The "credit cards are evil and for stupid people" mentality isn't a good one to keep for long. I mean, I'm pretty much boned if I decide to try and get a newer car on loan for a good while yet.
I'm the kind of person that would rather just pay for an old junker in full rather than make monthly payments on a car. My parents were destroyed financially because of credit, so it's made me extremely weary to even get a credit card. I realize I'll have to at some point, but I'll always be of the mentality that you should never buy things you can't afford with the money you have now.
The way I see it so far, having a credit card is like borrowing money in a sense. If you can't pay back what you couldn't afford, don't borrow the money for it.
