People with mood disorders can't join up so why should transgender people be allowed to when they have a mental disorder or illness as well? I know transgenders aren't bipolar but they still have a mental disorder.
Because it has no affect on the ability to function properly as a person.
It doesn't matter, it's still a mental illness which can cause problems as well. The military already has a high suicide rate for normal people. So combat or whatever driving somebody close to the edge would be even worse for someone who thinks they were born in the wrong body. I'm somewhat going to repeat myself, but transgenders have a high suicidal percentage, so combat is not going to help out their state of mind when they're being depressed about being born in the wrong body.
Trans people don't necessarily have to be in combat positions.
Also let's take note that just because a demographic has increased rates of depression, does not mean that it stacks additively in combat. Gays have higher tendencies toward depression, that doesn't necessarily mean they are combat ineffective. I can solidly say I wouldn't be giving a rat's ass about dysphoria while people are shooting at me.
If a candidate has a history of depression, go ahead and reject them. If they've been clean for a long time, you're jumping at statistics and not assessing a candidate's record.

It's only a good thing that this really is none of your concern then. Anything I want to talk about is my concern buddy. This was not a decision taken lightly. It was extensively talked about and researched. We weighed the pros and cons and looked at things like finances, aspirations, family situation, education and so on before making a decision. Despite you repeatedly insisting on how much I hate the country, I visited the US several times a year for often months at a time and was genuinely and fully open to the idea of actually moving and living there because, really, I quite enjoyed what I saw of it. She clearly dislikes America enough to consider Belgium a better place to live in. Like you said, it was extensively talked about and when it came down to it, Belgium was the choice. But really, I'm not trying to talk about your personal lives and all the details. My point here is it's a very stupid thing to say, what she said. "I'm ashamed to be American". Really? So you're only happy to be American when certain things are going on? As I've tried to explain numerous times at this point, I'm just an openly critical person on here. And since 95% of everything Serious here relates to the US and my own country virtually never comes up on account of me being our only member there, this makes me seem disproportionally critical of the US when I am equally (if not more so because it actually affects me) sceptical of my own government. How is that a valid excuse? Iran literally never comes up here, but I've made several threads and just a few days ago (or yesterday I can't really remember) I made a thread about the situation in Bahrain which is now clearly another territory involved in the shadow war between Iran and Saudi Arabia. My criticism of the EU and some of its legislation is being published soon in an international and peer reviewed academic journal, The EU isn't a country. and another recent article discussing the shortcomings of Belgian police information management is pending approval. It just doesn't come up because no one here cares. Really? I care a lot. So does Meta and several other people here. If anything the subjects here have gotten stale, and I'd very much welcome new things to discuss. You can think whatever you want, but I think that judging someone's choice and dismissing it as dumb while not even knowing half the story or reasons that went into the decision is a lot dumber than someone just moving to a different country when they still can move back at a moment's notice.
Look, I'm not trying to tear you guys down. I just think it's a very disgusting thing to say for anybody of any country. Nobody should be ashamed to be something. It's a shameful day, but to be ashamed of being American? No, that's wrong, and it pisses me off.

Not military but as a trans person everything seems perfectly fair.
At first I didn't like the idea of removing the different identifications on paperwork, because generally I'm tired of paperwork that only asks for sex, but I think what that was intended to do was help reduce discrimination, or at least perceived discrimination when the identification markers can clearly identify someone as trans.
Transgenderism is considered a medical condition/disorder, and is synonymous with gender dysphoria
"Transgenderism" is kind of a shit term. There's no real consensus on what it precisely means. Maybe I've just heard too many retards try to imply there is a school of thought tied to the idea of believing people can be transgender, but honestly the word is like saying "gayism".
I'm not sure what the definition entails, sometimes when you define something as a condition people use it as means to remove the patient's agency or credibility. Otherwise I suppose it's fine to consider being transgender a medical condition.
It seems very bizarre for a FtM to be held to male fitness standards when they possess, ostensibly, no male traits
You realize transmen take testosterone correct? I don't know the timeline, but probably a year after starting T, I'd imagine they'd at least be at the base line of males for a long of things.
Kind of brings up why men and women have different standards to begin with, but that's a different subject.
