I'll just focus on the mental health aspect because broader psychology is a far less clear science. So the science behind Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a demonstrable biological problem, brought about by variable factors. It could be genetics, life events, trauma or anything but even those 'psychological' events and factors hold a significant biological role through things like Neurotransmitters. The symptoms do vary, but to expect a patient to display 100% of the symptoms 100% of the time is as flawed as expecting someone with a common cold to always have a sore throat. Some do, some don't, it depends on the situation. Look at it like a broken leg, you can break it by jumping off a building or being run over. It's still a broken leg and the way in which you fix it might vary somewhat depending on the fracture but you still set the bone and sort it out. Similar approach with Depression, figure out the best way to treat it and go with that. Usually talking therapies combined with anti-depressants has the best chance of successful treatment. It isn't an exact science, because it's in it's infancy. And because it deals with incredibly complex living things in a less than tangible form >_> You aren't able to *see* the broken bone in their mind, you have to work out where it is and how to fix it through talking to the patient <.< Side point In psychology, every individual's personality is different (whether you measure it by MBTI or big five is irrelevant), meaning that every individual response to a test will be different. Science can't handle that. In physics, all electrons in the known universe behave in exactly the same way. In psychology, all people are different. This known, basic premise of psychology violates the preconditions of the scientific principle.
Actually human behaviour tends to follow a lot of patterns, it might seem like people are individuals but when you get a large enough sample you will have those who do the exact same thing and have similar personalities etc. More broadly, medical psychology is in it's relative infancy. I'd say it's something like early teens. If you remember how hamfisted and god-awful physical medicine used to be, and how precise/3spoopy5me it can be now, that's the rough parallel I'd draw. As we get better at profiling people, mapping brains and understanding what makes people tick - I expect to see some pretty drastic improvements in the scientific precision of mental healthcare <.< Final loose point, when dealing with meatbags things will never be straightforwards. Which is why the rainmen go to the physics labs and the lunatics go to the psych labs >_>

If anything, this just goes to show that the internet outages have rustled Kim Jong Fatshit enough to start up his tantrums.

Something to the effect of putting more effort into my studies.
Trouble is, it's all such low level dreary work that I did two/three years ago that I get bored and cut corners. So I bought myself a big old advanced clinical psychology textbook so I can have something interesting to study instead of something tiresomely inane.
Oh and to ban more ppls.

With your threads, it's like Russian Roulette.
It's down to luck whether it's trolling/shitposting or - like now - a good thread .-.
Hopefully this comes out making some sense but it's late and I'm tired etc.
It is a disorder, but only relative to statistical normality in other humans. Disorder doesn't imply mental illness though, even though it can be construed that way. The treatment is fairly simple though, figure out what's best for the patient and if they need surgery/HRT to get their mind in balance again then that's how you do it.
Sure the body is important, but imo the mind is what really counts for what makes a human a human.

The joke would be funnier if you could actually get a girlfriend.
That just stole this thread XD
But he had one.
She was giving him head and he pretended she was his daughter. Remember? Remember guys?
I try to repress things like that from my memory. For once I had succeeded. Thanks, friend.

Do you want them to bring in Certain Affinity and Ruffian Games to work on updates too then?
Well, they practically made the games, so eh.
343i stitched them together and created the experience. You really think outsourcing the updates to them is going to get the game fixed any sooner?
It worked with Battlefield 4 IIRC.
DICE Sweden handed over to DICE LA, who promptly set about fixing the damn game and they did an excellent job of it. So it can work, which doesn't mean that it would work to hand it over to other companies though.
but the catch is; BF4 is still broken as fuck and its a shiny copy and pasta BF3.
I'd say it's like 25-30% broken, compared to 70% at launch. As for being copypasta, yeaaah that's fair enough >_>

Pretty sure that's called normality, since the state of mind where you view life as not being worth living usually correlates with depression - The state of mind where you aren't depressed would just be that.
Normal/Upbeat if you wanted to take it a little further.
life is worthless =/= life isn't worth living
Depends how you use the phrase, but yes.

I named my mudkip in Omega Ruby "Full Circle"
I'm gonna attempt to use pokebank so I can trade my original swampart from Ruby to this new remake. He's gone through so many games to get here...the nostalgia is real.
I've got quite a few old friends from Emerald with me, but Leaf Green in particular. So many happy memories and seeing them all again in their full 3d glory instead of just a little sprite made me so happy >.>

I'd just like to point out, with the anime recommendation thread post removals that a fair few of them were undone afterwards. (I.e restored) I don't have the specifics but the ones that were inevitably derailing/argument starting were removed.
Perhaps it was overkill, but all things considered it's nigh on impossible for people to discuss anime on here without at least someone, doing the fucking weebs/die wibblies/hiroshima bombing yadda yadda yadda routines. It does get tiresome, even if you don't care too much about the threads.
Would I have removed them as zealously? Perhaps not, but I think this problem was reflected and acted upon with the restoration of some of the posts in there. The one that comes to mind was Verbatim saying how awful Kill la Kill was and some discussion on that.
Just some food for thought >.>

Some of you may have noticed that the serious board isn't being kept as... clean... as it normally would be. Chalk that one up to the mods being busy with christmas stuff and family/IRL fun. When things get back to normal, there will be a bit more stringent housekeeping.
This isn't a license to shitpost, it just means that a lot of the 'is this meant to be in serious'/borderline threads aren't given the effort of decision making >_>
