Create something and declare it to be art. It is now art. That's not what I said at all Which one is it Slurbatim?
Both, because they don't contradict each other at all.
No car manufacturer would say that car manufacturing is an art form, and if they would, they're bullshitting.
They absolutely contradict each other. Making cars is absolutely art. You sound just like the people who say video games aren't art.

Nope. What I said is that it's possible for cars to be art, but no major car manufacturer produces cars for artistic purposes. They design them because they're a business and that's it.
I'm not saying it's not art because I said so. I'm saying it's not art because it's not art. In that case games aren't art either because developers design games because they're a business and that's it. You see you know you're wrong that's why you're making these weak ass arguments. If I want to make an NES game, I need to work with NES hardware.
Therefore, NES hardware is BETTER for that specific job. Modern hardware is worse.
Except we live in the real world where Nintendo makes games on the Wii U and Switch. Also, you wouldn't make games with NES hardware, you'd make it on a computer and adapt it to play on a NES. Either way you'd be using improved modern technology.

Again, not what I said. I'm not gonna have an actual conversation with somebody who twists my words as badly as you do. It's exactly what you said. You're the one playing word games by refusing to use the word better because you backed yourself into a corner and you realize that oh shit, there is such a thing as better and lesser hardware. Nope, not always.
Really? How so?

That's not what I said at all, good job!
That's not even what I said earlier. You misread two posts.
You misread ALL of my posts, but you butchered those last two pretty brutally. >anything can be art >except cars fuck the people who design exotic looking cars there's no art involved there at all Hmm It can be, but not always.
It literally always is. A GTX 1070 is better than a 970.

That pretty much rules out the motor industry.
You might find some yuppie faggot in the industry who thinks that automobiles are a form of art, but he's just a posturing yuppie dumbass. He doesn't genuinely believe that. "anything can be art except for these things that I tell you are not art" If that's what you prefer.
I can think of several artistic purposes for weaker graphics.
I can think of how better hardware is better than older outdated inferior hardware

Art is whatever an artist says it is. Create something and declare it to be art. It is now art.
That's the bare minimum requirement. No one has to like your art for it to be art. It's merely an expression of yourself. Exactly Stronger doesn't mean better. Stronger means stronger.
If "stronger" is what you're looking for, then sure, it's better. For you. Not for everyone. For you.
For most people--for 99.99% of healthy, sane individuals, you could even say. But still not everybody.
You're a big guy Stronger is better than weaker graphics cards ;^)

Nah. You've thoroughly demonstrated that you don't understand art at all.
And I never said that cars "can't" be considered art. In that very post, I conceded that some cars ARE made for artistic purposes. It's just that the vast, VAST majority of them aren't made for artistic purposes at all and thus cannot be reasonably considered art. Says who? What is art to you? stronger better

I like how your understanding of art apparently doesn't extend beyond "looking nice." I understand art a hell of a lot better than you do if you think cars can't be considered art. You're retarded. Yes, because that's what it is. Underlining the words "higher quality" doesn't mean the same thing as "higher" in a numerical sense (ie. 1070 is higher than 980 or whatever the fuck numbers you used earlier). Do you know why they're higher? When it comes to art, hardware is a matter of bigger and smaller numbers. Not better and worse technologies. 😂😂😂😂 Okay Dustin

Cars aren't art unless you design a car for an artistic purpose.
Few cars are made for artistic purposes. Like, less than 0.0001%.
Most cars are designed for commercial purposes exclusively. That's anti-art. Hahaha what? There's designers part of the design team of the vehicle who are there solely for their artistic value. All cars are made to look nice. Thanks for proving me right? You specifically said the specs or graphics are "higher" not better. Why? Because you don't want to admit I'm right, so you used a synonym. This is extremely childish. Your preferences are all there is. If only. Okay Loaf

