eks dee Humans are sentient creatures, believe it or not. I don't see what is all that humorous about it.
Did you miss my underline? Humans are sentient, but it's far from a gift. It's the opposite.
I disagree, it is a gift because it allows the species to choose to do good rather than just defaulting to natural programming. Sure good deeds and altruism can appear in non-sentient creatures, but you won't find a species of canid working together to save another species simply for the sake of maintaining biodiversity or looking at the bigger picture and understanding the role that bumblebees play in keeping entire biomes intact (for example). Humans on the individual level as a sentient creature aren't really all that special, so much is up to chance as to how they act in life. Usually selfishly. It's when they group up and work towards a better goal that sentience shows it's worth.

Oh lawdy, agreeing with verb. This is an odd day.
You see I first read the post and thought it was worded negatively, but uh... nope. It's true, humans are so far one of the apex species but that's not really a good thing. The rats on mauritius were apex there, they massacred damn near all the native birds and that's not a good thing at all.
A universe filled with nothing but murderous creatures isn't really something to cherish, humans should be using their evolutionary insight to make things better for other creatures not just slaughtering them for amusement, easy food and via carelessness.
(That's where we'd diverge on the point I imagine verb)
Humans have the gift of sentience, and we waste it by being no better than rats.

Oh lawdy, agreeing with verb. This is an odd day. we don't disagree that much
no more than i disagree with the average user, anyway lol
Yeaaah lol I think really the only major disagreement is anti-natalism, the rest would just be down to a matter of proportion.

I think I got a pretty good ending actually <.<
It all seemed to work out for everyone involved, which wasn't bad seeing as how I just went with my gut for all the choices through the game.

For me it's not a pokemon playthrough without an Aron raised to an Aggron >_>
But that's just me, do you have any pokemon like that? <.< It'd be good to aim for one of them, makes a new team feel more familiar.
Equally I'd pick a weird pokemon, one that's not necessarily all that good and see how well you can do with them.
My BW2 team was uh... lots of strange pokemon.
off the top of my head I went with
Seedot Wooper Aipom Snivy Darumaka and a bug type that I can't recall ;-; sorry whoever you are.
It made for some... challenging battles.
And to tell the truth, I already ditched the starter pokémon Snivy for a Riolu. I wanna be unique in this playthrough
I have done that a couple of times, just mixes things up a little more than usual lol.
Starters always get that advantage when you play Pokémon, always ahead of your team and you always have a connection to it right away. Making it the best Pokémon you have because it's the one in the first slot.
So going ahead and placing your starter to the side can REALLY change things up, which is really nice.
What starters did you give up?
I can't really remember, but I have a feeling it was one of the sinnoh starters for a platinum playthrough.

AP psychology looks to be fun. AP Literature might be a little difficult due to the inherent vagueness of the interpretation of literature, but the class discussions have been very interesting. AP Government has been meh, although we've had some fun discussion regarding the GOP debates. AP Econ. is next semester but I feel that it's going to be boring as hell. Political Science is fun, basically it's just class discussion and the teacher telling us his rather humorous perspective on things. Pre-Calculus is going to be awful because it's on level and therefore filled with apes (granted I'm not good at math either but still at least I act like an adult). Forensic Science hasn't been too interesting thus far, maybe it's just taking a while to get into gear CISCO Networking has been dull.
All in all, I'm just sad I don't have any AP History classes left to take.
One thing I've always wondered, what does the AP stand for?
Advanced Placement. More college level stuff. More in depth. Boosts your GPA.
Ahh, very good. It's always struck me as a little strange that yanks do so many subjects for their degree with all the major/minoring stuff. But I guess we get all that out of the way with sixth form and the like so when it comes to university time you just blitzkrieg the one subject until you live and breathe it.

I know yanks had this thread a little while back, but since the euros are all off to university nowish I thought I'd make one now <.<
I've had all my textbooks arrive in the last couple of weeks and gone over the year ahead on the website and it's looking 10/10 for me.
I haven't seen any irrelevant, boring or inane bollocks which is very good. It's basically Mental Healthcare from start to finish. The only bit I'm not looking forwards to is the psychodynamic bollocks which of course falls under the counselling module but hey ho. Should be an enjoyable year all the same.
What about you folks?

I don't mean like brown to blue sort of change but where eyes that are Green/Gray/Blue/Indistinct and they shift between colours depending on your environment/ambient light/clothes that you are wearing.
If I wear a black/dark blue jumper, my eyes will appear green. If I wear a cream one, like now, I looked in the mirror and my eyes were bordering on white/very light Gray.
I used to be a little annoyed that my eyes stopped being blue, but I quite like how they change colour nowadays.
Anyone have this/know what it is?

I've never walked out of a film, the only film I have ever not finished out of disgust was Don't Mess with the Zohan Sweet jesus that was unbelievably bad, quite aside from being downright disgusting.

What's the retirement age in the UK Meta?
60 seems a little steep to still be working. Anybody who's currently 60 in my country is on their pension.
65, but it's going to keep creeping up as the years go on.
It's the same here in Canada. The current retirement age is now pushing 68.
But that doesn't mean people who are currently 60 as of today get their pension cut off because the rate has changed today. Then again that's my country. What do you suppose the retirement age was in yours when that guy started working?
Hmm well as I recall it's been 65 for quite a while, so the poor bugger in question wasn't that far away from retirement in any case. It's more for the current and uprising generations that will be facing the runaway goalposts for retirement. Honestly it doesn't bother me too much, I'd very much intend to (assuming I go into the field I wish to) work until I either die or go doddery beyond repair.

Fear of being outdoors?
Shut the fuck up and act like a man. I have had GAD my whole life. Sometimes you need to suck it the fuck up and do what's necessary in life.
I would hope that you know that Anxiety disorders affect people to different degrees, someone can have mild anxiety and someone can have crippling anxiety. Equally not everyone is as resilient as some, the luckier folks are able to quash their anxiety with willpower and resolve and continue without breaking stride and the unlucky ones can end up hyperventilating on the floor at the prospect of the telephone ringing. ++ Regarding some of the other points ITT It's not incorrect to say that people who are broken like this, or who commit suicide can be classed as weak willed. What that doesn't entail is the right to hold that against them, nobody chooses to be weak - shit just happens to them and they end up knocked for six. Chances are they need a hand getting up again, it's weakness of course but not by a fault of their own. It's also a good way of someone finding their strength when they do pull through. And very few people can do that all on their own, the lucky ones again. +++ As to some of the gun jumping and throat leaping that has happened, I'd just highlight this bit that PSU said You have a mental disorder? Either get over it yourself like I did or Get some fucking meds and move on with your life. It's a brash way of saying it, but essentially it's what people should do. If they can overcome their difficulties solo, then kudos to them for being made of sterner stuff. However if they cannot, then chances are they'll need a hand and that will take the form of either a shrink*, some tablets or both. Accepting that they need help to get up again and carry on isn't exactly easy, hence I wouldn't word it so... strongly... but that's actually the ideal outcome of treatment. Functioning properly again. As for the KYS banter, it's not exactly in good taste given the thread topic but this is the internet after all. ++++ *A shrink here refers to anyone who gives sound advice and an empathetic ear, you don't have to hold a degree to help someone out of a dark place. Friends and Family all have their roles to play, but if the bigger guns are required that's when the professional shrinks turn up to play <.<
