Maybe later <.<

I am the most pain in the ass.

Honestly though it would likely be the person with the most bans, like Based Love.

Funnily enough, no <.<

He was mostly amusing to deal with, rather than a pain.

Of course it's rude, but perhaps you don't understand - This isn't a hugbox. Just because something is inflammatory or rude doesn't mean it's up for immediate locking. 'Play nice' is a reminder not to turn it into some outright flamewar and to leave it as it always ends up, with users making fun of themselves or their friends.

I get that you want this place ruled with an iron fist, it's just not going to happen though.
Nor is your case helped by jumping to ad hominems when you disagree with someone.
You realize that banning all inflammatory threads doesn't make the forum a hugbox, right? It would be a hugbox if all you allowed was threads like, "who is the cutest user." And nothing else. THAT would be a fucking hugbox. Also, I like how you use the term hugbox in general--it's associated with autism, so, you're basically cheating the argument by using such a charged word there. Calling someone autistic, even indirectly, is a surefire way to get people on your side on the Internet. Subtle.

Point me to the ad hominems that I've made. I've called you stupid, because you are. That's not ad hominem, though.
*loading screens*
Welp, that's news to me. I had no idea it was associated with autism, got a source for that?

I would point them to you, but you've just immediately dismissed them so it looks like there isn't much point.

You are correct in thinking it won't really have much of an effect other than making you look bitter.
And making me feel good. It pumps me up to know that I am smarter than you. By a large order of magnitude.

I'm glad that I can help boost your self esteem then.

However, people saying X is ugly isn't against the rules in the same way that spamming up a thread with 'FUCK YOU FAGGOT' is. If it's someone, for example, making photoshops to mock another user from a picture they have posted - then of course, that is taken seriously and removed. If you are trying to equate 'X is ugly' with a three page flamewar then you need to get better at picking out balanced examples.
My original contention was "I don't care if it's not a flamewar." It's rude and obnoxious to call someone ugly, period. I would never comment on anyone's appearance ever unless they did it to me first. And even that's irrational for me to do, but that's what I do when I'm pissed off. I bite back. Surprise surprise. And no one can really blame me for that.

This is just a fundamental belief of mine. If you don't think that this thread is worth locking simply by its inherently inflammatory nature, then I think you are incredibly stupid. And this is gonna get nowhere. That's that.

I might just point out his stupidity every single time I respond to him now.
You might annoy him, but I don't think that that will have much of an effect on him.
It might get tiresome, sure.

The fighting in this thread is coming from a user who said the thread should be locked to avoid fighting.

gg.
and the person fighting with said person is a mod

even better

what a fucking trainwreck you are, psy

i used to respect you
I like how you think this is a fight and not a discussion, such a combative attitude probably explains why so many discussions you start turn into flamewars.

I'm certainly a trainwreck, that goes without saying.

You say that as if that is supposed to matter to me.

Anyways, I'm off to go and play with a friend for a bit. So you can type up a nice little response to me for when I get back if you like.

Nope.

Ah yes, I'm incredibly arbitrary. The reason is that the rules were set like that after lots of discussion and trial and error with each previous incarnation of them. If the moderators suddenly start taking justice into their own hands then what good is that?
They kind of do, and I agree. That doesn't mean that flaming is permitted here, nor does it mean it's not a chore to clean up afterwards.
So why the fuck would you derogate people who care about having their fucking image or whatever driven through the mud? Why act like they're just whiny babies who care too much and people who whine about being flamed are justified, when you openly admit that the severity of the two offenses is negligible?

this is just sad, frankly

And I didn't realise that winning meant so much to you.
Oh, it's fucking everything to me.
Sure, feel free to keep believing that you are right then. It would be futile to waste more time in a yes/no squabble over something. Perhaps I am the dumbest mod, but I don't really care if I am or not.

Hmm, probably because someone who let's vanity control their mind to that extent should get over themselves. Humans are all ugly creatures of flesh, to take it so personally when someone who is equally imperfect tries to mock you for your appearance is rather silly to me.
Apparently you misread it as well, people who whine and cry about being flamed are nearly always taking an equal share in the flamewar - they need to get over themselves too.
However, people saying X is ugly isn't against the rules in the same way that spamming up a thread with 'FUCK YOU FAGGOT' is. If anyone actually gets butthurt over being flamed for having a different opinion online, they really reaaaaaally need to get over themselves.
Yeah, that's spot on actually.
I'm just fucking asking for consistency. He edits my post for calling a dumb kid a dumb kid, because he's a dumb kid.

But calling someone the ugliest user on the forum? Oh, that's fair. We can allow that.

WHAT?
Consistency would be me then editing kupo's post where he called you stupid as well. Or perhaps you selectively ignore things that run contrary to the point you are trying to make.