Art has EVERYTHING to do with it. It's the entire point of the conversation. Video games are art. Hardware is irrelevant.
Cars and wagons aren't art. Says who? Cars are definitely art. Hahaha, you can't even be consistent on your own bullshit. Thesauruses aren't for finding words with identical meanings. They're for finding synonyms.
Synonyms aren't two words that have the same meaning. They're two words with similar meanings.
That means they're slightly different. You stupid fuck. Never talk about words again. ad·vanced ədˈvanst/ adjective far on or ahead in development or progress. "negotiations are at an advanced stage" synonyms: state-of-the-art, new, modern, developed, cutting-edge, leading-edge, up-to-date, up-to-the-minute, the newest, the latest; More new and not yet generally accepted. "his advanced views made him unpopular" bet·ter1 ˈbedər/ adjective 1. of a more excellent or effective type or quality. "hoping for better weather" synonyms: superior, finer, of higher quality; More 2. partly or fully recovered from illness, injury, or mental stress; less unwell. "she's much better today" synonyms: healthier, fitter, stronger; More If you prefer the Dreamcast version, there is no point in saying that it's inferior. Because to you, it's clearly not. It doesn't matter what I think. My preferences are irrelevant. I know that it isn't, but it doesn't sound like it, so I just think it's a stupid thing to say.
It sounds like you're saying I'm more mentally fit than you. My brain is capable of doing aerobics and shit. What is your brain capable of? Sucking on dog turds?
Wow, the mental dogturd-sucking is pretty strong, hahaha XD
This is retarded.

Yes. But whether certain hardware is "better" than other hardware is completely subjective when it comes to art. Art has nothing to do with it. This is hardware. A car is better than a wagon. The fact that I'm an English scholar gives me the right to draw distinctions between terms like "advanced" and "better."
Because they're different words that are used for different things. "Advanced" in no way shape or form means the same thing as "improved."
Stupid people who aren't good with words will use them interchangeably, but that doesn't make it correct to do so. Open up a thesaurus once in a while. You don't even understand your own opinions, that's pretty funny.
You don't prefer the Dreamcast version if you think something is superior to it. Or maybe you don't think the improved graphics (in your eyes) outweigh other aspects of the original version. Either way, you PREFER the graphics on the GameCube and PC editions. You think the Dreamcast version looks worse. That means you don't prefer it. I prefer the dreamcast version. Like you said yourself, I can prefer something inferior. The character models are different on the GameCube and it just doesn't look as nice. That has nothing to do with knowing the graphics are better on GameCube and PC. Just like Skyrim on PC looks better than on console. "Mental gymnastics" sounds more like a compliment. Thank you.
It isn't, look it up.

How art is subjective and that you're wrong and likely stupid for thinking otherwise and taking this long to understand my point. Hardware isn't subjective. Nope. It's more advanced, but it's not better. Advanced = improved = better Come on English scholar Then that means you prefer the GameCube and PC versions. Nothing wrong with that.
But that doesn't make the Dreamcast version objectively worse. No it means I prefer the Dreamcast like I literally just told you. But the GameCube version and playing it on PC it has better graphics. I don't care that it doesn't care. You can prefer it, but it's not superior. It's just hardware that is capable of different things. Not better things.
Um Wow The mental gymnastics you're pulling here lmao

XDDDD
GOT ME
I don't care. Do you think that's the point? Yes. That's what I'm talking about. What are you talking about? They're relevant to the subject in the sense that everything you're talking about it is a matter of opinion. Whether you like """good""" graphics that utilize state-of-the-art technology is up to you, but it's possible to dislike it and favor dated graphics instead. A GTX 1070 is better than a GTX 970. Fact. This will produce a better looking game. Fact. Cartoony graphics or not, it'll look better on PC. Personally I like how Sonic Adventure looks on the Dreamcast even though it's better on GameCube and PC. Nope, it's not a fact in any way whatsoever, unless you're the kind of person who prefers PC hardware.
Not everybody does.
You can't "prefer" superior hardware. It's just superior, it doesn't care if you prefer it or not.

Because 1080 is a bigger number than 480 you silly bitch. Definition =/= specs No, he won't, because he wants games to look like cartoons. You don't need a GTX 1080 to make that work.
I don't give a shit about anybody's preferences. That's completely irrelevant to the subject. This conversation started about about me stating the fact that PC graphics are superior to console graphics. The hardware on a gaming PC is better than a console. That's a fact. Get over it.

