The Flood / Re: Afraid of talking to friends« on: March 02, 2016, 08:45:30 AM »
I had a bit of trouble with this a couple of years back, I'd keep making myself ill to avoid seeing friends. Not exactly the best coping strategy in hindsight but the fear of being rude and saying that I couldn't face seeing people that day was stronger than the more logical 'don't intentionally make yourself ill' thoughts.
And the times where I felt like I'd been ill far too much and had to see them, the apprehension from not seeing them in a long time made the days leading up to it incredibly stressful. What I found though, was that when I finally met up with them it was all fine and the anxiety pretty much vanished. It's strange that, but as a rule of thumb the thoughts of what might happen are always worse than what will actually happen. A friend is a friend, I see my schoolmates about twice a year these days but as soon as we all meet up it's like we only saw each other yesterday. I would try not to think about it too much. I really hate messaging people when my name is tied to the account, so facebook/emails/official shite. So to get around the dread I just send the message and immediately close the tab and vanish for an hour or so. It's silly but it worked for me and it might work for you <.< 2916
Serious / Re: Opinions on the raising of children by same-sex parents?« on: March 01, 2016, 06:32:12 AM »Actually it can, a father can take on the nuturing role to a reasonable extent. Obviously it wouldn't be great if the kid with two fathers had two 'fathers' and no 'mother' but from what I remember you find in those relationships one parent become the 'mother' and the other the 'father' regardless of their biological sex. Nuturer and Provider/Teacher would perhaps be better labels there though. And as a general view, there are a fucktonne of orphans/children in care and a load of normal families who are quite happy to shit out another round of As for kids developing issues when a parent is absent, yeah that does tend to happen but it's not a fully determined outcome. That would have to factor in early years input (prior to the absence), the manner of departure and what have you. 2917
Serious / Re: Opinions on the raising of children by same-sex parents?« on: February 29, 2016, 08:19:41 PM »
A good home is a good home, whether it's a single parent, two parents, amalgamated, typical adoption or same sex adoption.
I think in terms of the difficulties kids might face from having homosexual (adoptive or IVF) parents are going to decrease fairly soon, if not already. Society is already generally accepting of it, although the SJW lynchmobs on people who aren't all that open minded are the most surefire way to entrench bigotry. Kids are probably always going to use Gay and derivatives as playground insults, because kids are bastards. If there is anything remotely different about a kid and he isn't high on the pecking order? Boom, made fun of. As long as the potential homes are put to the same criteria as hetero households, there shouldn't be any issue. And as a general view, there are a fucktonne of orphans/children in care and a load of normal families who are quite happy to shit out another round of 2918

The game was broken at launch, then they fixed it and have spent the last year and a half improving and tweaking the game from community feedback, created the CTE to test their shit before launching new content and patches and are still continuing support for a title that came out two and a half years ago. Most AAA companies release a few patches and some DLC then move on already, DICE fucked up and they've gone above and beyond to make up for that. This post was sponsored by EA Ronku. 2923

It's a small community, people get bored, people hold grudges, people have bad days, people try to wind each other up for amusement etc etc etc
It's only when you have a 10 page flamewar going on that I'd call it notable drama. 2927

Even still, I'd argue that's a very "safe" genre to be making music in. There is a lot of old fashioned stuff in them, and whether that's because of the era the films were made in or because that's his inclinations is up for discussion. The cowboy films generally have a very traditionalist view of womenfolk <_< Although John Wayne always struck me as being worse for that than Eastwood, again though films/scripts/era and personal views aren't one and the same. 2934

(3 terms to one year)One half year. UK universities pay per year, which has three terms (Autum-Winter, Winter-Spring and Spring-Summer) with some breaks inbetween them. If you are paying 37,000 per year or 74,000 per year then that would be the question here - sol 2939

The Flood / Re: Black people in the UK« on: February 27, 2016, 07:13:10 PM »EhhIncredibly so when compared to America. It's £9k a year at most places, which is tuition fees alone. If you take out maintenance loans/accomodation fees like my friend has He's gonna be leaving with about £50k of debt. The saving grace is the repayments system being quite mild. As for the other more loaded parts of the thread, it's more to do with london being a poverty ridden shithole regardless of your skin colour. You have the rich bits and the touristy bits and then the citywide borderline slums. You find a lot more minorities in the inner-city areas, london is one of those areas so boop -> Not a lot of success stories there. |
