I think it's more a cultural thing than it is a logic thing. I think they're (and this is just my guess) paying respects to the writing/culture to where the game takes place, because in the dubbed anime, they don't say anything like "kun" or "san". The most you get is "sensei" with one of the characters, and obviously that's been ingrained into our culture here as well.

I get that XIV is great fun with friends (which is why I was trying to level up on your data center but you all seemed to have abandoned the game) but let's be honest here, the general player base of XIV is absolutely awful and I'd rather just have my NPC squadron do dungeons with me than a random in the DF. Every game is better with friends but that doesn't mean you can't have an offline MMO that works.
And XII inspired XIV, without XII we wouldn't have XIV.
The general player base of FF 14 from what I've ran into is rather nice and easy going to talk to. I see people helping others out all the time when I'm just in one random area, or just being friendly. As for the game, I'm (we're) waiting for the expansion. There isn't much to do anymore until then. And I'd say FF 11 is what inspired 14, considering it was the MMO and there are references from it, to FF 14.

Yes, because they're Japanese and it's only getting a dub in the language, not the culture. The last time Persona tried to replace that shit for Western audiences was Persona 1, and it's retarded.    Trying to mask it as them not being in Japan and not speaking Japanese is stupid. It's merely dubbed so you can understand it, but the culture and writing is still going to be the same. It's like when Japanese things are dubbed over American things. The 90's is over with shitty and disrespectful translations.

To be fair, the Jamal-kun thing is stupidly funny simply because such an American name in a Japanese world is so out of place  It's retarded. For context, his actual name is Yu Narukami. and yeah, you can skip out on romance options like the animu does. Well, until the Golden Anime, which was complete dog shit due to the piss poor animation.  and much more. One bit I can't find where the girl has her head turned 180 degrees backwards, and two of the same main character are on screen.

Most games are more fun if you have a group of friends to play it with. I know what it's like to fly solo. I do a lot of times in a lot of games. It's why I don't voice chat ever with my friends when I'm playing something story heavy. As for things like the cyber sex public lobby, I don't see that happen in FF 14 at all, and you can report people if they do.
And generally in any MP game, you're gonna run into that harassment. I run into it more on Battlefield than I do with MMO's. Thankfully you can mute the chat.
Overall though, it's not a headache fest at all, really. Most MMO's I've played aren't like that at all.
And yeah online fee's do suck, but I think it is justified in FF 14 since it's like the most frequently updated MMO on the market.

I've splereged out there - BF1 did feature other fronts. I'm thinking of some other WW2 game. Can't remember the name.
I know Big Red One did only the Americans, but I liked it because it was your same band of brothers through Africa, Sicily, and Normandy/Europe. Personally I wouldn't mind a spiritual successor to that or a remake.

I'm back. First I apologize for the post before, I was stressed over this HW stuff I had to do. But as for your post, I would argue MMO stuff involves some basic human interaction. Not so much Dark Souls since all you're doing is emote spamming someone anyway. But MMO's have chats, clans, emotes, co-op, etc.

I remember my friend once got me to play persona 4 on his PS3 once.
I can honestly say that after two hours of playing I was just confused and didn't really understand any of what was going on. Not in the "I jumped into a game not having played its predecessors" sense but in the "what the fuck is happening what does any of this mean do i really exist" sense.
Persona is a very daunting game to just jump into. I felt lost in Persona 3 for a while honestly since you're given the decision what to really do, and you don't know if you're spending that time correctly or efficiently.

Because you're taking mechanics that are better suited for combat with many different people instead of just focused on one player, which could have made it be way more interesting. And the worst part about FF 14 (idk about 11, never played it), is the boring end game content where it gets repetitive very fast. People are what make it tolerable.

And HOW FUCKING DARE YOU, FFXII is literally perfect. It is the bar EVERY game should be set to reach. Pure video game kino.
I like Chie more, but overall I found the girls in Persona 4 to be lacking when compared to 3 and 5. And nah, FF 12 had a meh story, a meh character cast minus Gideon Emery and his bunny companion, and was literally Star Wars. The combat was also a shallow MMO version.