They have higher specs. They don't have "better" specs. Why is it "higher"? The hypothetical guy could easily be somebody who prefers video games to look like cartoons. Maybe they like the old-school rough-around-the-edges aesthetic. It takes them back to their childhood and makes them happier than Nier's graphics do.
You can't take that away from them.
I don't want to? lmao He can prefer whatever he wants, but I'm sure like a sane individual he realizes a GTX 1080 will produce a better looking game than whatever is on a PS4 or Xbox.

If we're talking about the progression of technology and what it allows, then yes it is better from that perspective.
If you want to stagnate, and not advance, then sure, it doesn't? But you're always arguing that progression is the key to a lot of things in life and that stagnation is a cancer. Something I completely agree with.
Art is the exception to that rule. An artist can choose to stagnate--or even regress--if that's what he wants to do.
Likewise, a consumer has every right to appreciate art in any way that he wants. He's allowed to think that Super Mario 64 has the best graphics ever and that Nier: Automata looks ugly as in. That's his right.
Is this hypothetical guy blind? This has nothing to do with art. I'm talking about hardware and software. A gaming PC has better specs than a console, thus games look better.

Not everybody likes vibrant colors and not everybody cares about frame rate.
I like low frame rates because I like how it pisses people off that I like low frame rates. lmao you're foolish It doesn't matter. It's a possibility. No it isn't. It's not even a plausibility. Everybody likes colors. Sometimes I like when games look ugly and muddy because it creates a particular atmosphere that I wouldn't get if the colors were nicer. That's the art style of the game. That can still be achieved with 4k graphics. Yes. CAN enjoy. Not WILL enjoy. Everybody enjoys colors. I'm sure there are some exceptions to the rule due to some defect or disease.

I'm saying that PC graphics tend to be more realistic.
That doesn't mean they're better. That's nonsense. A game's art style doesn't suddenly change because it's on PC. The colors are more vibrant and fram rate nakqjwbqlnsbw how many times do I need to repeat this. It's fucking better. I never said I didn't. I said that somebody may not.
Who the hell dislikes nice colors? So what if somebody's a bat? That's not an argument. Ok Stefan Because you're not a bat. You're a human being. Seeing nice colors is something we can enjoy as a species.
6689
« on: April 26, 2017, 09:40:58 PM »
No, I said that they're more realistic. That says absolutely nothing of their quality, and it certainly doesn't mean their "better." How are the graphics more realistic? Maybe somebody doesn't fucking like that. It's not that complicated.
You don't like nice colors? What are you, a bat?

There are good and bad graphics. Graphics we consider bad now were good at one point. However, if a developer charges me $60 for a game and I get 90's graphics, I'm gonna have a problem with that. Yeah, that's you. And a lot of other people, sure, but that's still you.
Better specs allow you to play the game with a higher definition. And?
If you asked me if I'd rather play the original release of a game or its HD remake, I'd pick the original every single time.
Put Skyrim on a console and on a PC on ultra settings. Tell me which one looks better.
Definitely Skyrim on console.
You're objectively wrong because it objectively looks better on PC. You're an idiot to think an inferior machine is superior because you want it to be.
This is the kind of behavior that got me so disliked for so many years: pretending my opinions are facts. Something I never do, but I still get accused of it to this day.
Yet here you are, literally claiming that your opinion is a fact for no reason.
It doesn't look objectively better. It just looks better to you. I like Skyrim's graphics on console because it looks more like a video game to me. Realistic graphics don't impress me at all, and if anything, I want to avoid reality when it comes to games anyway.
I'm not gonna pretend as though MY opinion is the objective truth, so I don't understand why someone would be so autistic as to pretend their opinion is the truth.
So you admit the graphics are a higher quality on PC. Instead of being semantic you could've just said this in the beginning. For a game like Nier though, I don't understand why you'd get it on console when it looks so much better on PC. It doesn't look more realistic, it just has better color, frame rate, and just looks smoother overall. I'm not knocking consoles, but let's be realistic here.
