Kill yourself

Here, I'll save you the trouble of snitching.
snitching about what? It looks like I'm being told to kill myself on the daily. I'm used to it. Also was my post traumatizing?
More to do with the serious board having a certain standard of posts and a two word 'kill yourself' doesn't really meet said standard.

So the thing I would like to point out is that the one 'getting mad at college students' wasn't actually getting mad at college students, if you read the full essay he wrote instead of some conservative rag's manipulated story you'd have seen that.

The other thing I'd point out is that this mister marine in question wasn't injured in a helicopter crash, but was recounting the tale of his friend who was.
sounds like op could have picked a less biased article.
Indeed he could and I wish he'd chosen the article that Turkey linked in his post because it's a much better read than the shite in the OP lol

Serious / Re: Any other Bongs watching the leaders debate on ITV?
« on: April 02, 2015, 06:28:25 PM »
I watched it and it was pretty fucking funny.

Be warned the following ramble contains a lot of profanity.

Milibum was beating himself off infront of the camera every time he spoke, christ that was annoying and then the green lady started that shit at the end too.

Policy wise they might as well have been all the same person, Farage banging on about immigrants being the cause of all evils and how you can fix the economy by leaving the EU and banning all the immygants was quite endearing to watch. Even though he's a twit, he is a very charismatic one and some of his jabs had my laughing quite loudly <.<

Clegglett was the only fucker to mention mental health but I can't bring myself to vote for the LOLiberal Democrats, ever, with the clegglett in charge. VInce Cable maybe but he'd never make PM sadly. Cameron was somewhat convincing with his stuff over the economy and even though I hate their guts for trying to carve up the NHS they are at least going to do better than following the farce of Greece like the other minor parties wanted to do.

Hurr Austerity baaaaaaad, yeah no shit it sucks but have you seen what happens when you suddenly try and reverse it? Let alone without a solid plan to do so. As for housing, it was again the tories who spoke the most sense which pains me slightly to admit.

So in summary we have
Greens - A nice sideshow but not enough sound policies to go with giving a damn about climate change.

Liberal Democrats - +1 Kudos for mentioning MHC but every time he opened his gob I was trying not to laugh. 'We did the next best thing to scrapping tuition fees!' ... by tripling them. Fuck outta here.

Plaid/SNP - Nice to see a different side to politics but it just left me a bit more salty towards the scots. They get free education and prescriptions from us but still QQ about the only thing keeping Putin's cock inside his trousers. Plaid didn't seem bad really, just looking out for the welsh as is their right to do so.

Labour - I tended to zone out when Milibumbandit was doing his hand bobbing thing, because it was just so damn funny. You could tell he'd had public speaking lessons from some cutrate nitwit and was just mirroring the 'politician's wank' endlessly. Policy wise it was just a gimped version of what cameron was spouting with no solid promises at all.

Tories - I will admit, their points about the economic growth were decent, they are at least Pro-EU but might flipflop to woo back eurosceptics. The housing plan was sound and they didn't come out with anything too shitty for once. Gove is gone and I could perhaps stomach another 5 years of them provided thaaaaaaat they fuck their greedy bastarding paws right the fuck off the NHS and remove their privatising penisuuus from the equation. Ahem. '4% is now 6%' another 5 years and that might be 10%. I hope that enough Pro NHS MPs get the fuck into westminster to cockblock the sods who are carving it up.

UKIP - We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,
Amen.
FUCK IMMIGRANTS

And that was a night in britbong politics through the eyes of a jaded psych student <_<

He's pretty explicitly mocking the notion that trauma could stem from racism or discrimination.
You're reading too much into it; he's clearly denouncing instances of racism and discrimination which are obviously not traumatic.

Look, call people pussies or whatever it takes, but some people do in fact become traumatized through discrimination, and flippant remarks that they belong in a psych office instead of a college campus are just dumb.

I looked up the actual essay the quote was sourced form, and it's much more cogent than this article. I have no idea why they didn't even link the source material.

That was a brilliant essay, he really was dead on the mark with all of it. The cherry picking OP article made him out to be some sort of dinosaur redneck jarhead, which I'm sure appeals to frequent readers of clickbait but he's really bloody not.

Thanks for digging this up and linking it >.>

I sometimes genuinely think that just moderating this place is going to get me on a watch list of some kind.
I've said a few times that if I'm not on a watchlist of some sort I'd be rather miffed.

In some ways he has a point, but it depends on how you interpret his words at the end.

Can racism and discrimination lead to trauma? Potentially.
I'll just copy out the DSM summary stuff from my textbook here <.<

The individual has been exposed to or threatened with death, serious injury or sexual violation: by direct experience or by witnessing a traumatic event; upon learning about a violent or accidental death of a close friend or family member; or by extreme or repeated exposure to the effects of a traumatic event, such as emergency workers encountering human remains.

Note how that covers threatened with as well as exposed to. So it is possible for someone who is getting death threats as a result of racism/discrimination to develop PTSD/be traumatised by it. Possible, but I wouldn't say that's very likely. The individual in question would already have to be pretty heavily predisposed to PTSD to develop the symptoms following something 'less' traumatising like that.

What is bullshit is how they (Tumblrites) stole the term Trigger and it's conjugations from PTSD sufferers to make their petty problems seem more legitimate. Seeing something that upsets you is par for the course in life, that doesn't mean you have been fucking triggered by it. It's called being upset.

If you've been in a car crash and the sound of a car door slamming makes you freak out and break down into a nervous wreck, that's being triggered. Not crying because someone put gore in your sherlock tags or burst the cotton wool bubble you've wrapped yourself up in.

Ugh.

So mister marine there has a point, but it's not quite all there. That does depend on how nitpicky you want to go with it though <.<

A podcast? What do you guys do on it?

We discuss various topics, some picked and some just random, then answer some community questions
can you guys talk about immigration and give your thoughts on hunting, dismembering and the commercial sale of wildlife?
The immigration one is best saved for when Meta is on the podcast <.<

And the hunting stuff is best left for one where I'm not present >_>

The Flood / Re: Chat Thread (Wednesday — Whenever)
« on: April 01, 2015, 07:56:47 AM »
So , why is this only a limited time thing again?

To do with post count stuff, the idea being that a chat thread garners a lot more posts about inane stuff so rather than letting that count towards the total it's deleted and replaced by a new one periodically.

I don't think that's going to stick though, because it's rather tedious >.>

8955
i mean do you really have any other options?

Tories
Labour
Liberal Democrats LOL
Greens

SNP
Plaid Cymru
Sinn Fein

You can't barrage the Farage though.

Honestly it doesn't make a blind bit of difference who you vote for this time around, no party is going to win a majority and I'd be surprised if two parties combined can make up a majority. Unless it's a Tory-UKIP coalition in which case you can either grab some popcorn and watch that self destruct or get out into the EU whilst you still can >_>

I had three pieces of Exodia way back when >_>

The body and the right limbs, but no left leg or arm :l

I'm not really sure what could beat him though, since the only stuff we have to go on is the Obliterate! and the instant win if you get all five cards to play. So if you get all five cards then you can theoretically win any and every fight ever >_>

The techpriest rotation can be summed up with a few short lines.
