that still doesn't make the story bad, it makes its execution bad Eh, idk dude. The entire thing from the main baddie, to Metal Gear for whatever reason, to Big Boss not really being Big Boss and he's actually a better person and it's some retarded metaphor or whatever, is all just terrible. The characters are also just boooooring as hell minus like two people. Troy Baker managed to get the most boring Ocelot ever. as for boss fights, they aren't really here, and that's fine. if you think a lack of boss fights somehow makes a game bad, you need to kill yourself. Not a game bad, just takes away from what Metal Gear is given how the entire series has managed to have some memorable boss fight in one game or another, even if the execution wasn't always there. helicopter times are annoying, but they don't somehow detract from the game when you're actually in control Yeah but they also take away from the overall product because you're wasting so much damn time in the thing. It's atrocious. And the fact the credits roll that spoil whos going to be in that story mission. Maybe it was a mistake saying it was gameplay, but from an overall package, it's just such a terrible decision to do and you waste so much time with it. It's like that same animation in a game that looks cool at first, but the fact you have to do it so frequently, it gets horrible and time consuming. you sound like those people that try to argue halo 4's soundtrack is bad because it doesn't fit their subjective definition of halo's """sound"""
I could go on about how Halo 4 failed as a Halo game, from a story standpoint, all the way to 343 fucking up the aesthetic of it.

I have to go to bed and i'll reply tomorrow, but Snake seriously take a chill pill on your arguing. Telling me to kill myself over something you disagree with me on is way too childish.
it's more fun this way
makes you come off a bit autistic that you can't freak out over disagreements for a franchise you enjoy

good job refuting me
Can't refute people who refuse to change their opinions. You're becoming a fine clone of verbatim.
To be fair I've gotten Verb to change his opinion on something before, or at least understand my position on it and be more understanding towards it. Anyway, NIGHT!

Trump is helping the US rapidly step back, but at the same time it's emboldening Europe to reaffirm its military power, as well as make deals with people like China. The EU after the French elections seems to be past its crisis, but reform still obviously needs to happen if it wants to be a united thing. I've posted about this before a lot, but one thing I wish the US would do is abandon Saudi Arabia because the founders of Wahhabism, who still tout that radical thinking, are in no way shape or form our "allies".
Iran hates us because we ousted their democratically elected leader, installed a puppet, and that led to more shit. I feel if we embraced Iran, who yes while also funding terrorism, aren't nearly as big about it as Saudi Arabia, things might be going a lot more smoothly.

I don't have much time to reply, so here I'll just link this instead And sorry, I thought the cassette tapes were shit, and the boss fights were atrocious. Boss fights in MGS games are always a big part of it. It was awful in this game. I don't think it's fair that what you consider bad vs good gameplay decisions and design seems to be arbitrary. It's part of the whole package.

honestly i prefer mgsv's "problems" because at least what little story is there isn't insultingly bad and there's a fantastic execution of a game to enjoy.
Yeah those boss fights are amazing, and that "story" really is in depth. You know, the ones where you're listening to cassette tapes that'll get drowned out by in game dialogue, so your best bet is to just stand in one spot staring at the screen being brain dead, or wandering around in the open not advancing the story so you can hear it all. Metal Gears main appeal has always been the characters and story it's had, along with its fantastical boss fights, and MGS V failed on every single one of those. It even found a way to make someone as interesting as Big Boss, boring as shit.

highly polished game
Yeah but so is every Metal Gear directed by Kojima.
MGS V is not that polished in terms of story and gameplay decisions :^)
"gameplay decisions"
mgsv is an extremely polished game
Refer to my last post. When you're on your feet it can be, but the decisions to getting there? No. It's horrible. It encompasses everything wrong with open world games if you ask me, in fact even worse so.

The hatred around this game has always seemed like completely irrational hysteria to me.
As for MGSV, I can actually understand from a story standpoint why the game gets shit on. MGS4? No.
They're both very valid, but I think MGS V just fails to be a Metal Gear Solid game entirely. It just... ruins so much of everything every other game has built up. It's only saving grace is the gameplay, but even then you can argue you're just doing so much pointless repetitive things, what with the same rescue missions coming out of the same helicopter with the same animations and about 20 seconds of doing nothing. That's not even taking into account the vast emptiness of getting from one point to another, or that there are only two maps in the entire game.

