boring and shitty life for another day"
what's wrong with that
I'm not being serious

you just come off as pretentious and narcissistic almost all the time is all

if i don't understand boxing, why is it that the more i DO learn about it, the more i fucking hate it

it's almost like you're fucking wrong
A serious answer:

Everyone hates boxing, just not for the reasons you do. It's a boring as HECK sport and they smack each other with pillows. 10 ounce gloves are super soft and easy to hide behind.

That, and much like the NFL, once people found out that "hey maybe getting hit in the head so much isn't a good idea" correlates with concussions, the sport rapidly fell off (you're seeing the NFL deal with it as well, as well as players actually retiring at younger ages so they don't go brain dead by age 45). The only reason people are fricking about it is because this plays into the whole "what if X fought X?" like those stupid "who would win in a fight? x or x?"

Once Mayweather and Pacquiao are out of boxing, it'll be boring once more (it already is). They're the only two fighters that draw attention from anyone who's but the purest boxing fans.

God damn he embarrassed that motherfucker LMAOOOOOOO "sit quiet you little bitch"
Oh fuck you, they muted his mic. He couldn't say shit.
The potato farmer is going down
I was 95% sure Mayweather would win, but seeing him talking has me doubtful. It's like both fighters fear the other one. It's a sign of maturity, but still.
We all know they were told to just hype up the fight. The build up to them singing was them just showing respect to one another, and then when it's signed this happens. It's just to sell it is all, which is what McGregor is great at doing. I bet you after it's all done they'll go back to like nothing happened.

Maybe with that 100 million Mayweather can finally take classes on how to read

The poor fool. I mean he's good at what he does, but it really is kinda sad. Both pathetic kinda sad and sympathetic.

If McGregor loses I'll move to Alaska with PSU.
I means odds are he will lose. I think this is universally seen as more of a spectacle than an actual fight. It's been a long time since we've had an event that was actually just for entertainment like this.

I expect McGregor to lose because Mayweather knows how to defend/counter, but yeah.

Now just do the Subsistence release on PC. MGS 1, 2, 3, and the original games. Make it like $40. I'd buy it.

It was easily one of the cooler moments in a game if you ask me. I haven't really felt so paranoid and tense about my squads safety and well being than in that mission, and I never felt like I was safe.

Yeah idk, it was raised here, but getting more ammo =/= the game is suddenly not scary. You can still easily manage to scare people with psychological things, surprise attacks, and the fact only a few hits kill you. It doesn't just have to be cat and mouse.

I had a shit ton of ammo in RE3 but still got nervous as heck when the Nemesis theme played because you know he's either gonna be in the next room, or break through a wall/window soon.

4 is that start of the downfall

You're in the minority there.
Good game, just started the downfall of RE.

Doesn't mean the games bad, the next game that followed suit was bad.
I agree with this. 4 easily set the precedent of going the more action stuff. In fact it happened in RE4 once you reach the island and it was nothing BUT action after that. They went a drastically different direction because of the meh sales the RE1 remake got, but it was on Gamecube only and that was a system that not everyone really had, so they kinda fucked themselves.

No one knows yet about 7 really. He might be involved, but it was more or less kind of a soft reboot. Keeping mostly independent of other RE games until the very end run.

I loved Outbreak 1 tbh

As for RE6's gameplay, nah, a lot of the gameplay was just shit. They felt too loose at times, the cover system was horrid, and the camera ripped away from you so damn much to show something 20 feet away.
