i am torturing myself with subs though A good portion of those shows have better dubs than subs though.
indeed--i would say 100% of them have better dubs
because japanese people are genetically incapable of doing good voice acting, period
but i'm in it for the authenticity, because
1. dubs often contain gratuitous censorship which is bad
2. there are certain puns that only work in japanese that i'd miss out on
You know you have a point, Japanese people come off as autistic in their voice acting. I don't know if it's because I don't understand the language at all and how words should sound and all that shit, but the majority of the time it's just weird.
For example in Ninja Gaiden 2 here
I've played through this game a million times in both English and Japanese, and the English voice acting is just better. The "I don't care" in this scene is so much more badass compared to Japanese where the same line is muttered.
I'd say it's 50/50 on that
You have some great voice actors in grorious nippon, that sound anything but autistic. Then you have plenty of stammering kawaii sugoi fodder as well.
Knowing the language does help it sound less homogeneous though, it's one of those developed listening things you get with any language really. I'm sure turkish would sound a lot less burping and vomiting if I knew how to speak it.
Nah Turkish is just a nasty language. Sometimes it sounds half decent because of the influence Farsi had on it. I have seen some movies where the original Japanese voice acting is better than dub but it's rare. Then again I haven't seen that much that is Japanese.

You guys need to learn that Islam has as many factions as Christianity. Wahabists aren't representative of Islam any more than Catholics are in Christianity. If there was a button that killed all wahabists, it should be pushed.
Wahabists want to cause a war between "The West" and Islam. They want all Westerners to turn on Muslims. Without them you find a bunch of people who really do just want to live their lives.
This is true to a certain extent but you'll find even most Muslims from non Middle East countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia etc hate the west too.
