I'm an amateur of WH 40k lore, but I've been trying for years to nail down my favorite Space Marine chapter.
It would be the Grey Knights, but I don't like psykers.

I dunno. I guess I like my Space Marines to be more traditional combat units and not space mage monks.
All those psyker artifacts the Knights rely on seem to be rather fragile too. Not a good sign since everything in the WH 40k universe is so savagely powerful.
I like their base being on Ganymede though.
Hmm well the force weapons are pretty tough and their armour is some of the best in the Imperium >.> The fancier more arcane stuff they use to imprison unkillable daemons and the like is probably more fragile but that goes with the territory. It's a fair enough point with the preferring standard marines to psyker monks, but I quite like that sort of thing. The Hammer of Daemons story is one of my favourites, one GK stuck on some arsehole of a daemon world being tested and tested and tried until he can be corrupted/turned to chaos hell even full blown greater daemon possession and shit, but he still doesn't break because of that beautiful psycho-conditioned faith. Probably my favourite bit about the Spess Mehrens is the whole psycho-conditioning stuff >.>

The only traitors to be fighting for the Emperor, it's quite funny in a twisted sort of way. At least that's what they were doing up until the Emperor BTFO'd horus, which kind of screwed up the Alpha Legion's justasplanned.jpgs so they couldn't exactly go Um daaaaaaaaaaaaaaad we were actually following your ultimate goal in an edgelord sort of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay pls forgib. There were some that stayed outta the warp, I thought? Of course you've got the Dawn of War type, which don't seem very sneaky or Alpha Legion at all, but quite heretical.
Hmm they might have, the legion fragmented like most of the others. The DOW legion are an affront to the original ones, but that's what bathing in warp dust for 10,000 years does to ya. Metal bawkses.

i can't believe people would be butthurt about this being in serious. Do the posters here legitimately thing that "serious" is reserved for economy and politics threads? Serious threads about disorders and body image don't qualify as serious discussion material? Am I missing something here?
Because we've all made threads that were serious but weren't politics or economics and they were moved.
Yet your barely serious thread with no discussion value (because everybody agrees) is still here.

this reminds me, hospitals in fringe areas in ISIL-controlled/contested territory are being given a lot of shit on the internet for treating ISIL fighters. i wonder where we should draw the line, if at all?
I don't think it's wrong for the doctors to treat ISIS fighters for a couple of reasons <.<
1. Doctors who refused to treat ISIS soldiers are going to be killed brutally by the comrades of the shithead that they dragged in for treatment, by treating the jihadi they can continue to treat more deserving patients/non-coms.
2. The last time medical professionals got involved in political conflicts (Finding bin laden) the wider impact doesn't justify their involvement. When you have red cross workers, DWB/MSFs being gunned down in the street for 'working with the CIA' it's an utter waste of human resource/life AND it hurts the innocents who they are there trying to help.
It'd be nice to just blow bubbles in their IV lines sure, but the bigger picture unfortunately requires treating them along with anyone else wounded in the fighting.
