I did it. Its over. This Xbox is going to last a little longer now because of it. No fucking problems, still works. The date went off, it set itself to 12/10/15 at midnight. Corrected it today's date. Guess I'll have to keep doing that from now on but I don't care. I fucking saved this thing from death.

If you buy another OG Xbox, Ask the seller to see if he removed the clock capacitor. Or better yet, buy a 1.6 model to avoid that shit all together. 9134

Gaming / Re: Original Xbox Owners....« on: December 11, 2015, 05:15:50 PM »My original Xbox is a tank. It still works like a champ, although I have to hit the top of it sometimes to open the disc tray. The original Xbox itself is a tank. But even the best of the best can get murdered by that little bastard called the clock capacitor, which is designed to remember the system time without having to enter it again after turning it on, but if yours is softmodded like mine, you don't even need the fucking thing and it's a hazard on older Xboxes like mine to begin with. With help from my brother-in-law later today I'm doing to desoder the bastard off of it, saving my console from being wrecked. 9143

Okay. I already opened mine up. I just need to remove the DVD and HDD off of it. The HDD is such a pain in the ass to unplug.

Gaming / Original Xbox Owners....« on: December 11, 2015, 05:33:08 AM »YouTube If there are any on Sep7 besides me. If your Xbox is old as mine, you're most likely going to want to do this. The first time I saw this video, I thought it was for consoles with a 1.6 motherboard only, but no. Its actually for anyone with an older model. In my case, mine is one of the first models and its still alive for the time being, but this fucking little bastard can be the very thing to kill my console. I thought about snapping it off, but I think I might ask my brother to desoder it for me instead since he was the last one to fix the power supply on mine since it went loose. I'd rather set the date and time each time I turn it on rather than have a dead Original Xbox. Keep in mind this shit is softmodded and I've had this console since childhood. Sentimental value may not mean a lot to you guys, but it sure does mean a lot to me. Granted I could just buy another one if this one dies, but I would prefer to save this one. I've read that this is recommend to do according to many hardware modders. What do you guys think? Btw, the clock capacitor according to other forums, have said that it has a 100% chance of failing. If this thing cracks or explodes, it will corrode vital parts of the motherboard, and leakage of the acid from the fucking thing will destroy your system. Has anyone done this before? Oh and mine is softmodded. The softmod has a pre-date and time set to 2005, so it won't prompt me on UnleashX, making it a bit less annoying to setup the date and time. 9147

But in all seriousness, I should be able to enjoy video games in general without having some pecker fucker berate you for it, and I'm pretty sure that's how most of these people felt. 9149
