Metacritic is only useful for the customer reviews, professional reviewers are... well...

Unreliable.
>implying MW games are bad games.

They are cancer quarantine zones, and they are all made solidly and with consistency. I don't see the problem. Kotick and the gang are the heroes we need, but not the ones we deserve.
Nah, they are quite good as a whole. MW3 though, is fairly shit even by CoD standards. The point here being, the reviewers all suck the game's dick relentlessly whilst the consumers panned it.

Same shit happens with films, what the average joe on the street thinks of some shitty oscarbait movie is probably not a lot. Whereas a critic will let said film take away his wife and kids for a chance to watch it again.
Is MW3 really that shit?
I put like 48 hours into it's MP, but it wasn't enjoyable.
Everything felt so bland, just grimy and dull to shoot. The killstreaks were entertaining enough, but ehh the game just wasn't very good.

Serious / Re: Extremist beliefs aren't the issue
« on: March 04, 2015, 01:47:49 PM »
Nowadays extremism is pretty much exclusively referring to hardline/salafist/wahabbi muslims, as a mark of distinction between them and say Shias or Kurds who (as far as I understand it) don't advocate the wholesale slaughter of anyone who sneezes whilst looking eastward.

I'm not sure how it would be akin to racism though, it's just a way of clarifying what it is you have an issue with. If you have a problem with all muslims/islam as a whole then that's one thing, if you have a problem with ISIS tier psychotics and the branches of islam that breed and ferment these people then that's another.

That being said, it's entirely possible for extremist vegetarians/vegans to apply their views selectively and advocate stuff like killing humans who eat meat.
My problem is that when anyone commits a heinous act in the name of an ideology, it always gets written off as "extremism" as if that's the answer to why they did what they did without factoring in any kind of extraneous variables involved, or the ideology that they based it off of. These people intentionally divert discourse and criticism just to maintain the status quo of being politically correct. Hence my "omg das racis" analogy.

I think that might be to do with the numbers being spoken of, there are about 1.5 billion muslims on the planet at the moment and whilst I don't have any exact numbers to hand, say that there are a million of those 1.5 who are prepared to go out and behead infidels in the name of allah. That would still leave a vast majority that aren't living violent lives.

Now despite my whole absolutely haram running joke shit, I'm mostly on the fence about islam. There are things in it to be admired, as with any religion but there sure as shit are things written in the Quran that are objectively abhorrent. The point I hold over that though, is that it doesn't seem fair to hold one holy book to a certain standard and give the Old Testament a free pass. I'm sure that someone with too much free time has done a content analysis on the two books to compare frequency of violent acts/exhortations to commit violence but from what I remember of the bible it's fairly bloody <.<

Where do they get these people?

Presumably the same places that ban evolution from being taught in science lessons or refer to the civil war as 'the war of northern aggression' rather than a bongarong over slavery.

Serious / Re: Can you justify your religious beliefs?
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:33:57 AM »
I tend to see that there is a higher power, perhaps its some cosmic creator or the universe itself or something. I don't know. And that's the point, I don't know and I'm not sure.
That doesn't make you an agnostic.

In Richard Dawkin's "The God Delusion", he comes up with a 7-point system for determining your religious beliefs. 1 being, "yes, there is a god", and 7 being "I am absolutely sure there is no god".

On that list, he scores himself a 6, because he cannot prove a negative, and cannot be sure that a god really doesn't exist. In this sense, he is too, an agnostic.

Where do you fit on that scale?

Quote
(What do you mean I'm not?  ???)

Because you either believe there is a god or there isn't. There is no middleground.
I guess I'm 4 or 5.

So you're saying that I have to be part of an extreme?

No, I'm saying that you either believe in a god or you don't. It's up to you, either way, I still like you as a person.

You can say "I don't actively know there is a god, but I know there is no evidence for one so  I will live my life accordingly", which is what I do. But you're still an atheist because you fall under the presumption that there isn't one.
But I do think there's one...its just that I don't believe in the Church's god.

That makes you a theist, then.

And all I'm asking you to do is justify it to me.
Hmm...I guess that I think that the universe didn't just come to happen at random.
Think of erosion and formations of rivers as a comparison. Nobody created the river, it just happened. It's not random, a series of things happened which created what we see and are today.

I don't understand how people think there has to be a creator when you can see things in nature happen solely due to different natural effects. We used to attribute the wind and water and fire and other elements to individual gods, and now we look at that as "mythology". That's what the god of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism is, mythology. A poor explanation created by people to try and explain how everything came to be, and used religion itself to control other people.