Fate/Extella is fine with it though
And Dynasty Warriors games are just more or less campy telling of loose history. It's not about super challenging gameplay. Some people just love racking up the kills and having fun. Don't get me wrong, it's mindless gameplay with no real details to it, but games like Dynasty Warriors 7's cutscenes and actual telling of the history was amazing, and 8's gameplay was pretty fun for those who enjoy it.
They make the games for the fans who enjoy them and never try to grab a new audience. That's fine with me.
Though it sounds like the Gundam one didn't have much going for it.

I can't wait for them to butcher the characters and make them cookie cutouts of their former selves
They did the same thing with P4's cast.

Just watched it, and honestly, it made me appreciate the game a lot more and remember why I loved playing through it the first time. I kinda hated it in retrospect but when put side to side with MGS 5 on a lot of details, MGS 4 just beats it in so many ways because it is true to the series and it remembers what made it great. Where as MGS 5 kinda just does... everything different.
It also hit on the point that made me feel as old as Snake, in that when you visit Shadow Moses again you realize just how much time has passed in the game, just like it has in real life. Where as we were young kids in elementary school playing MGS 1, we're now grown men, older, just like the things we're seeing before it. And it just hits so well on how old the environment is, drawing direct lines with how old the series has gotten and that maybe it really should finally rest once and for all, much like Snake. I think Kojima wanted his series to end before it got to a point everyone went "yeah it's just not good anymore", and sadly he never really got to do that due to money demands, and we see just how aged and out of ideas it is with MGS V. Don't get me wrong, MGS V's gameplay is the best in the series, but it really says something when a series of this caliber, a pillar of storytelling in the entire video game franchise, has a weaker story than even that of Metal Gear Revengeance.
I love MGS, and I'll always look back fondly on it, even if MGS V did leave a bad taste in my mouth, as I'm sure it did with almost everyone who played it, be it the lack of story or the things happening outside of the game with Kojima/Konami. That being said, I know I can always pick the games back up and sit back and enjoy the story, voice acting, and cutscenes, just as much as I did the first time around. In fact I might even appreciate them more with time.
I don't think a game series can ever quite do what MGS did

Worry not, for anything with MGS in the title I shall check. I'll watch the vid soon.
One thing I will say I like is the game did the thing where cutscenes were actually cutscenes instead of you being forced to slow walk as characters have a dialogue dump. There was a video about that shitty trend in gaming and how it really kinda started with Gears of War.

memes aside, the hate for bethesda really is quite overblown though
fallout 3 was aight
i can't imagine going back and suddenly hating it when i play the first two
It was alright, yeah. I just think their writing was very black and white a lot of times But the world of Fallout 3 itself was so much more creative than what they gave us in Fallout 4. Boston is without a doubt the most boring of the Fallout locations, with its only saving grace being the verticality of the city. And that's not even going into how poorly optimized it is going in that city.

I hate Israel's enemies more. Killing civilians isn't right no matter what.
Neither is constantly taking land that isn't yours, bombing civilians indiscriminately, and killing them at the borders
They fit the stereotype of a greedy Jew so damn well
Didn't the British give it to the Jews? And if you are being attacked you have the right to defend yourself.
Wasn't the British, it was a combination of a lot of nations. And yes, but when the enemy gives up and says they won't fight you, and you keep pushing them back under the guise of "we're defending ourselves", it no longer holds up. Especially since everyone wants a two state solution but the conservatives running the Israeli government.
Maybe everyone outside of the middle east.
Palestine wants it too. So does the younger generations in Israel. Saudi Arabia and Iran are too busy trying to get power from one another to worry about it.

Brotherhood of Steel is the only one that actually got any attention with the writing. Much like Fallout 3.
waaaah waaaaah
Shut the hell up. Bethesda Fallout games have some of the richest lore in any RPG ever made. It really annoys me to see these constant threads about Bethesda are bad Bethesda can't make decent RPG's I get really pissed because Bethesda RPG's are the only games that are RPG's and are fun. You're all idiots.
Dark Souls is fun though.
Dark Souls isn't an rpg...
RPG's don't all have to be turn based things. It most certainly has RPG heavy elements in it. It's an action RPG. Action role-playing video games (abbreviated action RPG or ARPG) are a subgenre of role-playing video games. The games emphasize real-time combat (where the player has direct control over characters) over turn-based or menu-based combat. These games often use action game combat systems similar to hack and slash or shooter games.
Action role-playing games may also include action-adventure games that include a mission system and RPG mechanics, or massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) with real-time combat systems.

Don't go too far down that slippery slope