Dark Souls is also insanely western, which is probably why you like it. Just because it has a hint or two of Japanese themes doesn't take away that it's medieval western things (especially since it takes way too much inspiration from Berserk which is also, surprise, insanely western). Let's break it down though.
Animations don't get old on the turn based combat because nothing is drawn out. And to be honest, the turn based combat is a thing I'm glad sticks around when RPG's are increasingly trying to go for real time action adventure type shit. It's what's destroying Final Fantasy if you ask me. That plus the awesome music Persona always has, this time going for an Acid Jazz vibe which is fantastic.
The menu's are beautiful in art style that fits the tone of the game rather than just a boring menu, but if you don't like that, fair enough
The highschool drama plays in relation to you doing what you do in the game. It's not people talking about who's boyfriend is fucking who
I wouldn't say the game is hyper sexualized. All I can think of is some of the Persona's, but that doesn't surprise me in a rated M game where almost all rated M games have sexual themes. The characters themselves though aren't tripping over shit and showing pantie shots. Dark Souls is guilty of some of this same stuff with women who's tits are only covered with their hair
As for the animation, well yeah of course it has to go for something, but none of the characters are really tropey at all (also, the only broody edgy protagonist is from Persona 3. This guy isn't). Maybe design wise with some of them, but they actually have depth and personality and aren't subject to the lowest common denominator. So you're assuming quite a bit in all categories.
As for the borderline pointless stuff, it's blending in normal life with the shadow world life and such, which was always the appeal of Persona. You don't have to like that though, but it's not really pointless. The game would be stupid if it was just nothing but the combat.
Not everything from Japan is going to be as basic as your yearly summer anime release.
Overall, it seems you're not a fan of a lot of it, but it's not really pointless for what the game sets out to do, or the tone. But I see where you're coming from. Some people just aren't fans of settings or certain tendencies such things take. I can think of a few for myself. Fair enough. I just felt I'd explain a bit more for some clarification.

What do you mean? They didn't include the French and Russians, but they're focusing heavily on them with the two DLC packs. They focused on the British, Italian, and Arab forces in WW1, which I'd say is decent. I wish they would have included the Entente, but yeah. As for America, they only gave em one mission and 2 maps. I wish they'd have focused on France, but yeah.

Yeah, I get what you mean. CoD from 4/WaW to what we have now, while still sticking to the core, has increased in speed even further. It used to feel like a war skirmish and now it feels like paintball shooting. Idk why. Probably a variety of reasons from gun sounds, to things like killstreaks.

That's what you get when you release games yearly. Assassins Creed suffered the same thing until they were smart enough to realize it was going to shit on the same yearly release trend. CoD could easily do with a two year cycle rather than the sports yearly one. I'd allow more things to actually happen in game, and people wouldn't feel it's a sports game kinda thing. A year is very short in the gaming world.

Funny because BF1 plays exactly like all the modern setting BFs
It's full of prototype weapons that performs exactly like modern assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, shotguns, and snipers
It still maintains the core gameplay, but it took away a lot of the things that made people annoyed with the modern things, such as heat seeking missiles and auto lock on. It made things more analog (if that's the right word) to where you actually had to aim your shots and be accurate, like the older shooters used to have, rather than just point and shoot. It also made it so machine guns didn't just dominate and bolt action/semi-auto are actually just as viable as other weapons.

That is apparently a Persona in P5? Idk. It's like Pokemon in that there are hundreds of Persona's. Or maybe like around 200. Taking one example doesn't really mean much.

Maybe if you're looking to hate it. I don't feel one monster ruins the entire perception of the game or series. That's some stupid logic. Is it stupid? Yeah, but that doesn't suddenly mean the previous games, or literally everything else in Persona 5 is bad or typical anime stuff. If it was in a cutscene or a pretty big focal point, yeah, you'd be able to make a case easily. I mean, I can think of 3 overly sexual pokemon right now. One of which is a female version of what you just linked me. Doesn't mean the game or series is suddenly ruined.