We don't question how a river forms because we know how it forms. We don't attribute the formation to a river god. Why attribute the universe to a god? It's the exact same ignorance, just on a much larger scale.
Lies, the river gods are very real.

I was planning to do it at least once, but then I found out the Crux wasn't a guaranteed drop and I gave up. I'll probably end up doing it when my friend drags me along though but I'm not really that fussed with the Raids. « on: March 03, 2015, 06:13:46 PM »
Hostile Sexism Score: 2.73
Benevolent Sexism Score: 2.55

You see, the questionnaire only asked pretty mundane ones so it got an average sort of 'meh' answer. If it was stuff like 'would you rather shoot a woman in her annoying face or kill an innocent hard working man?' then it probably would be more accurate.

Serious / Re: TIKRIT: Big offensive HABBEDING in Iraq right now.
« on: March 03, 2015, 03:54:26 PM »
Jesus the Iraqi army is a mess. A lot of that is blind fire from way off. Not to mention their hodgepodge of uniforms/civi gear.

Air game and Iranian competency should give them the advantage tho. It'll be bad if this turns more sectarian though. They're pushing into Sunni territory with largely Shia forces.
I thought the blind fire was silly too but apparently it's a tactic. one group will blind fire to make the enemy take cover, this gives a chance to the their fellow soldiers to take some ground. i dunno tbh

I think that is the point of it <.<
Covering fire and all that, spray loads of rounds down at the enemy so they either 1. Return fire and get killed by marksmen or 2. Keep their heads down and shit their breeches which allows the other unit to move up and engage them.

Yeah it wasn't cheap <.<

I doubt I'd ever sell it though, it's one of my prized possessions >_>
I have a fair few of the original Toa though, my friend also offered to sell me all of them at £5 each a year or so ago. Like all of the original mata nui ones. Fuck me I should have taken him up on that <.<

Nigga are you high? Pohatu Mata alone is going for over £80 on Amazon.

I love the Axalara though. I got it half price too.
I have the Jetrax and Rockoh as well.
I know ;___;

I was completely broke at the time though, so I could barely afford my own shit let alone buying up extra bionicles <.<

Maybe he still has them though, I'll have moni soon so if I'm lucky I could jew them off him >.>

Don't be so pedantic.

I don't care much for the reboot story either, but that's not going to put me off buying one or two of the new sets.
Fair enough, but in my case, the story was what kept me interested for all those years and was the main thing I liked about Bionicle, I very much did like the sets, but the story gave those sets more meaning than simple pieces of plastic with cool designs in my eyes.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the old story a lot, much for the same reasons as you.
Hell, I even like the Bara Magna/Spherus Magna storyline.

Nah. They don't look great. I still have my 200+ old ones that I need to sell at some point.
>selling them any time soon

Save them and rake in the dough when you're older.
Pohatu Mata is going for over £80 on Amazon. Wait even longer and they'll be worth even more.

Bloody hell...

I need to find my collection of them then <_<
The Axalara T9 alone would be worth a pretty penny if you give it time.
That thing was like what, £100 when it released in 2008?
Yeah it wasn't cheap <.<

I doubt I'd ever sell it though, it's one of my prized possessions >_>

I won't be getting it until I get a new PC but it's better now right?

Got a little question for the theologians here <.<

Why does the old testament god demand blood sacrifices and why does the new testament god not? Or am I missing something here?

Before Christ, you gave a "sin offering" of a lamb.

Jesus is the ultimate "sin offering", hence being called the "Lamb of God".

Old Testament was before Christ, New Testament was before during and after His time.
Well what if I value the life of an innocent creature above saving my own hide to get into the afterlife?
Does that count for something or does it not satiate khorne enough?

Because regardless of the bible's teachings, I wouldn't kill an animal to get into any afterlife. Meatbags, maybe. But not animals.
Traditional beliefs from Christianity/Judaic religions was that God gave animals and the world for Man to do whatever he wants with. Hence why the life of a cow, goat, sheep, etc. didn't matter to them more than as something to use.

This is theorized, iirc, to be in part why plenty of people today act the same way not giving a shit about the land or the planet and just doing whatever they want they seem valuable with it.
Right so... other living creatures have no feelings then? <_<
Cause that doesn't sound like a particularly nice god, I get that he put them here for food and shit but to sacrifice them like that... it's kinda wasteful.

But apologies is this is getting incoherent, because I am getting incoherent. Lol.
