You get a lot less for it, and it's honestly not worth me unblocking them just for this site when I can't stand them. Honestly, I'd much rather host the entire site myself. Then nobody would have to see ads.
Ours is CPM, which is cost per thousand views. Clicks help, but the money is mostly from views. I don't and won't force you to enable ads, but they do keep the site from sinking.
I'm browsing on my phone anyway, which doesn't block them. But I refuse to turn off my adblock on my pc out of principle. I can always pay your host or host it myself if my very tiny amount of browsing here actually monumentally affects you.
You're right in saying one person will have little to no impact. It only becomes an issue when there's a collective. And the problem with the collective is that they all think the same way as you. Plus if everyone followed your principle there wouldn't be any money to keep this place afloat. Disabling adblock is the absolute minimum you can do to show support for a service you use as a consumer.
