Common core is making children dumber.
And yet Kentucky showed an increase in high school graduation from 80pc to 86pc over the course of three years.

Y'know, for people willing to (rightly) attack the one-size-fits-all approach, you really are all too willing to use a one-size-fits-all criticism.
the reason graduation is going up is because of these lowered standards, built by idiots for idiots, so that smart people who WANT to learn and succeed can be held back. you don't seem to understand the concept so let me spell it out for you.

Common core lowers standards and allows dumber people to pass on instead of fracking learning the shit they need to learn for the real world. those 6% that are now passing are passing because of lowered standards, and allowing dumbasses who don't know the material to just go on through.

I can read. I can't however find the TIME article this is from and thus can't see the citations it used
Well either it's a doctored image or you're just having trouble finding a year old article on this when it's a very popular subject with many articles written about it.

I'm going with the latter due to the fact that people wouldn't go to such lengths.

The fact that BMW has to create specialized degrees so that people can fracking ASSEMBLE CARS is proof enough.
Well, mechanical inclination isn't something your average high schooler is gonna pick up in class unless he attends a vocational school.
Woah woah woah, get the hell out of here with your logic. We don't need that shit in this thread.

it's proof that standards are being lowered, you dense punt.
First of all, I can punt pretty well and we're not discussing football though I wish we were.

Secondly, that proves nothing. I could link an article about McDonald's restaurants closing down and say it's because there a lot of people on welfare, but it wouldn't be true at all.

I want a grey wolf but that is i believe illegal. So maybe a dog or cat will do.
There are cats you can get that are dog sized.
Dunno what they're called though.
Hmm, not sure maybe a leopard might do.

Though reason i want a wolf, is not as a pet but as a companion. Personally would love to volunteer in some conservation groups to help manage and watch over them. The species fascinates me.
Well there is a species of wolf dog, but they're not legal everywhere.

Then there are German Shepherds and a few other breeds you might be interested in. Wolves are fiercely territorial though, so unless you live in a rural area with little to no visitors, a wolf WILL attack trespassers and kill them if he can. My German Shepherd grew up in a rural area and he's extremely territorial, a wolf is even more so.

Suddenly crack seems like a fun way to pass the time.

What type of maniac thought this up? You can literally go crazy doing this, especially if you expect something to happen and create an atmosphere of tension. Imagine if you were lost in the dark with low light and you saw a mirror, you'd think of the numerous uses for survival. Going in expecting something will just make things worse.

There's no monster inside of us. Don't be afraid of yourself, that's the worst thing you can do.

Of course I don't believe it. That's why I wrote "these people believe free speech means they can say what they like without backlash" as if it were some sort of diplomatic immunity.

I understand what you're trying to say, but these people will only escalate things even further if we ignore them. Because it's not like they do it for us, they do the same shit every thread themselves.

Either punishments get harsher because of a few people, or we try to talk some sense into them.
But they aren't going to listen to sense. They have no reason to. Nothing can be done to them unless  a mod does something, and then that is when punishments are harsher. People get mad and leave, "Hur dur the site is not what is used to be," and shit like that.
Well, telling people to get their acts together isn't detrimental to the site. If the majority of us tell the minority causing problems to act right, they'll start to rethink how they act here at least.
I'm sorry, but it won't. It'd be nice if it would, but they will just continue, and it will get worse the more people bring it up. Look at Dustin.
In that case the mods will get more serious. At least we tried reasoning with them.

Hey Nexus, just because someone makes a thread telling people to grow up and stop fighting and gets a lot likes as a result of it doesn't mean he's fishing for likes or being an attention whore.

I don't know who you were on b.net or if you're even from there, but Nasty is the farthest thing from an attention whore. He just cares about the community and doesn't want to see it go down due to people being childish.

It's funny you say he's unimportant and his post does nothing but contribute to the drama, while at the same asking us to listen to you instead while trying to engage OP in an argument. I tip my hat to you sir.

Ignoring this won't make it go away. There are a select few people who take things way too seriously and personally, and there is another group which believes free speech means you can say what you like without backlash. These people keep bumping heads and ignoring them or laughing at them doesn't solve anything. If anything, we need to engage them in discussion and try to get these people to get along.
Wait, you actually fracking believe the scapegoat free argument? It's nothing. It's bullshit that people hide behind so they can try and say what they want. They don't care about free speech, they care about being assholes. And, I guess I might have jumped the gun on the attention whoring argument, but it is still a valid complaint. And I was never on Bnet so....

The Flood / Re: Anarchy and Adsense

This is a tricky situation indeed.

I don't think creating a watered down permanent Anarchy is a solution, however. Not only would it be a mess, we'd lose a lot of ad revenue because people would be in that board screwing around without supporting the site.

Damn damn damn. Would you accept donations? How much does this place cost per month?
$20 to $30, I'd say, taking into account time spent maintaining it and money for paid modifications.

I don't want to jump straight to donations, but I'll let you know if we go that route. Hopefully we can support this site with ads (if we can find a good agency).
30 is nothing. If we all donated like 50 cents everything would be gravy.

Cool.
