to be fair, that's what happens when you ignore gun control and mental healthcare for decades

You reap what you sow, yanks.

Mental health is definitely the core issue.

We have to analyze socio-cultural changes over the last few decades and try and figure this out. Why is this happening all the time now? I believe it to be a number of factors, including but not limited to: poor mental health programs, the increased acceptability and accessibility of extremely violent and sexual content that could be viewed by children (without the guidance of an adult) and so forth.
and guns

lots and lots of guns

god i love guns

But really though, to beat the dead horse some more because i can't really shitpost without being serious

The UK has a similar problem with it's shitty mental healthcare access, it's not as bad as the states because you don't rely on insurance/wonga to get seen by a shrink but it's hardly easy access either. We just don't have guns, explosives and god knows what other tacticool shit you can find at walmart in copious amounts, so our disturbed kids don't really get to go postal in the cafeteria.

Mental health is a big part of the problem, but if yanks didn't get gunboners like nobody else on the planet - you wouldn't have school shootings every other week/month.

Yes, but why didn't shootings of this type happen so much say 40, 50 years ago?
There is a broader issue that underscores these shootings, and I believe their is a way to lessen them without completely sacrificing the remnants of the "frontier culture" that helps provide cultural distinction from other Western countries.
Declining mental health as a result of western culture's unhealthy focus on the material, 'the american dream', economy going into the shitter etc etc

Add to that all the extra guns that billybob can now pick up from the supermarket rather than tommyguns being the preserve of al capone and you have the perfect shitstorm

The Flood / Sep7agon helped me at work today
« on: December 13, 2015, 05:57:44 PM »
So towards the end of my shift, I'm by the counter and my boss is chatting with a customer and as they say adieu bossman says 'inshallah' as a parting comment

Couple of issues there

1. inshallah =/= goodbye
2. the customer in question spends a lot of money on scratchcards for fun, pretty sure gambling = haram sooooooo I doubt he's a muslim or a practicing one anyhow but hey, he's from an arabic country with an arabic name so potato potato.
3. this is yet another example of #creepingsharia in the UK

so anyhow, boss asks me if what he said was correct because he's not actually muslim (when your name has 'Singh' in it, zero prizes for guessing his religion) and because I know a little bit about a lot of things and he tends to ask all manner of questions to pick my brains.

Now here's where sep7 comes in.

Prior to the ayatollah banter that was going on a little while back, I knew three things in arabic/muslamic - Jihad, Allahu Akbar and Kuffir.
Through discourse with my fellow imams in this wonderful jewish madrassa, I picked up a few less loaded arabic phrases.

Inshallah, Mashallah, Salaam alaikom and bismallah

If god wills it, it is god's will, peace be upon you and in the name of god respectively (rough meanings of course, I don't into kabob)

So rather than the unhelpful additions of terrorist words to the conversation, sep7 allowed me to point out that inshallah doesn't really work as goodbye and that instead he might want to greet him with salaam alaikom next time <.<

Anyway that's my islamic day in a nutshell

How has sep7 helped you in your employment?

This could also just be a trick by the media to get more republicans against Trump to divide the party even more.

The ride never stops.
But considering how a man like Trump would have friends in high places (and low places, considering we are talking about journalism) that could equally be a part of his plan.
What's the next step in his master plan?
Eating potato chips.

The general view of those leaks on the thread is that it's fakes made up for rusing, but I honestly have no clue how real/fake/legit it is.

I've spoilered it up to be on the safe side and I'd ask people remember to do so, but yeah it's not exactly something that can be proven to be a real leak or not - I'd just assume it's a fake for pisstaking purposes and carry on.
I mean, I don't know if you've been following Smash at all, but when the entire CSS was leaked (the first time we saw the Duck Hunt dog as a playable character) everyone thought that was fake, too. Ended up being real. So I think a certain degree of paranoia is warranted. Thank you, though.
Yeah I don't have the first idea about Smash and the like >.>

No worries though

Now I didn't see the actual awards, but (from the video's implications) did they really give 'Best Narrative' to a mobile game... over TW3?

