Is there any statistical correlation between crippling depression and memes?
yes Although this is a seriously understudied phenomenon and I think it's a grave injustice that research money is not spent on investigating the links between numbers of emojis posted at 2am and likelihood of suicide.

Why do disorders like x-phagias exist?
E.g. Trichophagia, Dermatophagia, (the other one where you bite objects like pencils, etc)
From what I understand, it originates as an anxiety disorder along the lines of OCD. The exact way in which it develops isn't entirely clear (or at least I've not come across anything on it's aetiology so far) but it follows a fairly simple pattern in the same vein as obsessive compulsive does. The mechanism of OCD tends to be Intrusive thought -> Obsess over said thought -> act out ritual to negate thought -> relief -> intrusive thought. So 'my hands are dirty' -> I cannot stand it -> wash hands -> relief -> they still feel dirty With dermatophagia it follows a pattern along these lines Observes an imperfection in the skin, say a bit of dead skin or a scab on a finger -> Obsess over the imperfection, it makes you feel quite sick knowing it's there -> bite the skin or scab away to make the flesh smooth again -> inadvertently cause more tissue damage leading to further bites -> relief at it being gone (until it appears imperfect again). The problem with this disorder in particular is that the body's healing process results in dead skin being fairly visible, so the compulsion to bite the skin away is pretty hard to avoid and doing so leads to more and more and it's a pretty endless cycle. At a guess, early childhood stress is a pretty likely cause of most phagic disorders but I would imagine there is a bit of predisposition to OCD (hereditary) mixed into it.

How much evidence is there that psychedelics can be used as a treatment for certain mental illnesses?
There is some tentative evidence for psilocybin being used to treat depression http://www.nhs.uk/news/2016/05May/Pages/Magic-mushroom-ingredient-tested-as-depression-treatment.aspxThe tl;dr was that for most of the participants their depression scores were significantly reduced in the months following the treatment. It was a pretty small study so it's going to be limited in terms of what you can draw from it but it's caused a bit more interest in the psychological research community into psychedelic drugs being used as a treatment for depression. You wouldn't really want to use it for people with anxiety though, I would have thought, given that it tends to bring on symptoms and feelings of anxiety when the person starts to hallucinate. And someone with psychosis being given a hallucinogen is probably a really bad idea. It's early days though, definitely something to watch for the coming years.

Sounds like a fear of older men. You resent your father, and want to kill him so that you can pound your mom 24/7/365.
That'll be three beans please
Actually it's a fear of coca cola derived from the terrible experience of drinking one as a child being projected onto the historical representation of a cokefiend. That'll be three memes please

Today is WMHD which is all about raising awareness and the like, I'd say most of you are aware of mental health at this point so a better understanding of it might be a better thing to shoot for.
So post any and all questions about mental health issues in here and I'll see what I can do to explain them.
The usual disclaimers apply of course.

Still better than the HG/SS version.
It has a more coherent tune, but that's not saying much, since by today's standards the old version is about as grating to listen to as the fucking Lavender Town theme.
I do not remember hating this song as a kid, and usually I get nostalgic over the old school themes, but this one aged terribly.
I don't think it's as much about ageing badly and more about just being a shitty discordant tune in the first place.
I dunno I fucking love it.
It's too crowded for me, all the notes seem to be overlapping the others and it just seems noisy.

Japanese was/is fun to learn, it's a nice dogmatic language without all the gorillion self-contradictions you get with certain ones. However it's not really the most useful language to learn.
I almost wish I'd done Russian in school instead of Japanese, but I don't really regret learning moonrunes.
If you feel like misery then go for Chinese, shitty language and horrendous alphabet but it's about the most valuable business language after English today.
You speak Japanese and haven't been to Japan to fuck real life anime girls?
I have been to Japan but not to engage in degeneracy. I went to be a western parody of the asian tourist who takes pictures of literally everything on the trip.

Does the old stuff have any point to it yet?
Or did they make TTK obsolete like the rest of the game with the next expansion?
You can keep your TTK stuff as long as it's Legendary or Exotic
Like VoG and Crota, do you actually get exotics that work from it or is it all pointless crap?
From the Raid? I've heard the exotic from it is good, but I don't give a shit about it enough to actually get it
Nah as in, if i got on and did VoG would the exotic i get from it work for Y2 or would it be redundant? that was my biggest gripe with TTK
No, they still didn't make the Year 1 stuff infusable, but anything that was in Year 2 can be infused for Year 3
Alright thanks, doubt I'll be getting RoI then.

Fuuuuuuck
The way they handle dying in the game is like, no pls stop.
Especially when they do the final charge and he's dying constantly, you just end up feeling miserable watching another guy take the place of the one who you just got killed.
There's gonna be an achievement for making it all the way without having any soldiers die isn't there?
I don't think you can, certain deaths there were scripted but ones like the first part are just a matter of how long you survive against infinite spawns of krauts. When I word it like that it loses it's magic tho

Things are pretty much the same way they always have been, maybe a bit more relaxed because everyone has fought it out and pretty much hit some sort of understanding with one another.
I can't really remember the last time the mods had to step in to break up a fight at least.
