Serious / Re: Musings Thread
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:30:18 AM »
I was doing some thinking the other day. Evolution is a constant thing, and if you were to take a Human being from today, stuff him or her into a time machine, and say, jump them ahead 40-50 thousand years or so, taking into account we're still around by then, the species that we know as Humans he or she will meet will be completely alien, in appearance, and possibly intelligence.

So, down to the brass tacks of things, I was thinking, let's assume that we are around for another 40-50 thousand years, hell, even longer than that, and we maintain a presence on Earth. Let's say, that our divergent relatives in our family tree, other primates, are also around all the way up until this time. Could the potential exist to see a second sapient species rise on our world through natural evolution?

And in that regard, would we ourselves be evolved enough not abuse them?
Most likely. We'd probably help more advanced apes out, seeing how we do already. Poaching and such wouldn't be as much of a problem or wouldn't be a problem at all if we've figured out how to co-exist for another 50 thousand years.

The Flood / Re: Guard Horses
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:27:04 AM »
But a herbivore might not have the same lust for food as a carnivore... you can't just keep them hungry to be vicious since they don't eat other creatures. They'd have to be well-fed to operate and if that's the case- if their guardianship is based on loyalty instead of viciousness- could they be bribed?
It doesn't really matter since a horse wouldn't be able to stop you in the first place, even if you're unarmed. And a well trained guard dog only eats from his handler and nobody else, so you'd have a difficult time bribing a well trained guard dog in the first place. And if it's just one of those really vicious dogs that's been brought up badly and starved, you still don't have much of a window to infiltrate a house/compund because they eat FAST and then they'll be right on your ass. Unless you put tranquilizers in the meat.

I've been mainly on bnet, but I decided to start being more active here as well, since a lot of people are only here.
Cool.

Well you see, the Islamic extremists are trained (albeit often poorly) militants (when they aren't just handing twelve year old girls backpacks full of explosives, that is) and most of your civil population are unarmed, lack any military knowledge, and are in complete fear of these organizations. You see now why there's no massive civil resistance, right?
That's not true. Almost everybody has an AK in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya and so on. Even the Kurds are armed.

While they may not have training, they could be trained by the country's military/US and they could launch an effective campaign against the terrorists with coalition forces.

Alright Congress, this is a blatant display of hostility, aggression, and the will to kill US civilians. Boots on the fucking ground WHEN?
Why should Americans continue to spill their blood when the Muslim community doesn't stand up and say "enough is enough"?

It's their duty to fight evil wherever they find it even though they may not want to, "for God knows, and you do not". Yet there are no anti terror groups. The blatant hypocrisy is such that I honestly couldn't care less if the Kurds weren't being massacred.

Pretty much.

When I was getting non-stop impersonated sometime last November, I eventually couldn't take it anymore and went to Recon to ban those motherfuckers since impersonation was clearly a violation of the CoC. He told me he wasn't "obliged" to do anything about it and that I should just deal with it.
LOL Wow.

This actually isn't funny. People who have severe aracnophobia can go into a mental shock after seeing that many spider images.

Just saying. Don't start hopping on my dick like you all usually do.

The Flood / Re: Do you think you'd make for a good moderator?

Because I wouldn't hesitate to use my power If someone was breaking the rules. I wouldn't just flat-out ban users for small offenses, but I would still be a strict moderator.

I also wouldn't just sit around with my thumb up my ass when someone committed a serious offense like what those useless idiots on Bungie.broken would normally do.
What was the deal with taking the mods on b.net 2 hours minimum to ban and delete Account Number's threads? It's like they don't care anymore.
