I played Morrowind after I played Oblivion and Skyrim. Once you look past the outdated combat mechanics and UI, it's an incredibly immersive game with an incredibly fleshed out world. Oblivion and Skyrim ain't got shit on Morrowind.
I can understand that, but it still factors into gameplay, and it is always in your face. Therefor I think it holds it back. That'd be like saying DA2 is good once you look past all the recycled dungeons.

The moment Skyrim removed a few skill tree's from Oblivion, that was the red flag.
Don't forget about them removing races being different from eachother like Nords being stronger than Elves. When people say Skyrim is babies first RPG they are not far from the truth. That game is a joke when it comes to depth.

yeah, the races are essentially all the exact same aside from the racial actives/passives (nord resistance to cold/argonian water breathing etc)
right right it's been so long since I've played, but I remember now. heck, you don't even need the argonian thing because there are barely any real places to swim underwater.
