« on: January 05, 2015, 02:35:08 PM »
Shows that are currently airing
Spoiler
Garo: The Animation
Log Horizon Season 2
Parasyte: The Maxim

Finished shows
Spoiler
Seitokai Yakuindomo (Sex Jokes: The Anime)
Clannad: Afterstory (Tears: The Anime)
Mushishi: (I can't think of something witty to say)

Once the next season starts up, i'll be taking on about 10-12 different series on top of the leftovers from the previous season.

How far in after story are you?
Err.....
10 episodes.

You'll know when you need this. ;_;

11132
Wait, are people seriously starting to conflate otherkin with transhumanists?

No wonder I have constant urges to brutally murder people all the time.
What the fuck are otherkin?

The thing you put in the OP.
So otherkin and transhumanists are the same thing?
Do you want me to shoot you?

Transhumanists are people who seek to improve the human form/condition with any range of mechanics/bionics/genetic engineering/augmetics/selective breeding/eugenics and a few other things. In my version, it's about recognising the flaws of being a meatbag and seeking to remove/improve those flaws with robotics/augmetics.

Not being some lunatic who has plastic surgery to look like a cat. That's tumblr stealing the term that's been around since Science fiction started to explore ways to escape the fate of a meatbag.

Fuck anime.

Now you see, was this really necessary?
To go into an obviously anime related thread just to shit on it?

Steins Gate (Nearly finished)
Psychopass (about half way)
Hmm, just finished the F/SN: UBW season too.

I'm also going to be figuring out what to start watching next, since I have quite a few options to choose from. Probably the next monogatari series because Kaiki returns.

And the solution of "ban all the shitposters" also won't work at all.
It would for me. It would work like nothing else would work, and that's because you and I have fundamentally different ideas of what a good forumgoing experience is, and how a forum should be.

Mine is better, objectively.

I'm pretty sure there are enough forums out there, of high quality and dead activity that would suit this desire.
The flood is the flood, even if there aren't that many floodians left now. This place spawned from the offtopic remnants as you well know, so do you really expect it to be particularly high brow and iron willed against shitposters?

Well of course, the current criteria as explained in the sticky is that it's for somewhat serious discussion of serious topics rather than serious discussion of topics.
Well, there you go, then. I'm advocating for the serious discussion of topics rather than the discussion of serious topics in the Serious board. That's what I'm pushing for.

Having a serious discussion of any topic in the Flood is nigh impossible. Every now and then I make a poll asking the community if they use a particular forum feature--strangely, those threads are taken seriously, but if I actually want to discuss anything, like the new Death Grips album, it gets drowned out with literally 0 replies. Why?

Shitposting.
I'd like to be able to post semi-serious stuff in Serious but it always gets moved back to Shitpostlandia and dies.
Like what though?

Hmm yeah >.>
That's generally the idea for it, but at the same time it would be terribly dull if it was as dry as a desert. Even dustbin's bait is usually fine because it provides an interesting discussion point. It's a fine line really, I know you aren't a fan of all that but I'm not inclined to suck all of the vibrancy out of the serious board simply for the sake of it. Places like Reddit and Youth debates exist for proper serious discussion, the serious board is spawned from the flood so it's hardly going to be stick up the ass for entry.

11141
I'm not going to lie, if I were in some kind of dictatorial position of authority, I would have otherkin arrested and shot.

Or would I?
I would have said just section them, but you are american after all :/

Mainly because of shitposting from Door and Dustin in that board.  Otherwise there's plenty of stuff there besides religion and politics.
Again--it's not encouraged, and it should be. Because there's frankly not enough of it. I fucking guarantee if I made a thread about, I don't know, your favorite brand of soda? And I wanted to have a serious discussion on what is the best brand of soda? It would get moved.

Well of course, the current criteria as explained in the sticky is that it's for somewhat serious discussion of serious topics rather than serious discussion of topics.

its a fox show from 99/2000, cancelled after one season. it kickstarted the careers of a lot of famous comic actors like jason segel, seth rogen, busy phillips, john francis daley, and james franco. it's a coming of age high school show about a group of "geeks" and a group of "freaks (stoners)"

Ahh, hm not really my sort of thing but I do know the pain of Fox just cancelling great shows for seemingly trivial reasons.

