Then maybe it's too early to announce the game? There's a good video on that subject actually, how games are announced too early and how it actually can make a game worse. I'll see if I can find it.
There are exemptions to what can typically be a shady practice.
Yeah of course, I'm not offended by TES or Nioh CGI trailers, they just didn't do anything for me.
I don't see how, confirmation that a sequel is being made always builds huge excitement for it.

Well it's not just about gameplay. The trailer itself was the most captivating thing I've seen from this E3, easily. As long as you have a unique trailer and not some schlocky seen-it-before nonsense I'm game. I've never played Resident Evil but their trailer was super interesting, too. The Japs just know what they're doing.
Nioh is made by Japanese people😏

I don't think of it that way. E3 is something they might not have anything ready for it but they want to let people know they're making the game. It's a good way to build excitement.
If a CGI announcement trailer is all they have at the time, that'll do, imo. Better than just a single title on a screen.

Sure, but CGI trailers are my least favourite way to do that. I'd rather the developers come on-stage and get excited about announcing it. CGI trailers are usually just misleading and a waste of money.
But that's what I'm saying it's so early in development they probably don't want to do that. I mean look at that Ghost of whatever game we saw like 10 mins of gameplay and it was trash. Any announcement is good enough just to know the game is gonna come out. I didn't really see anything misleading but I get your point, because the CGI trailers for that samurai game made it look cool but it turned out being lame. But, they didn't really show much apart from a samurai and yokai then the title of the game. There are exemptions to what can typically be a shady practice.

Bethesda even if you didn't like ANY of the games had a great presentation apart from the Rage 2 shit.
I judge these conferences on two things: format and the games they show. Bethesda had a garbage format and I didn't care for anything they showed besides Doom 2, which again was just a cinematic trailer.
I think it's cool that there's a Nioh 2 coming but I don't really care for CGI trailers when a simple announcement would have been just as hype.
