I was hit twice in my life by my parents. They always explained why I shouldn't do something calmly although my father was very stern when I did something that was actually wrong. Otherwise my dad was like a friend and my mom was great.
I agree, but at the same time if you explain something time and time again and the behavior does not cease, a slap is in order. Why? Because the kid is blatantly disrespecting you and getting away with it, and doing something bad to boot. But only in the most extreme occasions. A time out works far better in most instances and allows the situation to simmer down so a calm discussion can be had.
The thing is, if your parents don't normally hit you and take the mature approach the majority of the time, when they DO give you a light hit you're like "oh shit I really crossed the line". This is why I stress it shouldn't be a common thing. Otherwise it ends up becoming abusive and the kid doesn't learn anything.

The guy has spent years preaching about freedom of speech and how 4chan is a safe place for it. His latest actions are in violation of all of that. It's hypocritical. He suggested that I report Otthild to the authorities for posting my image, because "even though we've had issues in the past," he still thought to suggest to me that because he thought it was out of line. Which it was.
Though, what Otthild did wasn't technically illegal, because I posted the images in a place with people I thought I could trust, but I was wrong, and I take accountability for that. I did threaten to have Otthild arrested, though. Just to scare her. And I think it worked. But that's another story.
Point is, DTL respects me enough to interact with me and I respect him enough to take his advice if I see fit.
I don't really care about your whole story and it's completely irrelevant. All I said was to stop blaming people for things you did, and to learn from your mistakes so you can grow as a person.
