Easily one of my favourite shows <.<
It's like a sequel to black lagoon in a way, at least in a loose sense >.> Both are some of my favourite anime ever heh. Lots of great action, violence, shooty shooty, story and god damn I love Jormungand <.< And Black Lagoon. 10/10 would watch repeatedly until I go into a coma. 15277

Serious / Re: Hamas is far, far worse than Israel« on: October 06, 2014, 02:01:49 PM »
It just seems to me that Israel can afford to be the bigger man in the situation, their Iron Dome is making this conflict absurdly one sided in terms of casualties. If they were to extent the branch of peace and actually fucking mean it for once, then just continue shooting down the rockets as they come it would make the conflict easier to judge in their favour.
But when they decide to go on a complete and utter roflstomp through the gaza strip like they did over the summer, it hardly gives them any grounds to claim self defence. 15289

The Flood / Re: Actually Hearing Your Real Voice« on: October 06, 2014, 12:31:01 PM »Everyone hates their own voice being played back to them. I've been told it's due to recording distortion and the fact that we hear our voice fuller and deeper than others do because of resonance in our own head and whatnot, giving people the impression that what they're hearing is foreign, weird and not at all in line with the impression they have of themselves. It's science stuff. A similar thing is applied with why people dislike photographs of themselves, it's to do with seeing your face in a mirror everyday, so when you see the 'correct' view of your face rather than the mirrored one it seems slightly wrong <.< I might dig up the study on it actually, it was quite the interesting read. 15292

Serious / Re: Is there a problem with Islamophobia in Western Culture?« on: October 06, 2014, 11:09:34 AM »
I think that criticism of Islam is perfectly fine, I have several problems with the religion myself but the problem arises when people lump all muslims in together because of the actions of a particular sect.
It's the same deal with Christianity, although bashing it is much more widely accepted now <.< You don't scream abuse at a protestant in the street because a catholic opposes abortion. 15295

Serious / Re: Mental illnesses don't exist. . . No, seriously« on: October 06, 2014, 10:52:39 AM »
Hmm, well I suppose an important bit of this would be whether you put your opinion behind the Biological approach for mental health (Which I do mostly) or the Cognitive-Behavioural (Which has it's place certainly, but is lacking when it tries to explain away physical causes of a mental illness, so generally you would need a combination of the two to determine the problem.
This does actually bring about the point that mental illness isn't quite as cut and dry as you would make it seem in the OP (Obviously you know this already). Take for example two patients with Depression, one responds to anti-depressants and the other to talking therapies whilst the anti-depressants don't have any effect on them. It's a fairly common dilemma faced by people treating those with depression in a clinical setting, they tend to just prescribe them as a shot in the dark. Then I guess you could also argue that it is because our understanding of the biology/neurology behind mental illness is still very much in it's infancy <.< A very good thread with a lot to discuss, unfortunately I'm in the middle of my coursework lol >.> When I've finished the week's work (I love to cram it all into one afternoon, blitzkrieg style) I would be quite happy to throw this around for a while >.> 15297
Serious / Re: "Moral responsibility" doesn't exist« on: October 06, 2014, 10:44:19 AM »
Whilst 1, 2, 3 and 5 are obvious in why they are not morally responsible for their actions, can you elaborate on why number 4 also fits the bill?
