Gaming / Re: PC stuff round 2« on: May 06, 2016, 04:49:01 AM »It looks like an i5 would be around 150If future proofing is important to you then you should be spending more on the gpu and less on the cpu. An i5 with a gtx 980 would perform miles ahead of an i7 with a gtx 970 and would be roughly the same price.yeah definitely get an i5 you wont notice a difference with the i7. And personally id go for an r9 390 over the 970. Same price but performs better and has more vram. if you wanna stick with nvidia tho I understandhmm i mean it might not be noticeable now but i do want to keep it futureproofed for a few years at least an i7 around 200-250 whereas a 970 would be 250 and a 980 would be 400 so maybe i'm getting jewed but that's the price in sterling i5+970 = 400 i5+980 = 550 i7+970 = 450 i7+980 = i don't shit money I think a 980 is out of my price range really, 970 is the best i can afford to go for but I can stretch the extra 50 quid for an i7 over an i5 >_> 1983

If it's holding post because they are away for a while, that's fine.
But if it's like the post in blighty where they rarely bother knocking and stick the 'lol sorry go to the nearest depot' card through the letterbox instead that'd be a bit of a pisstake tbh. It's bad enough to have to go and get your damn post because they don't feel like knocking and waiting 10 seconds but to then have them charge you? e____e 1985

Gaming / Re: PC stuff round 2« on: May 05, 2016, 06:40:04 PM »If for gaming, go i5 and best GPU you can get.Yeah I don't like it and it seems to be bundled with any prebuilt/built for you (few sites) dunno as i've not really settled on having it built, kinda just window shopping for specs atm then i'll find one i like, compare the component cost with the built/shipped cost and see if it's a notable saving or not 1987

Gaming / Re: PC stuff round 2« on: May 05, 2016, 09:58:35 AM »Yeah listen to RC, an I5 is perfectly fine. Seems pretty good otherwise except:But is it though? The specs from two games I'd want to play both suggest an i7 for playing on high/ultra and if there was any way I could have windows 7 installed, i would. 1990

I kinda want this to last a while for gaming. i7/GTX 970 seems to be recommended for the sort of games I'd want to play at high/ultra. 1992

I've got a build-it-for-jew specs list here and it'd be appreciated if any of you can critique it
It's a buy it one obviously, but spec wise is this a good build/can you see any issues with it? ![]() If it seems like a good one, i'll feed the components into part picker and see what the price difference looks like for buying it individually/having someone build it. This^ is sitting at £1000 which is about the cap of what I would spend and it would be good to get it cheaper than that tbh but ye (Compatibility wise the site didn't show any issues but I'd double check that later) 1996

The Flood / Re: I'm interested in Warhammer 40k...« on: May 05, 2016, 04:10:51 AM »But know nothing about it.The system as in the tabletop game? It's pretty standard as far as those go, you have soldiers that shoot or stab each other and vehicles. Then you have special units that do something a bit different, heroes/commanders and the like. You build an army, paint it, then pick out the force for the battle you are gonna play (points system for weighing up the value of armies/units) and play with the rulebooks and codices to hand. What is the lore? I could and can ramble for hours on end about this but here is a video YouTube Any way to try it out? Depends a bit, if you have a hobby store nearby they usually have games you can play with ready made models and the like. Honestly though, you are better off sticking with the books/video games of the franchise. The models are obscenely expensive, even moreso if you don't live in the UK, the game is badly balanced and they've been going down the 'how2makemoremoney' route in terms of game design. It's good fun though. 2000
