Yeah yeah ISIS is the embodiment of evil and all that jazz, but let's not get caught in the hype. This happens every single day in Africa, Mexico, South America, China. Yet we only seem to care when it's near oil.
There's a video of some gay guy in Uganda getting beat up and then set on fire. Yet that isn't as popular as this guy.
Want to know why? It's not in our "best interests" to care. There's nothing really valuable in Africa we don't already control or stripped Africa of a long time ago.

And when I say "we" I mean the West. Not you and me.

Odd considering the African continent has arguebly the largest untapped mineral and energy reserves in the world. Just look at Nigeria and South Africa who are more recently benefitting from it.

Serious / Re: God is logically impossible
« on: February 03, 2015, 05:45:14 PM »
I agree with your general idea of omnipotence: it's the unlimited power to enact change within the limits of the laws of logic and physics.
Then we needn't use the rocks; it still runs into the same problem which, generally, is Russell's Paradox. You need only list of all the logically possible actions to find that such a list would also be inconsistent. It is logically possible to both truthfully state your name is Yahweh and truthfully state your name is not Yahweh, and yet doing one clearly negates a capacity to do the other.

But it's not truthful for a single being to state it is two separate things (let's set aside the ensuing Trinity discussion). Omnipotence isn't the ability to do all things, and if it is, then God is not omnipotent by that definition. You don't see this definition of omnipotence used anywhere except in this paradox. There are many things God can't do, according to the source material.

It's a shame Turkey and Gojira are religious. They're such smart dudes.
This thread actually has very little to do with religion.
But you are religious and believe in god. And this thread is about god, which you as a religious person, are defending.

People can get really hurt in snowball fights. They can turn ugly pretty quickly - using rocks, ice, etc, can really injure someone especially if they catch it in the face or head.
Confirmed teacher at OP's school.
I'm just saying that I understand the response to the snowball fight.

Are snowball fights fun? Fuck yeah.
Are snowball fights dangerous and a liability to the school? Yes.

Not really, you're just wrong.
Would you care to actually substantiate your argument with evidence? When I have stated you were wrong, I provided rather concrete evidence to support my argument. If you want to have a "Yes! No!" argument, find someone else.

It does, that's why it was so popular.
Except that now you're repeating yourself. Halo 2 was popular even when it was severely broken and unbalanced for close to 6 months. I think that is enough evidence to refute that the competitiveness is what made it popular. Of course, once tournaments began to be held, that attracted more attention. You can really do that with any game though.

Look at Smite, the recently had a HUGE ass tournament that raked in a ton of money and attention for the game and devs, despite the fact it's arguably inferior to LoL. Call of Duty has done this before as well despite the fact it's not even that competitive.

Quote
The Rubik's Cube is a ton of fun and challenging/competitive. Just like Halo.
I would argue against how fun a Rubix cube actually is if you don't know how to solve it. As for the challenging aspect, sure but the competitiveness wasn't built into the Rubix cube. It's a construct of its fans and buyers.

Quote
The Halo trilogy has the best and most competitive gameplay. End of story m'lord.
Saying something doesn't just make it true. Show me why it's true.
If you're the type of person who doesn't consider the Halo trilogy the best, you're a lost cause to begin with. Anybody who's actually good at Halo would agree.

No, you can't. Not consistently have a huge competitive crowd of players for 2 games straight. That's really something you only see on PC gaming.

It's inherently competitive. And because it's fair and fun, that's why the Rubik's has such a huge following.

It is true. There's really nithing else to say other than the gameplay is the most balanced and fun. All the aspects that make Halo multiplayer great are absent in games not part of the trilogy.
I told you to come back with evidence if you're going to tell me I am wrong.

Go find someone else to spew rubbish at.
LOL