The Flood / Re: Who are the ugliest users here?

The difference here is
-Making fun of someone's appearance
-Flaming someone for disagreeing with you

If anyone actually gets butthurt over being called ugly online, they really reaaaaaally need to get over themselves.
It's official. You're the stupidest mod. Congrats.

If anyone actually gets butthurt over being flamed for having a different opinion online, they really reaaaaaally ned to get over themselves.
I have been called worse, forgive me for not taking your opinion of me to heart though.

Indeed they do, but the rules here are the rules.
That's also very camnatoresque of you, congratulations.
We're not dealing with opinions. You ARE the dumbest.

Flaming someone for having a different opinion and making fun of someone's physical appearance are NO BETTER OR WORSE THAN ONE ANOTHER.

You're acting like flaming is worse. Why?

Because you're arbitrary. You have no good reason for that standard. And you're going to act like people who care about their appearance being made fun of just need to get over themselves--when I can say the exact same thing about flaming for having different opinions.

You lose.
*in your opinion*

Also in your opinion, In terms of what I have to clean up I'd say a flamewar is worse. It's like the difference between vomit on the floor and spilled juice. Caps lock is cruise control for cool.

See above.

Ah yes, I'm incredibly arbitrary. The reason is that the rules were set like that after lots of discussion and trial and error with each previous incarnation of them. If the moderators suddenly start taking justice into their own hands then what good is that?

Either show my face or wear the mask ;_;

That you know of, I haven't showed my face either.  ;)
D:

But then, I don't wear the mask in public so there is no way of you knowing if you've actually met me or not.

Do you want me to shoot you?

Actually I thought 'Oh look, another one of these threads. This must be the 7th one by now.' and then 'hmm, do I lock it because there is no fun allowed, or, do I tell people to play nice and expect this to die off like the other 6 threads'

And look, it's such a raging flamewar right now :/
who cares if it's not a fucking flamewar

it's a thread that literally promotes the insulting of users

i can't call kupo the annoying fucking child that he is when he's pissing me off, but it's okay to make fun of people's physical appearance for no good reason

you're really not very smart
you're really not
And? Not everyone is so thin skinned as they can't take some insults.
I've said it twice today now, if you want some mild mannered, dead, serious, hugbox - I'm sure you can find one somewhere.

The difference here is
-Making fun of someone's appearance
-Flaming someone for disagreeing with you

If anyone actually gets butthurt over being called ugly online, they really reaaaaaally need to get over themselves.

shit up
Oh, get out. I literally said two words, and planned never to post in the thread again until you had to respond. If that's shitting up a thread, you have yourself some really garbage standards.
Quote
Really, go on. How is this suppressing you?
Because you're telling me that I can't walk into a thread about a subject that I dislike, and state that I dislike it. That's what you're trying to tell me not to do right now.

Except you do this every time an anime thread appears. That's the shitting up part, because regardless of if I didn't ask that question, someone else would have said something - probably in a less polite manner, and it would be yet another thread derailed by someone who has a chip on their shoulder over chinese cartoons.

Am I telling you that? Or asking if it was really necessary to do it?

You are of course free to whine about how much you hate anime in anime threads, nobody is going to stop you. But don't think that means nobody is going to question your statements/disagree.

Well of course, the current criteria as explained in the sticky is that it's for somewhat serious discussion of serious topics rather than serious discussion of topics.
Well, there you go, then. I'm advocating for the serious discussion of topics rather than the discussion of serious topics in the Serious board. That's what I'm pushing for.

Having a serious discussion of any topic in the Flood is nigh impossible. Every now and then I make a poll asking the community if they use a particular forum feature--strangely, those threads are taken seriously, but if I actually want to discuss anything, like the new Death Grips album, it gets drowned out with literally 0 replies. Why?

Shitposting.
I'd like to be able to post semi-serious stuff in Serious but it always gets moved back to Shitpostlandia and dies.
Like what though?
Literally anything except religion or politics. I think I made a post on which hat is best under Serious and it just got straight-up deleted.
Well that's because discussion of hats is for the flood, and it shouldn't have been deleted, just moved.

Disagreeing with it/questioning it =/= Oppressing it.

Or have you spent too much time on tumblr lately?
I didn't say "oppress", guy. I said suppress. Pretty major difference there.

Okay so, detail how I'm suppressing your opinion.
Instead of asking you if it was necessary to come into, and shit up, a thread related to something you have no interest in.

Really, go on. How is this suppressing you?

Now you see, was this really necessary?
To go into an obviously anime related thread just to shit on it?
That's my opinion on anime; stop trying to suppress it.
Disagreeing with it/questioning it =/= Oppressing it.
