Well it is you own personal emblem, so...not sure how many people would actually want to use it.

Also what Cheat said is right. Put another layer (make it a dark color) underneath your emblem when adjusting the glow. It'll help prevent having the glow cut off around each side.

Funny thing is I did that and it looked alright on my end. Maybe I missed something, or maybe a combination of  a drop show and outer glow would have helped.

I have a lot of experimenting to do if I ever want to make other stuff let alone other orbs for people.

I learn best from trial and error so thanks for the feedback.

You could always expand the canvas out, and then cut it back down by going Image>Trim>Transparent Pixels (if...I'm remembering that correctly... it's been a while)

I'll admit I don't use Photoshop much either, the last one I had before my upgrade to Windows 8.1 was CS6 on Windows 7. I took a class on Adobe Photoshop and had to do a lot of challenging (but fun) work.

That's why I'd say I'm on an intermediate level. Oddly enough I do a pretty good job making signatures for others, or at least I have. Orbs or Emblems aren't my strong suit, but I try.

You're just really annoying.

Turn down the glow or increase your canvas size. The glow clashes with the edges of the image and it is very distracting. Other than that it's cool.

Pro tip: emblems and simple icons are better made in Illustrator.

I know not of the technical details or finer things, but a light up emblem in motion will be nice. Eye catching through the phases.

It's quite challenging though. I don't really have too much of a guide to work with. The images are 200x200 each and I had to set them up accordingly so one doesn't appear too low or too high in classic shell.

By lightup emblem in motion, do you mean in a .gif form? I suppose I can try a inner glow effect combined with the outer glow that exists but I'm not sure if that's how it would work.

Edit: If you're talking about having the middle one pulsate, that would be cool but that would mean I'd have to turn the image into an animated gif, it wouldn't work in a png setting, at least from my knowlege it won't. I have yet to see a start orb do that though.

I spent about an hour in Photoshop trying to get my stupid emblem right for Windows and to make it look a bit more pleasant, because I wasn't happy with the previous versions I made in Pixlir.

So I got Photoshop CC instead and boy there is nothing better than Photoshop in this world. At least for me to make the things look the way I want them too.

I figured after all of the test orbs I made and the countless edits I had to do let alone resize the fracking thing correctly, the only real reward is to share it with others.

If you liked the Helmet emblem from Halo or you liked this emblem I've had in particular, feel free to try out as your start orb for Windows.

This is intended for ClassicShell. It looks great on Windows 8/8.1, I cannot guarantee that it will look great on Windows 7 or Vista or heck even XP.

I do not think this will work with the Start Orb Changer if you have that instead, I believe it would need to be converted to a bmp that's transparent, so try that out and see if it works alone.

For ClassicShell users I recommend making the button size 50-55. I personally have it set at 55 since it looks about right there.

^Now with all of that legal stuff out of the way, enjoy the start orb.
