I always loved the Empire. The original trilogy tried to show it as some evil overreaching force. They protected worlds, had a functional galactic government, and stimulated the economy as you stated. It gave people careers, because in the Star Wars universe there are still trillions of people of varying species who need to have currency in order to live their lives.

It's not canon, deal with it, the EU have there own version of what happens, they could put in some of the EU into the movie, remember Halo 3 and the flood level, there were some hints on the fall of reach book, thats because they put some of the EU in Halo 3, that doesn't mean that the EU is not connected to the Universes of Halo, same with Star Wars, jesus are you that stupid?
It sucks that the Halo books are not canon, does it not?

Star Wars EU isn't canon because it's been declared non-canon. Since Halo's EU isn't under such a declaration, it doesn't carry over.
But Star Wars EU is canon. Disney cannot delcare all of Star Wars EU to be non-canon. There are obviously quite a few things that are not because the universe is so expansive. But this all comes down to the fact that Disney can suck a dick and what they say does not matter.

It does not matter what the said. They do not give a shit about Star Wars lore, they only care about money. They cannot erase everything that is canon, that is nonsensical to even acknowledge them attempting to do so. They lost all legitimacy with the series with that act, and in doing so, made all future movies, '08 TCW, and Star Wars Rebels all non-canon.

It's not up to the audience to decide what is canon and what isn't. If that were the case I'd consider the Metroid Prime series canon.
Of course it is not, but Disney cannot erase thirty years of established canon.
They didn't, it's still there and put into a "Legends" category. They can use anything from it any time they want.
TCW, Rebels, and future movies go into that "Legends" category, because it is an alternate timeline, because it would contradict the EU stuff. Just like how the new Star Trek movies are on a separate timeline.
