A bad day for all of us then heh. And no worries. Genocide is more specific than mass killing, but mass killings are the staple of genocide <.< It can be for either religious, cultural, ethnic, racial or other reasons but it's usually ethnic/religious when it occurs. 13836
Serious / Re: So it turns out ISIS hops their dudes up on amphetamines« on: November 03, 2014, 07:42:01 PM »No this is actual historical fact and can be read in wikipedia. Hell it is why they got the name hassassins.Hashish was used quite heavily by the Shia Muslim sect called the Hassassins when they went on their assassination projects. I would just add, it's not just a wikipedia fact <.< It is documented in various history texts and the like. Although it was my understanding that Hashish was made from opiates and not Cannabis. EDIT - Turns out I was wrong, it is derived from cannabis. 13837

Serious / Re: Soliders in Iraq were fighting for out freedom« on: November 03, 2014, 07:33:33 PM »Why would you falsely assume I think genocide is the correct way to handle the situation by asking you for your own idea for solutions? That would be your mistake.Fair enough, I've been a little on edge today <_< Something is bugging me but I can't place quite what it is so I suspect that might be the cause of my irritableness. Quote Technically, you can solve genocides with a massive genocide of your own, because I just don't see another way except for the people rising up.Revolts very rarely ever solve anything, most times it just ends in annihilation of the rebels. What worked in 1776 is unlikely to ever bear the same fruit in 2014. UN intervention in a genocide is what is needed to stop it, it's generally quite a simple matter of shooting the aggressors. Permit me the trigger happiness but when someone has just tried to butcher a village of women and children because they are Tutsis rather than Hutus, they forfeit their 'right' to living on the same planet. If they are happy to attack and kill unarmed civilians then perhaps they should test their mettle against people who can actually fight back. The UN is a neutral force that does just that, but it isn't proactive enough in situations like Rwanda. You solve the genocide by killing those who start it and defending those who are being persecuted, you prevent the next one by educating all of those involved as to why it should never happen again. Quote That does NOT mean I condone, encourage or would make such an attempt until absolutely necessary.I'm not entirely happy with the highlighted part. Genocide is never necessary, that sort of thinking is what leads to genocide actually being carried out. Just to check we are using the same definition for a moment - http://www.preventgenocide.org/genocide/officialtext.htm Quote Western Nations have made things worse for countries with genocides by supplying arms to small factions.I agree, dumping arms into a conflict will never solve it. Quote Every time we get involved things just get worse for the entire world. Not necessarily, but more often than not when the USA turns up to the party it goes to shit. Which is why the UN exists. Quote So, simple question, what do you propose? There's no ulterior motive in that question, I just want to hear YOUR idea of solutions without you making some kind of accusation on my part.Kind of touched on this already up there^ Shoot the aggressors, defend the innocents. Target those responsible for the inciting of the violence and the promotion of it. Then educate the survivors on both sides as to why it should never happen again. I don't work for the UN, so I'm not exactly the most educated on how to resolve and prevent genocide but it strikes me as quite the simple matter of shooting the degenerate bastards who think that it is an acceptable thing to do. Quote Genocide is rampant in many parts of Africa, I'm of course speaking of the worst areas. It really isn't. Civil war is rampant, warlords and militias are rampant. Genocide is not, the most recent genocide in Africa was in Darfur in the early 2000s. 13839

Like a fucking toothpick in my eye. *sigh* Right Quote Genocide has been happening in Africa for at least 15,000 years. I'm not sure what you could do to stop it other than one ultimate genocide that reduces the population to near-nothingness.I then specifically asked this Quote So we should prevent genocide with genocide?Which you responded to with this Quote What other way is there?Ergo - You must think that Genocide is a way to solve Genocide. You then ask the point 'How do you fix africa's problems then?' (Paraphrasing) Which is the same as asking how long is a piece of string, there isn't a specific answer unless you give a specific country/problem. You can't simply start generalising one of the most diverse continents on the planet like that. So, ask a more specific question and please by all means clarify that you don't actually support genocide. 13840

What point is there in doing so if you are talking to someone who thinks Genocide is a reasonable way to fix it? And the 'problem' with Africa varies greatly from country to country. Do you think Kenya should be cleansed of life because of a genocide in Rwanda? What about Egypt? South Africa? Gambia? Morocco? Or even better, take a look at how the AU is handling the situation in Burkina Faso. Africa is starting to get it's shit together at last, but if some psychotic fuckbag decides to eat all of the Pygmies or to kill all of X ethnicity should the rest of the world stand idly by? 13843

Well I live near a forest and there aren't many guns here <_< Maybe every other farmer has one but it's really not all that common. I hate animals being hunted, but when you compare a bullet to the head with being torn apart by wolves... I'd say shooting it is kinder than the other option. 13851

Instead of culling I would rather have a few predators of the over populated animal introduced to have things under control. Say that was done in Britain, and we reintroduced wolves to the forests to control deer populations. Suddenly that makes things a lot more dangerous for the general public, especially when next to nobody in bongistan has ever encountered a wolf in the wild. Plus we aren't all packing <.< 13852

The Flood / Re: People who hunt for fun should be shot« on: November 03, 2014, 04:53:47 PM »Hunting for fun and culling are the same thing. There's a limit on how many permits are allowed. You're not going out and killing the entire species. If the population is down or up the permit amount changes accordingly. I would disagree, sport hunting can and is used as a part of population control (culling) but the primary intent behind culling is to maintain a population rather than to shoot a few animals for fun. Or at least I hope it is .-. My stance on things remains much the same though, if you go out to kill animals for fun then you are a sick bastard. If you hunt them for food and enjoy it, I don't like it but at least it's not wasteful. If you hunt solely for food then I don't have a problem with it even if it's not something I would approve of/take part in myself. When it comes to culling I view that as a more detached process, it's about caretaking for the bigger picture of the habitat. When the culling is carried out as a part of other forms of hunting, the above still apply to my thoughts on it. Quote Meh thread just reeks of sheltered ideology. People seem to forget the food chain exists. It probably comes off that way, but equally from the other point of view it seems like people are defending the enjoyment of killing living things. Not everyone mind you, but some. 13859
The Flood / Re: People who hunt for fun should be shot« on: November 03, 2014, 04:41:13 PM »Hunting is good for the environment and ecology by preventing trophic cascades and keeping populations in equilibrium. If hunting was suddenly banned, you'd see massive upheavals in predator populations followed by a sharp decline. You'd see the death of many riparian habitats across the country. I suppose that depends on if you replace sport/trophy hunting with proper population maintenance or if you just outright ban the hunting of animals. In Britain, as far as I understand it deer populations are managed by the forestry commission/landholders to prevent them from breeding unchecked since we wiped out all the wolves and the like a few centuries ago <_< 13860
The Flood / Re: People who hunt for fun should be shot« on: November 03, 2014, 04:38:28 PM »lol this thread. I've never gone hunting and I do understand how population control works and is necessary. I don't consider culling in the same light as hunting for fun. Quote Same people complaining will be the ones buying eggs or eating burgers without thinking about how shitty those mass farms are.And I don't do either of those, instead I buy eggs locally where you can see the chickens roaming around in fields .-. |