It'd be funny if it wasn't so depressing.
It was released on both Windows & Mobile and to answer your question...yes, yes they did.

A theory that has been kicking around for a little while is that Trump is actually a double agent trying to hamstring the republican party to secure a win for the democrats.

The BBC did an article on this recently to stir shit up again, because the UK is currently sperging over him wanting to ban all UK citizens from entering the USA.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-35066940

The article is fairly well balanced and tongue in cheek to a point, but I imagine yanks can already form an opinion on this question without some pre-reading.

What do you think, is he going to pull off the mask and reveal the lizard face right at the crucial point of the election? Or he is doing it for publicity/amusement? Or is he genuine? (as far as politicians go)

Deci - I hate to trot out the generic line for this sort of thing, but you should speak to a professional about this. A doctor (family doctor/GP) is usually a good first port of call, they can then recommend where you should go next.

Inertia is hard to overcome, but doing so puts you back on the path rather than floating in stasis for an indefinite period of time.

LOL You people

Seems like half of Sep7agon is currently depressed while the other half was depressed at some point already in their lives
I understand some of you guys had fucked up parents and some stuff but... man the fuck up.

Terrible advice if taken at blunt value as is.
I'm just saying from what some of you have said you don't really need to be putting the gun up at your head.

I don't know maybe I just don't understand.
Fruit and Sandtrap covered a lot of the stuff I'd have said, so I'll just leave an anecdote.

I know a chap, successful as it gets.
Big house, fancy cars and a thriving business.

He busts his ass off for ungodly hours every day, but his brother does the same.
And yet one day, he just broke down. He'd lost the will to do anything in life.

They come from a stable background, well adjusted family and all that. No obvious traumas or destructive events in their pasts but boop, one day brother #2 gets knocked for six by depression.

It's not an easy condition to understand, especially if you haven't lived through it yourself. That's not a 'you don't know, you weren't there' that's more of a simple observation.

I studied it as an illness before, during and after (present day) my own bout of depression. It's not really something that can be understood in logical format because at it's core it's a delusional disorder, not in the same sense as schizophrenia or MPD but in that it causes a warped view of the world in the patient. You can know the aetiology of it, the symptoms and the signs, the treatments and the mechanisms until you can recite the textbook verbatim but it's really quite difficult to get the 'click' without having had it.

I'll tldr crunch it up though

It's not an easy illness to understand, because it doesn't operate off logic and yet the person isn't psychotic/hallucinating which is a lot more easy to comprehend as in schizophrenia.

'Anyone' can get it, thankfully not everyone does.

Depression doesn't really give a shit about your history, people have come through hell and ended up 'fine' because their mind/biology is resilient. Some people go through seemingly innocuous problems and it breaks them.

But yeah... bit of a ramble and not really a  tldr

Do you truly fail to see the pattern in your life?

Quote
is the only thing that will make me happy

No, it won't.

Even if the film is great, after the initial buzz it will still ring hollow. You don't find happiness in life through the release of films and video games, setting yourself up like this time and time again isn't going to change a thing.

It's gonna be shit.

Anyone getting hyped is setting themselves up for the mother of all disappointments.

What leads you to believe this?
Psychic powers I bought off ebay

I mean hey, if I'm wrong then fair enough. I wasn't expecting anything decent out of Jurassic World but I actually enjoyed the film quite a bit.

Regardless of the quality of the film though, you are gonna have the prequels 2.0 with how the internet reacts to the film.

Yes, new accounts require an approval from one of the moderators for theirs posts to be displayed or not.

It's a double check for us to help make sure we don't get any banned users sneaking under the radar. The downside is of course that new users can be left hanging for a little while if none of the staff are around.

except Fallout 4 was good, Skyrim still sets a benchmark for modern games, and Fallout 4 was packed with an obscene amount of content.
