Gaming / Re: Dark Souls 3

I think it's the weakest of the 3. Not saying it's a bad game, since the "worst" of a Dark Souls is still good.

Leans too much on DS1 which is only doing a good job reminding you how much better Dark Souls 1 is

Doesn't try to go original and in a new direction like 2 did, even if it wasn't successful every time (and they removed dual wielding stances for weapon arts, which is basically just 3 to 4 different sets).

and the PvP is a joke

I like some aspects, I just feel the assassination thing is a serious downgrade. I'll render my verdict fully later though, I'm still insanely early in it.

Yeah I've been playing it. I don't mind it, but I honestly miss the old Assassins Creed. By that I mean just the movement, way things work, etc. This game is basically a soft reboot and it's kind of sad to see the old formula be completely gone. I feel it was fine and you could just work on combat from that, and I miss from the last two installments how it was a Hitman style assassination kinda thing where it showed you a cutscene of things going down at the assassination event, and you could have multiple ways to get to your target and get kills.

It feels kinda plain so far in this one.

Depth of field I like on in some games

The worst part is Net Neutrality has a few shitty issues that really stick out, and the same is true if it were gone. The monopolies right now are currently shit, that much is true

but having a level playing field is also a plus

What's some things that annoy the shit out of you in video games, regardless of what setting/genre it is?

For me? It'd be having a whiny fucking protagonist for a character. I've been trying to beat Tales of Zestiria lately and OH MY GOD the main character Sorey is such a fucking pussy. I'll spare you the details and just sum it in to this

"We can't kill anyone! We have to save them!"

Yeah, let your imagination wander with that and you have it. Doesn't help his voice is raspy, which annoys me. Raspy voices annoy me. Fuck you, Sorey.

Andromeda simply because of the actual gameplay and crew behind it not doing a full fleged game before. Big mistake.

Battlefront for the horrible loot box and PR decisions

That's cool and all, but the main argument against that is that it's only showing how pretty you can be. It doesn't actually affect in game combat or mechanics, like Battlefield was, giving someone an unfair advantage.

Idk about you, but I think of two things with both of these things

1. When you have a bunch of cosmetics it just screams to me "look how much money I'm spending!"

2. I get hot and bothered for the playing field being equal and skill and knowledge dictating how well someone does, not perks or powered up things

I still need to beat Spirit Tracks

tried doing Skyward Sword just because I DO wanna beat them all, but since it didn't work I might just have to settle for a darn YouTube movie of it. Even if it's bad, it's Zelda and I need to experience it in some form.
honestly, i'd just play it yourself if you still have it

there still are people who think it's the best one, and there are plenty of aspects that i loved about it

but in terms of what i look for in zelda, it just missed the boat completely

i'm not really sure what you look for in zelda
As stupid as it sounds, I just look for a mixture of the funny, dramatic, exploration, and lovely music

The issue however is I couldn't quite play it because the controls just weren't working so I'd be stuck.

I mean I wanna play Fire Emblem Warriors too because I'm a FE fan and love female Corrin in every single way. Glad they focused on her more than the male version, because as much as I love Yuri Lowenthal's voice, the design for male Corrin is EH.

4? I'm just kinda side commenting. Not getting into your two's argument lol.

Though I will say in terms of Dynasty Warriors, there IS depth in the subsequent games, just not that much in combat aside from simple combos. They really are just kinda brain dead hack and slashes, and I get my enjoyment out of them for the more memorable characters and events. DW used to essentially just be tech demos to show how impressive the PS2/360 could handle so many things on screen at once.

I don't really hate on the games though because the developers make the games for the fans that like them and cater only to them. It's a niche thing, but I can respect a developers decision to do that, rather than try and change everything and sell out to get more people to play it. Too many games I loved have been ruined by that (Dead Space, Resident Evil, Dead Rising to just name a few).

Ninja Gaiden is a hack n slash game but you need to know the combos and be damn good at dodging and blocking to live
if a game actually requires skill and timing and shit to win, it's not really a hack n slash, it's just an action game

the whole point of hack n slash is that they're mindless entertainment for 12 year olds who don't like thinking that much
I thought hack n slash games were games where you use a sword and combos a lot or something.

The combat in Nier for example is less  complex than NG, but I wouldn't go so far as to say you can button mash your way through it.
There is a difference between hack and slash and action hack and slash (as stupid as it is). Action usually has things you see in Bayonetta/MGR/whatever where as hack and slash is things more akin to Dynasty Warriors. I would basically say one actually takes more effort than the other and generally has levels that are more linear and bosses and all that.

Nier is also an Action RPG.

One of the few good things to come out with Link Between Worlds. This legitimately has to be one of my favorite Zelda tracks ever.
yeah, that's a pretty good song

though, i don't really share the distaste some of you seem to have for ALBW
I don't dislike it. I just think it was a very run in the mill experience for a Zelda game. Nothing really made me go "wow, that was amazing" like things in others I've mentioned.

What's wrong with Hyrule Warriors
It's a musou game so if you don't like how Dynasty Warriors plays at all, you wouldn't like this.
what's a musou game
dynasty warriors as a franchise

i know but what kind of genre is it

i could look it up i guess
One man vs 1000 just kinda hacking and slashing via pretty combos

Not gonna get comprehensive with it but

2D: Link to the Past

3D: Wind Waker

I enjoyed Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, but Wind Waker has something magical feeling to it (along with Ganondorf being a tragic villain). Same with LTTP, because I played Link Between Worlds and didn't feel that same magic.

Belgian Gambling Commission (regulatory part of ministry of justice) has just launched an investigation into BF2 for its loot boxes and whether it constitutes a form of gambling. Watch this go to the ECJ and set an international precedent.
I’m glad shit is moving forward on this, really. I don’t think Battlefront 2 was the tipping point of this, but more so the culmination of what loot boxes have become, and peoples patience on them. 2017 has really been, at least in the 4th quarter, the time when people have really been scrutinizing it.

We’ll see if anything really comes from it.