I just think it would be somewhat amusing if North Korea actually assassinated someone over a film. Of course the aftermath wouldn't be as funny mind you >.>
Another assassination starting another World War, except this time instead of it being an Archduke, it's some guy who plays roles where he gets stoned.

Exactly.

Considering how information gets forgotten, twisted and distorted with the passage of time...
Imagine the history books on this one, James Franco - Communist Revolutionary, his death sparked WW3 when the USA invaded North Korea and carried on into China because ayy lmao.

The ones in my class aren't stupid thankfully, just... well pretty much all of them seem to either be stay-at-home mums and what appeared to be a grandpa talking.

Aaaaand none of them seem to know anything about psychology, which makes the conversations pretty one sided :/

Kinder Bueno has 240 calories per two bars - which is, one packet. Not only this, but it has 16 grams of fat per two bars. That counts for 25pc, yes, 25pc of your daily fat intake. I'm just warning you all - please do not consume these bars often or to excess, preferably not at all. They are terrible for your health.

Just thought I'd carefully remind you all of how unhealthy Kinder Bueno is.
This is why gyms were invented I think

How american.
>implying it's just better to sit and eat all day
>implying all gyms cost money

Actually, because of your BMR, if you be smart and watched what you ate, you could in theory sit and do nothing all day and still lose weight.
Yes, but you loose weight quicker and build muscle by working out

Funny. I was a pretty fat kid when I was younger. I started cutting down and monitoring everything I ate, lost 28 pounds in a month. I didn't exercise.
And I have a friend throughout high school that was thin as a bone and would go to buffets and eat like 10 plates full of food. People's bodies work different than others

It seriously is as simple as cutting down the portions, sugar, and refined carbohydrates - with a little bit of willpower to turn away food. The weight will literally fall off you.

Not to mention there are ways to speed up and slow down your metabolism. If you're currently overweight, then your metabolism should be extremely fast because of the amount of food you process daily.
It's more than loosing weight. It's about building strength, upping endurance, and pushing yourself to be better. Before working out, I would run a mile in a bout 17 minutes. Now I can run 1 1/2 miles in 14 minutes. I'm also able to lift heavier things now than before
All good stuff, that's the sort of thing you would (and do) go to the gym for.

I've literally never been to a free gym. The only gyms I've used that didn't cost money to get into were ones at my college, and ones at my apartment complexes, but both were paid through dues.
YMCA offers free memberships for those who don't have the money
I forget, is that the flaming homosexual club or the yank equivalent of a youth service?
Or both?
Considering I know plenty of gay people that have memberships and talked with gay employees when my mom used to work there, it is VERY far from being homophobic

You do realize you can exercise without a gym pass, right?
Only limited to certain routines. Sure I can do sit-ups, mountain climbers, and jumping jacks and save my money, or I can work various muscles using specific equipment instead. $29 a month is hardly a dent in my pocket

It's as simple as a fast paced walk or a jog....
Pretty much this.

When I finally got well enough to the point where I could get out and walk, I lost a fair bit of weight. I wasn't exactly american, but atrophy makes you tend to add on a few <.<
Although, I think I'm going to have to walk a liiiiittle bit more for the next few months after the christmas holidays >____>

1. Eat in moderation, and don't eat rubbish all day/chug fizzy pop. Once in a while won't kill you but keep it to once in a while.
2. Get out and walk for 30 mins at least each day

I'm not going to knock all of the workout programmes and weight loss plans/gym goers, but for the average person who doesn't have the inclination to do that shit all the time then just doing the small stuff should at least keep you on the healthy side of things.

Instead of the alternative... turning into a Scot or a Yank ;_;

Indeed they do.

My best friend used to eat like 10 portions of fish and chips in one sitting and he was thin as a reed. Much to the chagrin of everyone else because he was smug about it.

So then imagine the restraint it took for me not to grin when he said he was having to cut down on his food portions and fizzy pop intake because he was starting to look like a yank.
