It is torture. Being locked in a dark room for the majority of the day for 20 years in complete solitude? That's torture. People start to get damaged mentally in a few days. Years of that causes insanity.
Years? No modern or civilized prison imposes solitary confinement that long. I thought we were talking about the practice as it's usually used.

Then refrain from posting until you watch the video or ask for more information. I posted a video, it's not my duty to give you the transcript because you "don't watch videos on this site".
Either way, you should at least know people have been put into solitary for years before you even discuss it. If you're not knowledgable about something, don't discuss it until you inform yourself.

My mindset is one that 20 years without having to talk to anyone is peaceful, and good. I'm more or less asocial, so I have a different perspective. Plus, I don't really read/ know much about this subject so I don't feel qualified to give much more than waht I already said.
Well let me explain to you why you're wrong. Firstly, you're in jail. There's nothing to do in solitary confinement. Secondly, that much isolation causes the majority of people to go insane. And thirdly, anything beyond a few days already starts to have major psychological effects so years of it is indeed torture.
