Either I don't understand the concept, or that thing is confusing.
Greninja is my favorite anyway. you pick your favorites out of the group 20 and click "pick"
idk, i think it's pretty simple lol
you keep going until the favorites start appearing--and the favorites are obviously based on which ones you clicked the most
it's gonna take a long time to narrow down the list, especially if you have a lot of favorites, so only do it if you really want to

right now, i'm at a point where the choices have narrowed down to only 12 options--now back to 24.
i'm repicking from all the ones that i clicked on at least once. you see?
Oh okay, I thought I had to keep scrolling until I found my favorite. I clicked Greninja and it made me keep going and that's when I got confused.
