The Empire is there long after the events of the original trilogy. They destroyed a space station and super weapon, and both leaders, Palpatine and Vader, were killed. They still control many worlds and have huge fleets across the galaxy. They are no longer as large or as efficient, and their reach has dwindled after their loss.

Even though your unwilling to watch them, shows like The Clone Wars and Rebels bring many things back into canon that were in the EU. In fact, every episode of Rebels so far as brought at least 1 thing from the EU back to being canon.
It is not "bringing it back to canon". The EU is already canon, Disney can suck a massive dick, Rebels and '08 TCW are not canon, the EU is canon.

Great - the creator and owners of the franchise say otherwise. You're welcome to believe your thirty years of establish canon is still valid, but in the eyes of future stories, movies, and novels, it is not.
Those future stories do not matter unless they follow what is already canon.

Nope, Halo EU is all non-canon according to your butthurt logic. Just like 343, Bugie, nor Microsoft can say fuck all of the EU, Lucas nor Disney can do that either. You cannot erase thirty years of Star Wars lore, it is canon.
